* Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo says Anambra and Kogi States will meet to tinker ways to lobby the Federal Government into constructing a road that will link Anambra West to Kogi State; a project he described as a game changer that will serve as gateway into the South East.
The Governor stated this while inspecting the 10.95Km Mmiata-Anam-Nzam Road (Section 2), which was awarded to Kanubeen Construction Nig Ltd.
* The Anambra State Coordinator, Women Situation Room Nigeria (WSRN), Hope Okoye, said they would deploy 30 women to observe elections across the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Anambra State. Okoye, who disclosed this at a capacity training for media practitioners on gender based reporting and Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) law, added that they would open Situation Room for the purpose of the election.
* Anambra Police Stakeholders Partnership Forum (PSPF), a foremost advocate group for better society, has charged the Anambra State Police command to investigate, expose and bring to justice officers implicated in the shady handling of the case of late Uchenna James Okafor. Okafor’s case was reported by a social justice campaigner on a Twitter handle, @Ada_mummyya, who alleged that the deceased was arrested for a case of two fighting and taken to the police station on the 23rd of December 2022, and later reported to have died. But PSPF in a statement signed by it Coordinator in Anambra State, Prince Chris Azor, and Executive Director of RULAAC, Comrade Okechukwu Nwanguma, condemned the act and urged the police to tender public apology over the poor handling of the case in question.
* The Truth, Justice and Peace Commission, set up by the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, to look into the crises of agitation, restiveness, violence, and struggles in south-east Nigeria, has submitted its inception report. The report was submitted at the Exco Chamber, Government House, Awka.
* A Chieftain of PDP, Identified as Mr. John Paul, Personal Assistant to Senator Stella Oduah, has dumped the People’s Democratic Party and his Principal (now former) to formally decamp to APGA, and was welcomed by Dr. (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiano during a rally in Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government. Mr. John Paul identified the ills that informed his decision to switch camps and narrated that Senator Stella Oduah who has served for 8 years should be made to grant a power shift to Omambala while exposing that the Senator’s scorecard misrepresented facts.
* Bridge-Head Market, one of the largest Market in Onitsha, Anambra State commercial nerve centre now wears a new look as the incumbent president general of the Market, Hon. Chinedu Ezekwike begins renovation of structures in the Market. Hon. Ezekwike, the new appointed care-taker Chairman of the Market told journalists in Onitsha that he deemed it necessary to beautify hand Market to attract more customers and decent environment so that traders and their customers could enjoy conducive business transactions.
* The presidential campaign council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra state has decried the alleged attacks on their members and facilities in the state. The deputy director, media and publicity of Atiku-Okowa Campaign in Anambra state, Mr. Uloka Chukwubuike, who disclosed this in a statement, alleged that PDP members in Anaocha local government area had suffered series of attacks which if untamed could prevent them from voting on February 25 Presidential and National Assembly polls.
* The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy matters Collins Nwabunwanne has commended the heads of local government administration for their support for the governor Chukwuma Soludo administration. The commissioner made the solemn commendation during a conference meeting organized by the Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Vincent Ezeaka at the SSG’S conference Hall Government House Awka.
* The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has approved the appointment of members of Boards into the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service and the State Housing Development Corporation.
According to a release signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Aburime, while Mr Richard Nwora Madiebo will serve as the Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Dr Greg Ugochukwu Ezeilo, Dr Christian Madubuko, Mr Benjamin Anierobi Okafor will serve as Executive Directors of the board. A former Deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Emeka Sibudu was appointed Chairman of the Board for the State Housing
* Federal Legislative candidates in Anambra State, at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka showcased their capabilities and expressed themselves to their constituents for assessment as they go to polls come February twenty-five 2023. They were assessed through Anambra Political Dialogue; De Mace Debate, jointly organized by the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council, and Radio Television Theatre and Art Workers Union, in collaboration with Society for Equity Justice and Peace, and Bring It on Africa.
* The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Anambra state chapter has commenced a three-day youth sensitization and electoral awareness campaign for 2023 general elections across the three Senatorial Zones in the state. The event which kicked off from the ABS Corporate Headquarters Awka, led the youths along major highways, streets and markets in the city.
* An Export Based Seed Processing Facility, PANAC Industries Limited has been commissioned by the Anambra state Commissioner for Industry, Dr Obinna Ngonadi. The event took place at Ogbunike Industrial Clusters, Oyi Local Government Area. Commissioner Ngonadi who applauded the Managing Director, of PANAC Industries Ltd, Mr. Chinedu Aniagboso for putting up the seed processing facility which he described as the first-of-its-kind in the state noted that it is going to provide job opportunities for the teeming youths and create wealth for the state, noting that the initiative is in line with Governor Soludo’s administration vision for the state.
