* Anambra State Government says it will offer ten million naira to the first street in Onitsha to complete their repainting from February 1 to March 10, 2024. ANN report that the Anambra Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu during an interactive session with Onitsha landlords recently said the runners up will receive five million naira while the third position will smile home with three million.

* Mrs Nonye Soludo, has cautioned parents against giving out their underaged children as maids and live-in servants. Mrs Soludo who was speaking in Awka, observed that children in their most vulnerable age should be learning the basics of life and not sent out to face uncertain environments. The governor’s wife noted that the growing cases of abuse of children by their presumed guardians and caregivers could be averted if parents can resist the temptation of giving out kids as maids for whatever reason. 

* A Non-Governmental Organization, Life Giver Foundation, has introduced the use of urine as alternative to fertilizer, which prices have skyrocketed in line with the inflationary trend in the country.  The project, which will be executed in the four communities of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, and is expected to be replicated in other twenty local government areas of the state, will help to improve soil fertility by introducing very effective, cost friendly and easy to use fertilizer which will in turn result in increased farm yield, increase household income, nutritious food and consequently reducing vulnerability and human trafficking to the barest minimum. 

* The Anambra State Ministry of Youth Development has reached an agreement on strategic partnership with the Ministry of Trade and Commerce to massively explore and harness empowerment opportunities for the youths of Anambra State. This landmark agreement was reached following the visit of Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha-Mba to his Ministry of Trade and Commerce counterpart.

* After a long legal battle, Anambra State Government and the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees, have reached an out-of-court settlement over the dissolution of the Anambra State Water Corporation. The settlement agreement was signed at the Conference Hall of the Anambra State Head of Service, HOS, by both parties. The Head of Service, Barr. Theodora Igwegbe expressed her gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for resolving the matter amicably.

* The Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr Nelson Omenugha today received certificate of integrity stewardship (service ambassador) award from the Centre For Peace and Self Values Re-orientation. With headquarters in Garki, Area 11, Abuja, the NGO champions selfless service and good governance. Presenting the award in Awka, the Executive Director of Centre For Peace and Self Values Re-orientation, Comrade Abubakar Oyibo said that objective of the organization is to enthrone a corrupt free society through promoting of ethical leadership and awakening the spirit of service chip among citizens.

* The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo has bowed out of office after a successful five years. Speaking at her Valedictory Thanksgiving at the Anglican Chapel of the Light, Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State, Dr. Nwafulugo dedicated the successful completion of her tenure to the Almighty God who according to her saw her through thick and thin of the five years journey as the polytechnic rector. Nwafulugo who was the first female Rector of the institution, advised the school management to continue in the same team spirit, inclusive leadership, hardwork and excellence of duty performance.

* The Chairman of Anambra Football Association, Chikelue Iloenyosi has received a tacit support of the former President of Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Melvin Pinnick for his emphasis on the grassroots football development in his state. According to Iloenyosi popularly called “General” by his admirers, Pinnick is so far impressed with his performance in office especially in the area of grassroots football development which has seen Anambra state sponsoring a second tier football team, Solution football club which is competing in the  on-going Nigeria National League (NNL) 2023/24 season.

* Anambra Government through Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, (OCHA Brigade) 

alongside the state ministry of health and other security agencies has burst a baby factory disguised as a mother and child hospital in Umunya. Angel Network News reports that those arrested at the baby factory, Mr. Francis Nwaoye from Umunya, Chidiebele and Samuel Obioma from Ebonyi state pleaded for mercy, and denied involvement in the activities of the factory.
