* The government of Anambra state through the ministry of local government, chieftaincy and community affairs has suspended the traditional ruler of Neni in Anaocha local government, H.R.H Igwe Damian O. Ezeani. In a letter dated 8th January, 2024, and signed by the Commissioner of local government, chieftaincy and community affairs, Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, the following was given as reason for the suspension; “We have received confirmed reports that you, as traditional ruler of Neni, conferred such a phantom Chieftaincy title today on one Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in violation of the Code of Conduct and without clearance from the Ministry. Whether or not your action was for pecuniary reasons as being insinuated in many quarters is irrelevant. What is important is that your action is an affront to order and good governance.
* The Anambra State Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Sir Ifeatu Obi-Okoye alongside the Commissioner For Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu, Special Adviser to Governor on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, TC Chairman of Nnewi South LGA, Hon. Iyke Aniagbaso, APGA State Organizing Secretary, Chief Sylvanus Udezuka and local government party chairman, Hon. Azubuike Osuchukwu paid a courtesy visit to CEO Chisco Group, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu at his home in Amichi town, Nnewi South. The visitation offered Obi-Okoye and his entourage the opportunity to meet with selected stakeholders from Amichi community, including prominent members of PDP, YPP and Labour parties, desirous of joining APGA who expressed their satisfaction and joy with the developmental strides and transformation initiatives of Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo in less than two years in office.
* The TC Chairman of Idemili South LGA, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi alongside with stakeholders welcomed Professor Charles Soludo as he paid condolence visit to Traditional ruler of Nnobi, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Engr. Nick Obi over the death of his wife, Lolo Ocheze Clara Obi. Soludo also paid condolence visit to Adimike’s family in Ejighinandu village Awka-Etiti, over the death of their brother, son, father and uncle, late Mr. Ifeanyi Charles Adimike. They prayed for the repost of their souls and that God will give the families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
* Thirty suspects were arrested during the Christmas and New Year celebrations in Anambra State for cultism, kidnapping and robbery. Angel Network News reports that Anambra Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Adeoye stated this on Monday in Amawba the commands headquarters while briefing journalists on breakthrough made by the Command from 1st December till date.
According to Adeoye, the determination of the command to ensure safety of lives and property during and after the yuletide celebration yielded positive results because officers and men worked day and night to provide security.
* Prof Chukwuma Soludo has paid his last respects to the late Chief (Sir) Uchenna Michael Ukeji who passed away at the age of 58. Angel Network News reports that Governor Soludo while delivering his condolence message on behalf of the government during a solemn burial mass held at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Oraukwu Idemili North LGA, commended the Catholic Church for their role in advocating for the Anambra Burial Law, enacted in 2019.
* The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa says APGA would be taking a strategic stance in upcoming elections across the nation. Angel Network News reports that Ezeokenwa while speaking recently during a cordial gathering at the GRA residence of Barr. Harold Chinedu Ekwerekwu, APGA’s National Deputy Legal Adviser, in Onitsha, Anambra State, hinted that the party is set to deploy its electoral arsenal nationwide as it readies itself for upcoming by-elections, and gubernatorial elections in Edo, Anambra, and Ondo.
* The traditional ruler of Ojoto kingdom, His Royal Majesty Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu 3 has apologized to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo over non compliance to code of conducts guiding conferment of Chieftaincy title in the state. Igwe Gerald tendered the apology while briefing newsmen in his palace at Ojoto in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South LGA Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has commended Prof Charles Soludo on the various road rehabilitation and construction going on in the State especially in the council area. Obi said that Anambra State Government has made a huge investment in road infrastructure development, noting that Governor Charles Soludo is improving infrastructure of Nigeria by the investment he made in infrastructure in the State.
