* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze says the love people have for God and their fellow human beings is the greatest Christian virtue. In his Goodwill Message to ndi Anambra on this year’s Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day, Rt. Hon. Udeze maintained that it is not a coincidence that both events are being observed same day, but a design by God to prove His love for mankind as well as people’s love for one another. The Speaker noted that the Lent which usually starts with the Ash Wednesday is a period of sober reflection, fasting and praying against tribulations, adding that as Jesus Christ triumphed over temptations and death, Christians will surely overcome their problems and obtain salvation of God.

* Anambra State Government has assured an Oraifite widow, Mrs. Chinenye Okonkwo, who was chased out of her late husband’s house by her brother-in-law, of protection and justice.
Angel Network News reports that the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affair and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo gave the assurance when she visited the widow at her hometown, Oraifite. The Women Affair Commissioner assured Mrs. Okonkwo of protection and promised to get justice for her by ensuring that she is brought back to her house and recovered her properties.

* The Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, says Awka Diocese is poised to prioritizing evangelism, soul winning and preaching the undiluted Word of God. Most Reverend Ibezim, who is also the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Awka, stated this at Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka during the licensing and commissioning of Diocesan Lay readers and rededication of Catechists and Church Teachers. The event, which is the third since the Diocese was inaugurated in 1987, saw eighty persons who were chosen as Lay Readers swear to the oaths of canonical obedience and against homosexuality, and examined thoroughly before the House of Bishop, Clergy and the Laity before they were fully licensed.

* The candidate for Ihiala Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Jude Oguejiofor has been killed by gunmen. Late Oguejiofor, a lawyer, hailed from Orsumoghu in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra but lived in Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state. According to sources, the politician was abducted around 1 a.m, some days back, alongside his brother by some gunmen at Orsumoghu Community where they had gone to see their aged parents.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Hon Pauly Onyeka, has assured members of the state assembly of a good working relationship to fast track the attainment of the vision of turning Anambra into a livable, smart mega city as programmed by the Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo-led administration. The Commissioner gave the assurance when the Chief Whip of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Ngobili, paid him a courtesy visit at his office at Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex in Awka. Onyeka called on Hon. Ngobili to work in close partnership with other legislators from Ekwusigo and Ihiala local government areas to to sponsor bills that will promote developmental processes

* Chief Ugochukwu Okeke Foundation, recently fulfilled his promise to grant scholarships to some members of the National Union of Anambra State Students (NUASS). While receiving the lifetime achievement award from the National Union of Anambra State Students. In his acceptance speech, Okeke pledged to give scholarships to help indigent students cover their school fees, showing his support to the Student Union.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has tour the three major markets in Idemili South. Speaking during the visitation, Hon. Amaka Obi said that the idea was inline with Governor Charles Soludo’s on environmental sustainability. The TC Chairman also distributed over five hundred branded aprons to market women.

* The Anambra State House of Assembly has called on the Governor Chukwuma Soludo to encourage those taking various social and community responsibilities through incentives, so that they would do more for their communities and state. Majority Leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme who sponsor the motion stated that the government of Anambra State under the leadership of Professor Soludo is interested in Public Private and Community Partnership (PPCP), as a viable model for state-wide development. Hon. Ofodeme who is the member representing Ekwusigo constituency said ndi Anambra all over the world are eager to key into the ‘Aku luo uno’ mantra and partner with government in providing solutions to their communities and beyond.
