* Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has described the ongoing 2023 general election as orderly in Anambra State. Governor Soludo gave the assertion while exchanging views with the press. He expressed satisfaction so far based on the reports reaching him with regards to the entire process shortly after casting his vote.
* Parishioners of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Housing Estate Bridgehead, Fegge, Onitsha South Council Area have organised a cultural fiesta aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Ndigbo. The premises of Ugborimili Primary School Bridgehead Housing Estate was filled to capacity, with parishioners from the five states of the Southeast geo-political zone, all dressed in different traditional attire depicting their roles at the event.
* A Chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Comrade Obi Ochije Modilim has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his giant strides in office in less than one year of his administration. Comrade Ochije who made the commendation while speaking with newsmen in Awka eulogized Governor Soludo for his innovative leadership style which has changed the face of the state. He noted that the governor has conscientiously tackled the numerous road crisis which he met at assumption office, as most areas of the state’s roads are now wearing a new look, even as works are aggressively ongoing in some roads across the twenty one local government areas of Anambra state.
* The Anambra State Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities, JONAPWD, Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke, has said that with assurance of adequate security arrangement for members, and Independent National Electoral Commission having trained them on how to use the ballot paper, they will participate actively in the 2023 general elections scheduled to start this Saturday. Comrade Ugochukwu explained that mobilization for JONAPWD members to register for Permanent Voters Card started since last general elections, and resulted in about eighty percent of them having their PVC’
* Enugwu-Otu Aguleri, Anambra East Council Area was agog recently as their Traditional Ruler, Igwe Igbanugo Ejiofor performed his first Ovala festival in grand style. Ovala Njiko Enugwu-Otu Aguleri, as it was tagged, threw the community in joyous mood after mourning their late traditional ruler, Igwe Emmanuel Obiora. They came out en masse to promote their rich culture and used the opportunity to pray to their ancestors to bless their land as an agrarian community and their sons and daughters.
* The people of Ifite Ogwari in Anyamelum Local Government Area was recently thrown into a festive mood as their traditional ruler, Igwe Alphonsus Ofuebe inaugurated fifty six new cabinet chiefs and conferred chieftaincy titles to three illustrious indigenes of the community. The occasion came with it the display of the rich cultural heritage of the community. The ceremony held at the palace of the traditional ruler started with the arrival of the cabinet members who dressed in white chieftaincy regalia with red caps, danced along with other prominent sons and well-wishers and paid homage to the king.
* His Majesty Igwe Dr Robert C. Eze (Okofia Vi) in the company of members of Ukpo Royal Cabinet, performed the official ground breaking/ foundation stone laying ceremony of the proposed Ukpo Museum Complex. The Event started at the museum site, Ogwurugwu Layout with an opening prayer said by Most Rev Alexander C Ibezim, the Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Lord Bishop of Awka Diocese Anglican Communion.
* The Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Denis Isizoh, on Thursday charged religious men and women to remain committed to their call notwithstanding earthly challenges and other difficulties in missionary work. He gave the advice while delivering a homily during an event to commemorate the world day for consecrated men and women.
According to the Prelate, answering a call of religious vocation is not an easy task, but through seeking God’s grace every time, the challenges on the way can be surmounted.
* The Presidential and National Assembly elections of Saturday, February 25, recorded massive turn out of voters and peaceful conduct in Anambra State. ANN who monitored the elections at various locations within the state observed that despite malfunctioning of BIVAS machine, late arrival of materials and the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at some places, the voters, who trooped out in their numbers waited patiently with determination that they must exercise their franchise no matter how long it takes.
* Gunmen have attacked the resident of a Political stakeholder in Owerri Ezukala community, Orumba South local government area of Anambra state setting ablaze vehicles and houses. The incident happened few hours before the Presidential and National Assembly election in the area. According to the victim and party stakeholder, Chief Edozie Madu, over eighty armed men opened fire from his gate and started shooting without control until they gained entrance to his country home.
* The Parish Priest of St. Joseph Parish, Aguleri (the new Cathedral), Rev. Fr. Celestine Chigbo, has expressed great joy over the newly created diocese, describing it as great news and a milestone, and adding that the Aguleri people and neighbouring Communities had been yearning for it. According to him, joy rent the air in the Community when the news came on. He described Bishop Denis Isizoh as a man who has garnered a lot of experience, having worked with the Roman Curia for years, adding that his wealth of experience will greatly help in developing the new Diocese.
