* Anambra State Commissioner for Housing Hon. Pauly Onyeka, has charged contractors engaged for the upgrading of Dr Alex Ekwueme Event Centre to turn the place to a centre of attraction comparable to any other one around the world. The Commissioner, who gave the charge during the official handover of the project site to the contractors, explained that the goal of the government is to transform the old event centre to a decent, world class facility, in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s desire to make Anambra a livable and progressive state.
Hon. Onyeka, who led other senior staff of the ministry on the ceremony, charged the contractors not to undermine the good intentions of the government on the project.
* The newly deployed State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Maku Olatunde, has embarked on a familiarisation tour of sister security agencies in the state. Comdt. Maku commenced his tour with a visit to the State Controller, Nigerian Correctional Service ( NCoS) , CC Usifo Joseph at the Command’s Headquarters, Awka. The tour is a way of familiarising himself with other Security Service Commanders in Anambra.
* Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Onitsha Main Market Police Division, Mrs.Joy Ikpeama must be a happy woman now as the dilapidated police station which it shares with the state fire service located in the area has been renovated. However, the only renovated structure was the DPO’s office and a few offices in the police section of the building, leaving the entire old building in a terrible state. The Police Division which suffered neglect by relevant authorities experienced its worst neglect and abandonment when the entire building was gutted by fire last year leaving the police section in a dilapidated condition.
* Members of the Editorial and Publicity CDS Group of the Nigerian Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State recently paid a courtesy visit to the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Aburime. The aim of the visit was to introduce themselves, explore potential collaborations, and leverage the governor’s office platform to create lasting impacts for themselves and future corps members. Welcoming the group, Mr. Aburime emphasized Governor Soludo’s dedication to youth empowerment initiatives. He cited the successful “One Youth, Two Skills” program, which has already equipped 5,000 youths with valuable skills, with plans to empower another 10,000 this year.
* Founder of Ogilisi Igbo Foundation, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, an Igbo Socio Cultural organisation has applauded Anambra state government for banning display of coffins publicly and depositing of dead bodies in morgues for more than two months. Chief Ezeonwuka said the burial law was a good omen. He called on ndi Anambra and mortuary operators to cooperate with the law for liberation of the state from insecurity and social vices.
Ezeonwuka who had been in the vanguard for evacuation and burial of corpses from all mortuaries in the state and as well as immediate burial of the dead, said the law aligned with his call for several years.
* The newly posted Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olatunde Maku has paid a working visit to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu in his office. Maku while speaking during the visit said he was in SSG Office to familiarize himself, and appreciate the State Government for the support so far, and in the same vein solicit for more provision of operational assistance to the command in ensuring the safety and security of the good people of Anambra.
* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has once again extended hearty congratulations to Nigeria’s Super Eagles for their remarkable triumph on Friday over Angola in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). A decisive lone goal by Ademola Lookman in the 41st minute secured a well-deserved victory, propelling Nigeria into the AFCON semi-finals.
* Anambra State College of Health Technology Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area has held its 23rd Matriculation ceremony of the college. Angel Network News reports that Anambra State Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo charge over hundred (100) students who were matriculated to be disciplined and obedient to the college authorities. Soludo represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike expressed happiness over the rapid development of the college and attributed it to the innovative solutions being introduced by his administration in the health sector and called on Ndi Anambra to continue to support his government to enable him actualize his lofty visions for the state.
