* The Chairman of Njikoka LGA Barr. Chinedu Ononiba has congratulated Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for being awarded the Sun 2024 Governor of the Year.

In his message, the Mayor expressed his admiration for the Governor’s remarkable leadership, dedication, and achievements in advancing the state’s development.

He also praised Soludo’s commitment to improving the lives of the people, noting that the recognition was well-deserved.

Ononiba further highlighted how Soludo’s visionary leadership continues to inspire positive changes in the state and beyond.

* It was a solemn moment of celebration at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Agulu in Anaocha LGA, as an illustrious son of the soil, Rev Fr Clifford Aniefuna, marked his 40th Priestly Anniversary amid encomiums from brother priests, friends and individuals, who had come in close contact with the priest.

The event, which the celebrant described as a thanksgiving for God’s benevolence upon him, was well attended by Catholic priests including lay people from all walks of life.

Aniefuna, who started as an Altar boy, said he felt fulfilled being in the priestly vocation for 40 years now and counting.
He said, ‘It’s by God’s grace; I can’t claim any credit, but it has been a journey that’s worth thanking God for.’

 

* Sir Paul Chukwuma, the frontline APC governorship aspirant for the 2025 Anambra State election, has assured of improved security if elected.

To demonstrate his commitment, Chukwuma recently visited insecurity hotspots in Ihiala, where scores of innocent citizens were mauled down during the Christmas period.

The APC Chieftan emphasized the need for a fresh strategy to tackle insecurity, criticizing the current administration’s approach as ineffective.

 

* Prince Arthur Eze, in a remarkable gesture of philanthropy, presented a cheque for N100, 000, 000 to ensure the immediate commencement of a project in memory of his late brother.

Arthur Eze made the presentation at the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the ultra-modern Faculty of Medical Sciences (Medicine and Dentistry) at Paul University, Awka.

The faculty, to be named Prince Engr (Dr) Arthur Eze Faculty of Medical Sciences, is dedicated to the memory of Prince Arthur Eze’s late brother, His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Walter Eze (Okofia V, Eze Ukpo, and Clan Head of Dunukofia). The project is set to open in 2025, commemorating Igwe Dr. Walter Eze’s 100th Posthumous Birthday.

 

* The Operation Clean Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade), through its Director, Chief Celestine Anere, has provided assorted mobile waste disposal bins in Onitsha and its environs.

While distributing the waste bins at strategic locations in Onitsha, Anere, who was represented by Onitsha OCHA Brigade’s coordinator, Mr. Ejike Odife, emphasized that the purpose of providing the mobile waste bins at these locations was to encourage the public to properly dispose of used sachet water bags, used plastic water bottles, and other waste materials.

The cordinator also explained that the initiative aimed to ensure the environment remains free of litter, including all types of debris and unwanted materials, while preventing complaints from people who might otherwise claim they could not find a waste bin if they are apprehended by OCHA Brigade personnel.

* History has been made at Eziagu village in Aguluezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State as five brothers of same parents joined the prestigious Nze na Ozo Society of their town in grand style.

Conferring the Nze na Ozo title on the five brothers, the head of Eziagu Aguluezechukwu Nze na Ozo Society, Chief Clement Ofor who described Ozo Society as the apex society of the Igbo extraction committed towards ensuring that sanity reigns in Igbo land, urged the newly inducted members to abide by the rules of the group as their titles will be revoked if they do otherwise.

For the celebrants, they decided to join the group as a way of identifying with the culture and tradition of their town and as well to use the platform to make a significant impact in their community and Igbo land in general.

Some friends of the celebrants, commended them for deeming it feat to take the prestigious Ozo title, describing it as a good decision which will help promote the rich Igbo culture and tradition.

 

* The Archdeacon, CHS Awka Archdeaconry, Ven. Dr. Onyeka Egwuonwu, has advised social media users to stop announcing people’s death, if their families have not done so.

Ven. Dr. Egwuonwu who stated this in a sermon at the Church of The Holy Spirit, Awka, reiterated that it was against all customs and tradition of Igbo race to announce other people’s death outside their family. This, he said, may be obtainable in other cultures and traditions, but not in Igbo Land.

He said social media users could escalate the information from the families of the deceased, rather than being the first to announce people’s death, no matter the circumstances surrounding their death.

* The Mayor of Ayamelum LGA Hon. Prince Alphonsus Ofumelu has received a group of military personnel who paid him a courtesy visit at his country home, Umerum.

Addressing the gallant men, Hon Ofumelu expressed optimism on his resolved partnership with the security agents in ensuring protection of lives and property in the area.

He appreciated the security men for their collaborative efforts in ensuring smooth and awesome yuletide season in the area.

Speaking further, the Mayor of Ayamelum emphatically affirmed that under his watch, the safety of lives and property within the Ayamelum area remains sacrosanct, while urging the citizenry to continue to be law-abiding.

 

* The major contender for the forthcoming Gubernatorial election in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma has reinstated his commitment to help get the state back on track and address glaring insecurity and poverty.

Sir. who spoke to newsmen in his Umueri country home, said he is confident in winning his party’s primaries and defeating incumbent Governor Soludo, in an election that would determine the future of the State.

Reacting to the malicious report from
Sahara Reporters, Chukwuma queried why such falsehood is coming out now that he is gearing up to liberate the state, describing the plot as the handiwork of unpatriotic elements to distract his agenda and vision for the good people of Anambra State.

 

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has emphasized the vital role that sober living plays in ensuring the safety and well-being of service members.

Soludo while speaking at the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day Service Celebration held at the Cathedral Church of St. Faith, Awka said the service is not just an opportunity to remember the fallen heroes but a time to call for action.

“This is an important service as a forerunner to the armed forces remembrance day celebration. It is an annual ritual, and 2025 is our year of collective triumph. We, in unison, can rise up to condemn the criminal acts going on. It is not just about the ideology of idolatry that the criminals are perpetuating but about the gods that they worship. There is a connection between what they do and idolatry.
