* It was a moment of pride and excitement for the students and their parents as Anambra State College of Health Technology, Obosi, officially welcomed a new batch of students during its 24th matriculation ceremony.

Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi; Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, in their separate speeches, urged the newly admitted students to take their studies seriously, as they will play crucial roles in strengthening the state’s healthcare system.

They reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving health education and infrastructure to ensure students receive top-notch training.

Earlier in his address, the Provost of the college, Dr. Daniel Ezeobi congratulated the new students and advised them to adhere to all rules and regulations of the college while maintaining high moral standards.

* The Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba has commissioned a newly built library at Nnamdi Azikiwe Secondary School, Abagana (NASSA).

The library was built by High Chief Florence Nwakego Nwakor-Oraelosi, a notable community philanthropist in Abagana.

In his speech, Hon. Ononiba applauded Dr. Nwakor-Oraelosi for her contributions to the community, highlighting that the library is a testament to the success of Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP) initiative.

The Mayor also called on all critical stakeholders in Njikoka to partner with the local government in providing basic amenities that will ameliorate the plight of Ndi Njikoka.

* The Anambra State Government through the office of the Special Adviser on Community Security has introduced new security measures to enhance the safety and security of citizens and visitors in the state.

These directives are aimed at strengthening the state’s security architecture and promoting a secure environment for all.

In a press release signed by Dr. Law Mefor, Anambra State Commissioner for Information stated that all hotel guests must provide a valid government-issued ID (National Identity Card, International Passport, or Voter’s Card) to the hotel management.

The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or kidnappers to the authorities. A reward of #5 million and above will be given to those who provide valuable information.

These directives are aimed at promoting a safe and secure environment in Anambra State. The government urges all citizens and stakeholders to cooperate and support these initiatives.

* The Government of Japan, through the initiative “Emergency Support to Climate Change” in partnership with the United Nations Office for Project Services, has donated several equipment to Anambra State in response to the impact of the 2022 floods.

The resources will aide early detection of flood and assist the Soludo administration in addressing future flood occurrence.

The resources provided include:
– A donation of 10 vehicles to improve logistical capacity.
– Equipment to enhance information and communication technology.
– The installation of two GPS water level detector sensors at key riverbank locations to enable effective responses to floods and other climate-related disasters.

* A transformative workshop aimed at re-orienting the youth apprenticeship scheme has been held at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center, Awka.

The workshop attracted hundreds of youths under the “Umu Boi” Scheme of the 1Youth, 2Skills programme of the state government.

The initiative, organized by the Ministry of Youth Development, seeks to enhance the effectiveness of the apprenticeship programmes and better align them with the needs of the modern workforce.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mbah in his speech stated that the Umuboi Entrepreneurship Scheme which is presently in it’s second phase, is one of the most important aspects of “1Youth, 2Skills” programme with a lot of innovations like the Use of Talking Book and Online Entrepreneurship Academy.

Agha Mbah thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for investing heavily in improving the Umuboi Scheme, adding that for the first time in the history of the State, the government is seriously is giving back to the market, more than it is taking from it.

* Property World African Network, PWAN Max Group has held its empowerment conference for realtors and company agents in Awka with a vision to empower young people in the real estate business through networking so as to become self reliant.

According to the Chairman of PWAN Max Group and Founder of PWAN, Dr. Augustine Onwumere, he and his wife, Dr Jane, founded the company in 2012 and are credited as the first real estate network marketing company in Nigeria.

Dr. Onwumere said one of the solutions his company has initiated to solve the huge housing deficit in Nigeria is to help people come up with co-operatives that help members own a home through mortgage.

The Managing Director of PWAN Max, Mr. Leslie Ejiro emphasized that the conference is focused on lifting Nigerian youths out of poverty by helping them them acquire skills in real estate marketing and earn commissions per sale.

*The Labour Party frontrunner in the upcoming Anambra South Senatorial by-election, Barr. Donald Amamgbo, has reassure his constituents of his commitment to delivering the all-inclusive representation they have long yearned for when elected to serve.

During a recent event in Ekwulobia, where the coordinators of his political movement, T-DAMS, representing the seven local government areas, were sworn in, Amamgbo urged his constituents to vote for him and hold him accountable.

He highlighted his track record, which includes funding infrastructural projects, providing scholarships, and creating jobs for his people in his private capacity. He assured them that he would do even more when elected. He reiterated his commitment to genuine service and promised not to be just another career politician.

* The Local Government Chairman of Anaocha Comrade Rome Ibekwe has commissioned a five thousand gallon-storage capacity solar-powered pipe-borne water borehole erected at Neni Town Hall Civic Center.

Comrade Ibekwe in his speech said the
pipe-borne water is meant to serve residents of the community, especially Oye Neni Market and Anaocha Local Government Area Secretariat.

The Mayor revealed that the project was his major campaign promise, which is in accordance with vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo who is dedicated to providing the citizens of the state access to basic social amenities.

* A fatal road traffic crash on Friday claimed four lives, injured one in Oba Expressway, near New Road Junction, Anambra State.

The incident involved three vehicles: a private Toyota Hummer bus with registration number UWN763XA, a government-owned Toyota Hummer bus without a registration number, and a Mercedes tipper.

According to a press release by RC. Margaret Onabe, Anambra FRSC Public Education Officer, the crash was attributed to a route violation, resulting in a head-on collision.

Reacting, FRSC Sector Commander, Anambra State, Corps Commander Joyce Nnennaya Alexander, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased victims.

Alexander advised motorists against dangerous driving and route violations, especially on the expressway. She also appealed to the public to allow FRSC teams to carry out rescue, and clearing of obstructions as any delay could cause loss of lives.

* Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central, has flagged off the construction of the 3km Bucki Poly-Ogidi ani Road in Umuoji, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

This project fulfills one of the promises Senator Umeh made during his inauguration in June 2023, demonstrating his commitment to serving the community.

The road project, which will be completed in phases, is part of his many constituency projects underway in the Anambra Central Senatorial District.

During the launch ceremony, stakeholders and community members praised Senator Umeh for keeping his promises.
