* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has said that the Solution Innovation District where ten thousand youths will be trained on digital skills is underway. Soludo disclosed this during the twenty-seventh-year anniversary of Holy Child Secondary School, Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area. The Governor who spoke about the ongoing training of five thousand youths in one youth two skills initiative of his administration, noted that his agenda is to restore smiles to those who have been forgotten.
* Gunmen suspected to be IPOB/ESN attacked Awada Police Station in Idemilli North LGA of Anambra State using Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and automatic firearms at the early hours of Monday. In response to the attack, police operatives attached to Anambra State Command engaged the assailants jointly with troops from 302 Artillery Regiment of the Nigeria Army, in a gun duel and three members of the outlawed IPOB/ESN were fatally wounded while three Kalashnikov rifles and one Automatic Pump Action gun were recovered from them. Other items recovered from the assailants included a brown Lexus 330 with reg no. GWA 415BB ABJ, one unregistered KYMCO motorcycle suspected to be stolen properties, charms and other incriminating items.
* Anambra State Police Command have in custody one Mrs Akunna Roseline Udom aged 35 years on an alleged case of conspiracy, advance fee fraud and stealing, reported to the Command for investigation. Mrs Roseline is a member of a notorious gang of 3-man, who specialise in defrauding members of the public. While some of her syndicate members are still at large, she confessed that her victims are mainly single young ladies, who work in cooperate offices like banks, civil service and sales girls, assuring them that her brother who is based overseas is looking for a wife.
* Anambra State Governor’s wife, Nonye Soludo, has asked voters in the state to prioritize integrity, antecedents and vision in their choice of who to vote for. Mrs. Soludo, who stated this in Awka, explained that it is important for those voting in the elections to understand the important right they hold on governance.
* Hon. Sir Charles Uchenna Okafor KSC, the YPP Federal House of Reps candidate for Oyi/Ayamelum constituency, has commissioned two solar-powered boreholes in the villages of Ukpomachi and Nkwelle in Awkuzu, Oyi local government area of Anambra State. Hon. Okafor reiterated that his motive behind executing the two solar-powered borehole water projects in the two villages of Awkuzu was borne out of his strong desire to alleviate the sufferings of humanity, particularly his town people, as regards the challenge of water supply they are facing.
* Awka community has expressed satisfaction with the massive road reconstruction embarked upon by Governor Chukwuma Soludo in different parts of the state, in which the community is benefiting. The traditional ruler of the community, Obi Gibson Nwosu, who expressed the feeling maintained that the ongoing work on the Umuogbu village erosion site by the Soludo administration is an indication that the present administration is committed to improving the living standards of the people, in addition to giving Awka community a facelift as the state capital.
* The Commissioner for Education Anambra state, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has announced that two thousand five hundred teachers, in addition to the five thousand already recruited in 2022 will be added. Chuma-Udeh made this announcement at the official handover of Umuji Community College, Ebenebe, Awka North Local Government Area to the state government.
* In fulfillment of her pledge to members of City Sports Club, Amawbia near Awka, the Representative of Anambra Central District in the nation’s upper legislative chamber, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has built and handed over a befitting Sports House to the Club. Commissioning the facility at the premises of the club, the Benefactor, Senator Ekwunife, said she was motivated to embark on the project as part of her commitment to promote physical fitness of the members.
* Hopes of Anambra State floating a football club any time soon have been dashed as the chairman of the state Football Association, Mr Chikelue Iloenyosi, a.k.a. De General, who stated that the state lacked the financial capacity for such. This was as the state FA planned to organize what it has described as a dream FA Cup competition. Iloenyosi who disclosed this during a football stakeholders meeting in Awka, said funding of a football team was not something to be rushed but what would require proper planning in order to sustain the club.
* Anglican faithful in Aguata Diocese converged on Holy Trinity parish Igboukwu under Igboukwu Archdeaconry for a special prayer for the smooth and peaceful conduct of this Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly election. The prayer session which was led by the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor who is also the National Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican communion, EFAC, Nigeria was attended by the president of Women’s Ministry in Aguata Diocese Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor and some Diocesan officials.
* A priest at Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Nodu-Okpuno in Awka South Local Government Area, Reverend Father Fidelis Odunukwe has said that God’s directive of exercising patience with one another when offended seems not to be working again. Reverend Father Odunukwe who stated this in a homily said as things are going on in the society, people bullying and killing each other for a mere provocation is not what is expected from Christians.
* Anambra State Police Command has declared Mr Emeh Nnamdi Daniel, aged 26 years old wanted on the offence of unlawful possession of a firearm, money laundering, defamation of character, fraud, and Impersonation. Mr Nnamdi Daniel is a youth corps member with State Code Number AN/22A/3323, attached to Anambra State Police Command and is positively identified, involved/mentioned in an ongoing investigation in the command. Therefore, the command urged the general public to report to the nearest Police Station, if seen or call the Command Control Room number at 07039194332 or the PPRO at 08039334002 if you have any information that can aid in his location for arrest.
