* Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) Hon. Ossy Onuko says Anambra state government is not building 1,200 open shops. Reacting to a media report circulating on various social media platforms claiming that the agency is currently building 1,200 shops for the street traders who were dislodged in the recent enforcement drive of the agency, ACTDA through a release signed Mr. Charles Ekwunife, Head of Department  Awka Capital Territory Development Control Unit, debunked the report.

* The Anambra State Soludo Ambassadors led by the convener, Hon. Ossy Onuko has felicitated with Anambra State Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Sir Ifeatu Obi-Okoye on the auspicious celebration of his 66th birth anniversary today.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Ossy Onuko described the celebrant as a reliable party leader with exceptional humility and high regard for our political party, APGA.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has meet with Anambra Traditional Rulers and Presidents-General (PG) over security, environmental and community development in the state. The gathering commenced with a moment of silence held in honour of the recently deceased President-General of Umuoji and the victims of the Odu-Igbo Market tragedy in Ochanja. After listening to questions, contributions, and suggestions from the audience, the Governor stated that if the Southeast region were to shut down, it would not go unnoticed by Nigeria, and potential investors would be less likely to come to the state.

* Former Champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Plateau United of Jos on Wednesday  outplayed Heartland FC of Owerri in matchday 22 at the Awka City Stadium.

The Jos based Football Club had Doyeni, Agbor, Nenrot and Ebah at the score sheet while Okafor got the consolation goal for the Owerri based football club in a game that ended 5:1. Plateau Uniteds are at currently at the second position after 22 games with 38 points while Heartland are at the bottom of the table (20th) with 18 points.

* Tension is building up in Oraifite town in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State, following a court ruling on the Igweship stool of the Kingdom.

Recall that Ezumeri, one of the four villages in Oraifite town had been in an age-long legal battle to reclaim what it described as its right to produce the traditional ruler of the Kingdom after the demise of Igwe Gregory Ubaka. The ensuing legal battle lasted for 18 (eighteen) years until July 5, 2023, when Justice Dennis Maduechesi who presided over the case with No. HN/216/2006 at the Nnewi High Court, in the state, ruled that the traditional stool be decided under the existing mutual agreement in Oraifite and the Anambra State Chieftaincy Law.

* Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Anambra State Council, has said that substandard materials and poor foundation were behind the building collapse that claimed six lives in Onitsha, the commercial city of the State. The COREN State Chairman, Engr. Victor Meju, disclosed this while briefing Journalists shortly after inspecting the scene of the incident on Tuesday. He said the regulatory body would not relent in its effort to curb the menace of quackery in the state and the country at large.
