* All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in Ogbaru Local Government Area has organized its 2024 grassroots mobilization with a call to all party faithful to be alive to their duties. The event which was hosted by the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu was aimed at sensitizing the people and to encourage party leaders, all the twenty-four APGA executives in the sixteen wards in Ogbaru to carry out their various duties effectively. Nwosu stressed the need for them to be alive to their political responsibilities and to thank God for bringing them into the new Year.

* Anambra State based Journalist, Mr. Eche Nwobasi has visited orphanage homes and indigent ones. The orphanage homes which the celebrant visited and as well received prayers from the children included; Fiat Missionaries Orphanage Home and Ify Homes For the Needy Children Home and Orphans situated at St. Stephen’s Road In-land Town Onitsha, Anambra State. Mr. Nwobasi of the National Link Chapel visited them with Cabin Biscuits, crates of mineral drinks, cash and other goodies which he used to  celebrate his birthday with them.

* Anambra State government through Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra State, OCHA Brigade has arrested over forty suspects for illegal sand mining in Awka, Onitsha and environs. Angel Network News reports that the brigade also sealed off the illegal sand mining sites. PThe enforcement which was carried out by the task force of OCHA Brigade, raided mining sites at Nibo-Umuawulu, Isuaniocha, Okpuno and Niger Street Onitsha where they dislodged all the activities of illegal sand miners.

* Stakeholders in Enugwu Village Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area have commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his developmental strides in the state, and Nanka in particular. Speaking at Nanka, the Chairman of Ositadimma Development Union, Enugwu Village Nanka, Chief Emmanuel Ezeobi, said the Governor has been consistent in his people-oriented policies and programmes for the benefit of the citizenry and residents of the state, and urged him not to relent. He commended youths of the area for their unity of purpose, and urged them to key into the “One Youth Two Skills” initiative and other youth friendly policies and programmes of the Governor Soludo administration in order to become employers of labour.

* Anambra State government has suspended the Principal of Regal Secondary School, Nri, in Anaocha Local Government Area, Mrs Ogechukwu Akabuike and that of Ide Secondary School, Enugwu-Ukwu, in Njikoka Local Government Area, Mrs Christiana Obidinnu for violating the free education policy of Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration. In a press release signed by the Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Awka, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, the two Principals who collected unapproved fees from students against the Free Education policy of the Soludo administration, were also asked to hand over all the school property to the Vice-Principals administration of their respective schools. The release also asked the affected principals to proceed to the headquarters of Post Primary Schools Service Commission in Awka for further interrogation.

* Anambra First lady Mrs Nonye Soludo, has explained that early diagnosis, basic disease awareness, and timely checks are key steps to beating the threats of cancers. Angel Network News reports that ‘World Cancer Day’ is commemorated globally on the 4th of February every year to raise awareness and re-assess stakeholders’ actions to mitigate all forms of cancer across the world. The theme for the 2022-2024 campaign is “Close the cancer gap,” while the theme for the 2024 fixture  is “Together, we challenge those power.”

* The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike says that the housemaid battered with hot iron, knife and broken bottle by her madam, one Mrs. Adachukwu Okafor in Onitsha is in a stable condition after receiving adequate medical attention in one of the government’s owned facilities in the state. Dr. Obidike commended the doctors managing the child for their professionalism and dedication in handling the patient whom he revealed sustained serious injuries after the barbaric act from her madam. The Commissioner maintained that the state government and the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo through her non-governmental organization, Healthy Living   With Nonye Soludo are collaborating with the ministry of health to ensure adequate and efficient treatment of the minor.

* The member representing Anambra West Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Patrick Obalum-Udoba has inspected the 10.5km Mmiata Anam-Nzam road and called on the contractor handling the road project to ensure speedy completion of the road. Angel Network News reports that Hon. Udoba expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done by the contracting firm handling the project .
