* The leadership of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association, IPMAN, Enugu Depot says the over taxation of its members by the Anambra state government might lead to down tooling and shutting down fuel selling operations in the state within the next two weeks. The Chairman of the Association, Mr Chinedu Anyaso  who stated this shortly after he was re elected to pilot the Affairs of the members for a second term promised that he will continue to work hard to ameliorate the  difficulties  facing its members in their businesses. Mr Anyaso said the challenge is highly prevalent in Anambra State, where after the Association had an agreement with the state government; yet ASWAMA, signage officials, and Ocha Brigade officials were still coming to demand money, arrest and detain IPMAN members and their workers.

* The Anambra State Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo has cautioned communities that have boundary disputes in the State against taking laws into their hands, saying that his government will not take it lightly with any person or groups indulging in such acts. The Governor gave the warning through his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim who is the Chairman, Anambra State Boundary Committee during his visit to some sites demolished at the disputed boundary between Isionyenato quarters of Enugwu-Ukwu and the Aguorji Clan of Nawfia, both in Njikoka Local Government area. Soludo, who regretted that people most times like to take laws into their hands without reporting issues to appropriate authorities, said that individuals and communities in land disputes must report their issues to the state government through the boundary committee for peaceful settlement, to avoid punishment from the government or bloodshed.

* The Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA) Hon. Ossy Onuko has reacted to a report which stated that Newspaper vendors in Anambra State have been facing a wave of violence and vandalism from hired thugs allegedly working for the state government. According to a report by Vanguard, the attacks have been targeting newspapers that are critical of the governor, Chukwuma Soludo, and his policies. Hon. Onuko described the report as cheap propaganda, stating that Newspaper vendors in Aroma sell papers and carry out POS services on the road and have been repeatedly told to take their tables and stand off the road.

* The Managing Director, Solution Estate Limited, Mr. Emeka Onwudinjo has urged Anambra state workers and the general public to take advantage of the facilities provided by the Organization through Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) scheme to key into the housing programmes of the government. Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Mr. Onwudinjo who made the call during an interactive session with Journalists in Awka on Friday, urged the working class, and youths in various walks of life to embark on long term planning to avoid the disappointment that comes with unplanned retirement. The Solution Estate boss disclosed that they were basically into building of mass housing that would accommodate different cooperative schemes through which affordable housing was made for civil servants and the public.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, Hon Amaka Obi alongside some Local Government officials and Councilors have visited borrow pits in Oba community. The unscheduled visit became necessary after the State Government through the office of Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon Ifeanyi Okoma issued a directive to seal all illegal borrow pits in the state. The visit to the site was also in response to a report by the Community President General of Oba, Engr Uzochukwu Ejiofor that caught the attention of the council chairman, who has zero tolerance for hazard in the communities.

* The Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Dr Tony Nwoye has completed and donated Tech Innovation and Computer Hub Building to Aguleri Community in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State. Nwoye described the Innovation centre as a befitting infrastructure for skills acquisition and empowerment for the youths with positive knock-on effects on socio-economic upliftment for the people of Anambra North Senatorial Zone and residents of the state. The Senator said that a lot of Our Young people have certificates, many of them do not have skills. Skill is very important. 

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has urged residents of idemili south local government area to inspire each other to greatness. She made this statement at the World Human Spirit Day. Obi stated that ndi Anambra  should encourage mindfulness through meditation and to also form the habit of constant reflection as a way to feel content in our pressure filled society.
