* The Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr Nelson Omenugha has called on Anambra youths to key into the economic agenda and policies of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration to have a better future and also strengthen the economy of the state and that of their families.
Dr Omenugha, who was reacting to the current economic situation in the country, noted that Anambra state government under Governor Soludo is committed to achieving zero poverty in near years to come. According to him, the Palm oil and coconut revolution introduced by Governor Soludo is a timely intervention that will over time transcend into economic empowerment for the targeted 500,000 household, create jobs and empower youths.

* The Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Hon. Ossy Onuko has paid a working visit to inspect and ascertain the level of work done on the ongoing project at the popular Oye-agu market, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Council of Anambra State. Onuko while speaking noted that government was not relenting in its rejuvenating efforts to ensure that physical developments within the market conform to the building codes and regulations of the state. The ACTDA boss who further described Soludo’s developmental strides in the areas of youth empowerment, technovation, agricultural revolution, and road infrastructural development as milestones, said that government would leave no stone unturned in his endeavor to build a befitting state.

* The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Maku Olatunde has reiterated the commitment of NSCDC in prioritizing the welfare of its officers and recognize the importance of supporting their families during difficult times. The NSCDC State helmsman stated this during the presentation of command’s welfare package to the family and next of kin of Late Corps Assistant Pascal Nnaegbuna, a deceased officer of the command. The ceremony witnessed by very senior officers of the command took place at the Command Headquarters in Awka, where the wife of the officer who lost his life while serving in the line of duty received the package from the State Commandant on behalf of the Commandant General of NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, as part of CG’s Welfare Scheme.

* The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Orumba South Chapter led by Comrade Uchenna Ejeri has visited eight selected schools in the local government area. The schools visited are; Community High school Nawfija. Community High school Umunze. Union Secondary school Owerre-Ezukala. Union Secondary school Umuomaku. Victory High School Ezira. Community Secondary School Ogbunka.Government Technical College Umunze and Nsogwu Primary School Umunze, all in Orumba South LGA. Speaking at the various schools, Comrade Ejeri, flanked by his executive members, emphasised on the importance and role of education in the over-all well-being of the youths. He cautioned them against cultism, and other social vices to which a lot of youths are vulnerable, while large number of them have actually fallen victims.

* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s continuous assisting to various religious bodies in the State. Appreciating Governor Soludo’s donation of the sum of three hundred million naira to the University on the Niger at Onitsha, Rt Hon. Udeze noted that the gesture will go a long way in kick-starting meaningful development in the new University. The Speaker who stated that Soludo had recently made a giant donation of the sum of 1.524 billion naira to missionary schools in the state to sustain quality education, maintained that the huge assistance to the mission schools and institutions in the state is unprecedented and motivational.

* Anambra state government through the ministry of youth development has organized a one-day workshop for the media volunteers from the 21 local government areas in the state. The workshop was to upgrade their capacity and reposition them for the next phase of “1 Youth, 2 Skills” Solution youth empowerment programme. Declaring the workshop open at Ministry’s ICT hall, Awka, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, said that the capacity building workshop would enhance the service delivery of the volunteers in order to achieve effective media coverage and publicity for the programme.

* Anambra State House of Assembly Majority Leader Honorable Ikenna Ofodeme the member representing Ekwusigo constituency on Thursday February 15, 2024 at plenary sponsored four bills which were read for the first time.
