* The Anambra State Police command has restated that there will be no movement from midnight ( Friday) till the end of elections on Saturday, February 25th. The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Echeng Echeng disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

* Ahead of the March 11, House of Assembly election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Awka South 2 Constituency (Obizi), Barr. Ifedi Josiah, has affirmed he will be accountable, available, and maintain close communication with his constituents if elected. He made the pledge during the Obizi Youth Interactive Session held at Civic Center Nibo. The intending law maker, while speaking at the event vowed to offer good representation and legislation if given the mandate in the forthcoming election. 

* Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor has taken his campaign to major streets and markets in Nnewi. Nonso Okafor, who is the House of Representative Candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) for Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, arrived major markets in Nnewi to the admiration and jubilation of the traders. He assured that if elected, he will make the Federal Constituency proud in the National Assembly. 

* The Chairman of Plastic Products Dealers Society International Market Ogbunike, Mr. Udoka Ogbuefi has debunked the purported claim of extortion by some traders in the market. This rebuttal is coming few days after some traders in the market claimed to have been subjected to an untold hardship as a result of extortion by groups of youths in the community.

* An Anambra-based sex worker operating in Awka the state capital has pledged to offer free sex to the first five customers who approach her in her office if the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi wins the 2023 general election. The sex worker, identified as Jenny, made the declaration on Thursday night at the ever-busy Abakaliki Street (also known as the Club Road) in Awka, which is adjudged the Headquarters of sex workers in Anambra state.

* Anambra State Resident Electoral Commission REC, Dr Queen Elizabeth Agwu  ignored party chairmen and journalists who were at the Central Bank of Nigeria to observe  the arrival and departure of election materials. The party chairmen who were spotted around  8 pm at the CBN expressed disappointment over how  INEC loaded voting materials to trucks without them having the serial Numbers of those materials.

* Journalists assigned with the responsibility of covering the 2023 General Elections in the South East Geo-Political Zone have been urged to shun bias and partisanship of any form but to be fair, objective, accurate and conform themselves in line with stipulated electoral guidelines. In a Press Statement issued in Enugu, Enugu State and signed by the Vice President and Zonal Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), South East Zone, Comrades Emmanuel Ifesinachi and Ezenwa Adiuku respectively stated that, as strategic stakeholders in the elections, Journalists must be neutral but precise and ensure that their reportage/coverage is such that will help bring trust, confidence, stability and credibility to the entire electoral process, adding that they should work to be part of the efforts to ensure violent-free elections in the Zone.

* Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Mr. Peter Obi, has been assured of 1.8M votes in Anambra in the Saturday Polls. Arch Mike Nwafor gave the indication on Thursday, February 23, during a solidarity march organized in Ifitedunu community in Dunukofia local government area of Anambra state for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Datti Ahmed.

* As the race for who represents Anambra South Senatorial zone continues to take front place in the general election in Anambra State, the candidate of the Young Peoples Party, YPP, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has crashed the price of fuel in the zone. Ubah is up against the candidates of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Hon Chris Azubogu, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Chris Uba and Labour Party, Obinna Uzor.

* The Anambra State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed about one thousand and sixty personnel for election duties. The state sector commander, CC Adeoye Irelewuyi, who disclosed it to ANN at the command headquarters Awka, explained that although the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) dictated the pace of the election, the FRSC he said, would only play a supportive role in conjunction with other security agencies to ensure successful polls.

* A prominent pentecostal bishop, Dr Paul Nwachukwu has calmed Nigerians down, saying that a new dawn is coming. Many Nigerians have decried the level of suffering in the country under President Muhammadu Buhari. Nwachukwu, the Presiding Bishop and General Superintendent of Grace of God Mission International in a prophetic message urged Nigerians to be calm as God is brewing something new. The Bishop who is known for many prophetic utterances assured Nigerians that something new was coming, and that the nation will smile again.

* The Nigeria Union of Journalists Anambra council has called on the Federal government to look into ways to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians especially as it concerns the high level of extortion by petroleum marketers through the high cost of petroleum products and the cash crunch in the state. The union led by Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, PhD after its congress, observed that the scarcity and high cost of petroleum products, which has translated into high cost of transportation, and high cost of living are seriously biting on the citizenry, and require urgent government intervention; because of potential danger they pose to the society.
