* Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR has warmly congratulated Anambra state’s foremost industrialist and philanthropist, Sir Emeka Offor on the occasion of his 64th birthday anniversary. Soludo in his felicitation message joined friends and family members to rejoice with the celebrant on this special occasion, describing it as a milestone deserving of celebration and deep appreciation to God Almighty for His grace and mercy upon the celebrant’s life.

* The leadership of APGA has vowed to deliver Sir Eric Kanayo Eze (Ochiagha Orumba) as the member representing Orumba North and South at the green chambers come 25th of February. They described Ochiagha Orumba as a leader who understands the workings of government with enough capacity to right the wrongs and return all the lost political glory of Ndi-Orumba with all the dividends of Democracy meant for them.

* Nigerian youths have been urged to champion the course of free, fair and credible elections this month’s and March 11th general elections. Speaking in Awka, the Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene said youths have a responsibility of protecting their future.

* 15 communities under Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State have sought Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s urgent help to fix their deplorable road. The communities, in a open letter signed by the Labour Party Candidate for Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, stressed that approving rehabilitation work on the major road connecting the communities would help to ameliorate their sufferings.

* Anambra state government again has arrested and paraded over twenty suspects for touting and illegal revenue collection in Awka and Onitsha environs. The suspects, aged between twenty and forty-five, were paraded by Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade at the agency’s headquarters in Awka where some confessed to have been involved in different touting activities.

* Anambra State through the Ministry of Lands and the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) signed a Public-Private Partnership agreement with seven (7) real estate development firms, and officially handed over to them their assigned lots for development. 

This landmark event marked the beginning of a new era of real estate development in the state, as these firms embark on the creation of new residential and commercial properties within the Awka Capital Territory.

* The traditional ruler of Awka Obi Gibson Nwosu has called on Nigerians to exercise patience with the federal government and Central Bank on its monetary policy. Speaking in an interview, Obi Nwosu, said that though many Nigerians are passing through difficulties in search of the new naira notes of one thousand, five hundred and two hundred naira, the people should remain calm and be law abiding since according to him the difficulty will one day be over. Obi Nwosu who described the monetary policy as the statutory function of the Central Bank however regretted the difficulty the people are passing through in search of both old and new naira notes.

* Holy Ghost Juniorate Ihiala has won the inter school debate competition organized by the minor seminary to mark the beginning of her seventieth anniversary. Holy Ghost Juniorate scored nine hundred and eighty- seven point five to take the first position in a keenly contested debate competition on topical issues among selected Catholic schools in Anambra state and beyond.

* The House of Representatives candidate for Oyi/ Ayamelum federal constituency, Lady Maureen Gwacham joined the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Oyi campaign team to Umunya in furtherance of the ward campaign tour. At Ilo-Ndi Ichie, venue for Umunya ward 1 campagn, Lady Gwacham reiterated her desire to help solve problem through effective representation. She promised to carry her constituents along if voted for.

* The Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike has charged tricycle Operators popularly known as “Keke drivers” to comply with traffic rules and regulations to ensure safety on the roads. Mrs Igwebuike gave the charge while addressing Keke operators in her office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.

* Anaku Town in Ayamelum local government area of Anambra State is now littered with corpses, many of them still burning, after an attack allegedly carried out by soldiers in revenge of their missing colleague. Over 500 houses were either set ablaze, or had their glass windows and doors smashed. Anaku and its neighbouring Omor community have been having protracted land dispute which had defied all efforts by government to resolve. It was not clear how soldiers got involved in the latest clash, but it was gathered that one of the soldiers sent there to make peace got missing, prompting his colleagues to descend heavily on the community.
