* The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr Sly Ezeokenwa, has urged President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to drive a comprehensive investigation into the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs following troubling revelations about the allocation of funds meant for vulnerable individuals. Angel Network News recalls that the scandal burst open after a leaked memo revealed that the suspended minister Betta Edu directed the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, to transfer N585m to a private account owned by one Oniyelu Bridget, who the ministry claimed currently serves as the Project Accountant, Grants for Vulnerable Groups. Ezeokenwa made the appeal while addressing journalists in Awka, Anambra state capital, on the urgent need for government officials to prioritize public welfare and to address the critical issues affecting the nation.

* The TC Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has warned teachers and students in the council area against Indiscipline as school resume tomorrow. She made this statement while welcoming teachers and students as they officially resume tomorrow, urging teachers to be dedicated.

* Officials from the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), State Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA), and Anambra West Local Government have visited Mr. Sunday Nnalue family of Mmiata Anam, Anambra West LGA, to condole with the family on the death of their sons who were involved in boat accident on Thursday, 4th January 2024. Angel Network News gathered that the victims, Onyeka, aged 12; Isreal, aged 10; and their mother, Gloria, who was rescued from the boat accident, were returning from holiday when the Kogi-Anambra bound wooden boat they were traveling in rammed into a snag on the water channel and capsized at the Mmiata banks of the River Niger.

* The Executive Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Dr Vera Nwadinobi has frowned at what she observed during her on-the-spot monitoring of some schools in Awka North council area which include Obuno Primary School, Community Primary School, Irunese Primary School and Central school all in Ebenebe. Angel Network News reports that Nwadinobi while speaking says this year, her agency is going to increase the monitoring and assessment of schools and teachers in Anambra State to raise the tempo of quality education in the state higher. Nwadinobi during the assessment observed that pupils and teachers were seen sweeping and clearing the classrooms and the school compounds on Tuesday which they should have done on Monday the resumption day and in one of the schools only three teachers were on ground out of the six teachers the school has. 

* Prof Chukwuma Soludo has commiserated with Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma (Fada Ebube Muonso) and his family on the death of their dear mother, Ezinne Grace Udefi Obimma (Nee Onyenze) who passed away at the age of 88 years. Angel Network News reports that a funeral mass in her honour was held at St. Williams Catholic Church Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State. While comforting Fr. Ebube Muonso and his family on the loss of their beloved mother, Governor Soludo, on behalf of the state government and people of Anambra State, prayed for the repose of her soul.

* Anambra State Government has arrested over 30 suspects at an illegal mining site in Oko in Orumba North Local Government Area and Ukpo in Dunukofia Local Government Area. Angel Network News reports that the Managing Director, Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere, who led the team, said the state moved swiftly to seal the unapproved sites and arrest the miscreant to save the environment, as the state is speedily losing more lands to erosion as a result of illegal sand mining and other activities.

* The traditional ruler of Neni in Anaocha Local Government Area, Igwe Damian Ezeani has apologized to Governor Chukwuma Soludo and  the Anambra state government for contravening the Code of Conduct for Anambra State Traditional Rulers on conferment of chieftaincy titles. In a press briefing in his palace at Neni, Igwe Ezeani said he was sincerely sorry for the mistake made during his ofala festival. The monarch who is the Chairman, Anambra Central Council of Traditional Rulers, noted that he holds Governor Soludo in a high esteem, and will not do anything to undermine his administration. 

* Anambra State government is set to partner AeMoney Limited for a robust youth and technology development programme. This was the outcome of a virtual meeting held between representatives of Anambra State government and AeMoney Ltd based in Xuhui, Shanghai, China.
