* The Secretary to Anambra State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu has assured the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA for Anambra Central Senatorial Honourable Dozie Nwankwo that the people of Oraukwu will vote massively for him and APGA in the election.

Chukwulobelu who spoke at Oraukwu said that their community and the entire Local Government Area have benefited immensely from the All Progressives Grand Alliance led administration.

* In line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s agenda to create a clean, healthy, livable and smart megacity that would attract investors from all over the world, Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Felix Odimegwu has inspected facilities of the Abattoir at Kwata Meat Market, Awka. During the tour, Dr Odimegwu, represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Mrs Ngozi Iwouno, charged the management of the market to adhere fully to the code of conduct of the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Environment and make sure that their mode of operations is properly guided by licenses and approvals given by the ministry.

* The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the details of losses suffered by the Commission as gunmen attacked one of its offices in Anambra State in the early hours of Wednesday. ANN recalled that unidentified gunmen, at about 1:45am on Wednesday, attacked the INEC office in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, where they bombed up the facility. According to police report, the gunmen stormed the INEC office with four Sienna cars, armed with improvised explosive devices, and petrol bombs.

* A House of Representatives candidate of Young Progressives Party, YPP, for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Mr Kingsley Uyammadu has said that only skills can redirect the minds of youth away from crime. Uyammadu who was at the Anambra secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, during the February congress of the union said education can bring enlightenment, but cannot stop people from engaging in crime, especially with the lack of jobs in Nigeria.

* Stakeholders in Awka-Etiti, Nnokwa, Alor and Oraukwu communities in Idemili North and South Local Government Areas have endorsed the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA for Anambra Central Senatorial District in this month’s general election Honourable Dozie Nwankwo as their consensus candidate. The stakeholders who spoke through their representatives made the declaration when Honourable Nwankwo led his campaign team to the communities. They assured that the upcoming election will be testimony for APGA, as their candidates are carefully selected and inspired hope for a better tomorrow.

 

* The All Progressives Grand Alliance ( APGA) candidate for the Anambra North Senatorial District for the forthcoming February 25 general elections, Chief (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme) and her husband, the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano were well received by traders at the Onitsha Main Market by traders. The market leaders in the various remarks thanked Chief Obiano for his kind gestures towards traders as the governor of state, empowering ndi Anambra for the development of the state.

* Mrs Helen Mbakwe of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) who is contesting in the forthcoming election to represent Anambra Central zone in the Senate says the country can be redirected to the right path.

“With good laws, we will be able to boost the development of the country and also redirect the minds of youths away from crime.

* The Court of Appeal, Abuja division has set aside the verdict of Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court Abuja, which had on November 24, 2022 nullified the nomination of Hon Chris Azubogu as the APGA candidate for Anambra South Senatorial zone.

After the primary, Hon Ben Nwankwo headed to court to challenge the qualification of Engr Chris Azubogu to participate in the primary election which led to the nullification of the nomination of Azubogu by the Justice Ekwo of Abuja division of Federal High Court. Not certified with the decision of the High Court, the APGA and Chris Azubogu filed an appeal challenging the judgement.

* The Court of Appeal sitting in Awka has granted Senator Victor Umeh, candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for Anambra Central in the February 25 polls to serve his notice of Appeal on Senator Uche Ekwunife of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through substituted means. Counsel for the Appellant (Umeh), Alex Ejesieme (SAN) in a motion told the Court that the bailiff had made several efforts to serve Ekwunife directly without success.
