* The member representing Nnewi North Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Augustine Ike has called on Federal Government of Nigeria to foster healthy competition in business among Nigerians and dismantle monopolies for the well-being of the citizenry. The lawmaker while addressing the alarming hike in prices and inflation affecting essential goods like cement, expressed concern over the prevailing system of dangerous monopolies, where businesses are controlled by a select few individuals. Hon. Ike highlighted the dire consequences for ordinary Nigerians who struggle to afford basic necessities, with food becoming increasingly scarce.

* The Anambra State Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Sir Ifeatu Obi-Okoye recently received the Director General of Soludo 21/21 (Divine Mandate Actualization), Hon. Lilian Okeke and her delegation on a courtesy visit in his office at the APGA Regional Secretariat, Awka. Speaking on the purpose of their visit, Hon Lilian Okeke stated that they came to commend Chief Obi-Okoye for the good work he is doing with his team, with regards to unifying the party and instilling discipline and orderliness among the party members. She added that their visit was also to familiarize with him and intimate him with the objective of the group, progresses made so far and to seek his support to achieve greater accomplishments towards securing Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election.

* The tricycle Owners and Riders in Anambra State have unanimously made passionate  appeal to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to urgently establish Security Monitoring Unites in various parts of the State to completely checkmate the unabated criminal activities of the tricycle snatchers in the State, especially in the urban towns across  the State. The Awka South Chairman Tricycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria, Anambra State, Hon. Prince Collins Ozojiofor, made the passionate  appeal at the Regina Caeli Park of the Association Opkuno axis where the aggrieved members of the Association converged to pay their last respect to one of their  thirty seven years old member, Mr. Chinweike Nwaigbo of Amogwu Aku Community,Nssuka in Igbo Etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State who was recently shut dead by unknown gun men in Awka while on duty.

* The Director General of South-East Governors Forum, Senator Uche Ekwunife has condemned the murder of of the President General of Umuoji in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State. Expressing her deepest condolences and unequivocal condemnation of the dastardly act in a statement signed by her Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communication, Tony Ezike, Ekwunife described the slain President General as a pillar of strength and beacon of hope. She said,” The cowardly act perpetrated by unknown assailants has left Umuoji community and Anambra State shaken, and stands condemned.

* Anambra First Lady Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has reassured that the state government will continue to support the treatment procedures of ex-tennis champion Miss Tania Okpala, to help her get back to feet soonest. The Governor’s wife, who stated this when she visited the facility where Misss Okpala is currently being taken care of, disclosed that she has a particular interest in Tania’s case, and was impressed with the pace of her recovery. Mrs. Soludo promised that immediately the ex-tennis star is certified fit, she will be actively involved in the healthy living crusade to lead education on the dangers of drugs and substance use.

* Anambra State government in collaboration with Pineheight Systems Limited, has launch Public Wi-Fi initiative tagged “Solution Wi-Fi”. The pilot phase initiative, which signposts a resounding fulfillment of promises outlined in the Governor’s manifesto, marks a significant stride towards launching the state into the digital age. According to a statement signed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr. Fred Agbata, the agency is dedicated to realizing Governor Soludo’s vision of “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere”, adding that the pilot phase is part of the ongoing technological transformation by the Soludo administration.

* As the rains set in, and in a bid to ensure that proactive actions are taken to avert inland flooding, the Anambra State Government has called for desilting of gutters all over the state.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu the call is contained in a circular issued by the Commissioner for Environment, Dr Felix Odimegwu, in which every market, estate, park, layout, neighborhood, street, school, Church, abattoir, shopping complex, plaza and all public spaces are mandated to desilt all gutters and evacuate all silts with immediate effect from Friday, twenty third February to Friday, fifteenth March, 2024.
