* Anambra State Government has through its Operation Udo Ga-Achi initiative demolished more than four houses used as hide-outs by kidnappers at Umu-Umejiaku Nnewi, and Umuogbo Obiofia Nnewi-Ichi.
The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim while speaking
restated that the administration of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has zero tolerance for any form of crime and criminality.
Ibezim who was accompanied by the Majority Leader, Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, Mayor of Nnewi North, Mr Echezona Anazodo, among others, said the present administration is out to restore sanity in the state and ensure adequate security of life and property.
The Deputy Governor warned kidnappers and other criminals to leave the state or face the wrath of the government through the Operation Udo Ga-Achi initiative. He advised the state’s residents to always report any suspicious activities around them to the appropriate authorities or risk being arrested and punished accordingly if the government discovers the illegalities on its own.
* Mr. Obinna Anene, from Amene Village, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, who was mentioned as the principal suspect in the case of burning and killing of a 74-year-old woman, late Mrs. Alice Anene, at Abagana on 27th of January 2025, has been arrested.
According to SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, the
Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra Command, the 33 years suspect has being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide (SCID) Section Awka for a debrief.
* Anambra state government has demolished three kidnappers’ dens at different locations in Nnewi North LGA.
The three locations are; Ndiezenwankwo Uruagu, Umumejiaku Uruagu and
Obiofia Nnewichi, Nnewi North.
The operations were led by the State Deputy Governor; Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Special Adviser on Community Security; Chief Ken Emeakayi, House Committee Chairman on Security and Majority Leader; Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme and Chairman of Nnewi North LG; Mr. Echezona Anazodo and Hon. Augustine Ike.
* Traditional Ruler of Ikem Ivite in Anambra East Local Government Area, HRM Engr Simon Obidike, Eze-Ezu II, has praised Governor Charles Soludo for the giant achievement recorded already in the security of the state after the introduction of the Homeland Security Law.
The monarch, who gave the commendation during the inauguration of security committee by Ikem Ivite town union led by Chief Sunday Obinze, at the community’s civic center, noted that for a long time, things have not been going well in the state in the area of security; adding that God brought Governor Soludo to correct the anomaly and bridge the gap.
Igwe Obidike, a former Director of Engineering in the Federal Ministry of Special Duties, assured that Ikem Ivite will support the governor to ensure that the security initiative achieve its target objective.
* Comprehensive Secondary School (CSS) Nawfia Old Boys Association, an alumni body of CSS, Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra State has hailed reelection of Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu as State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), describing it as a testament of exceptional leadership.
The group, in a congratulatory message signed by its National President, Mr Emma Okechukwu, also described Odogwu’s victory as well deserved, adding that it has proven his dedication and tireless efforts to promote the growth and development of journalism in Anambra State.

Your reelection is a clear indication of the trust and confidence that your colleagues have in your ability to lead the union’. Okechukwu said.
* The founder, Solution Kitchen, Iyom Ngozi Chinelo Obikwelu has urged support for journalists in their drive to provide information for national development.
Obikwelu made the call at Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra State while celebrating with Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu and his executive on their victory at recently held Triennial Conference of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra Council.
The NUJ Anambra State Patron also emphasised that journalists as powerhouse contribute positively towards societal development through provisions of vital information on the happenings around the world.
This according to her, worth celebrating and should be accorded recognition because without information from the media many would found it difficult to discover the happenings around them or take necessary actions or steps.
Earlier speaking, the State Chairman, NUJ, Anambra State Council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu commended Iyom Obikwelu for been the first patron of the union to celebrate the new executive, assuring that protection and welfare of journalists would be top priority of the new administration.
* Writer, Hon Raymond Okoye has said that APGA and Governor Chukwuma Soludo will not have morale to campaign in Omambala region, unless they fulfill the promise he made to ndi Ayamelum and other Omambala communities in 2021.
Speaking to the news men at Onitsha, Okoye stated that 20 years of APGA leadership is a waste to his hometown Umerum and other serval communities Ayamelum and Omambala at large.
Okoye lamented on how Soludo boycott the construction of Ogba Ofemili ,Umerum Omor road that supposed to Link up Ayamelum to Awka North and the capital city of Anambra state, he went further saying that entire Omambala communities are interested in the said road.
* The traditional ruler of Ihite in Orumba South Local Government Area, Igwe Timothy Ifurunwa has enjoined mischievous indigenes of the town to desist from opposing Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s peaceful efforts in the community especially his recent issuance of certificate of recognition and staff of office to him.
The monarch urged ndi Ihite to join hands with other reasonable indigenes in moving the community forward.
In a press statement, Igwe Ifurunwa described as baseless and misleading the media report by a group of individuals who falsely parade themselves as Kingmakers in Ihite community, attempting to discredit the legitimate process that led to the emergence of the traditional ruler of Ihite and called on the public to disregard the report.
Igwe Ifurunwa noted that there is nothing like Kingmakers or Traditional Council vested with the authority to elect traditional ruler in the constitution of Ihite community, expressing surprise that the four persons have continued to parade themselves falsely as kingmakers and causing unnecessary crisis in Ihite community that is known for peace.
* The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Anambra State chapter has congratulated Dr. Emeka Odogwu on his re-election as Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State chapter.
In a message signed by the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Chidi Chidebe, the party lauded Dr. Odogwu’s exemplary leadership during his first term and acknowledged his significant contributions to the journalism profession.
Describing him as a “proud son of Umudiogo in Anianuke town,” Hon. Chidebe expressed pride in Dr. Odogwu’s achievements and noted that his re-election is a reflection of his dedication to the highest standards of journalism and unity within the NUJ.
* An Awka-born philanthropist, Dr (Mrs) Felicia Okeke-Ibezim, has commissioned a multimillion-naira community project in honour of her late father, Mr Clement Nwankwo Okeke, popularly known as Okwuchineke.
The project, a storey building with state-of-the-art facilities, was officially handed over to the people of Obunagu-Amikwo village in Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State, on Saturday, January 25th, 2025.
Dr. Mrs. Okeke-Ibezim who was represented at the handover ceremony by her younger sister, Mrs Grace Nwabueze, explained that the project was a heartfelt fulfillment of her personal promise to honour her father’s sacrifices.
