# The Senator Representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Dr. Tony Nwoye

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo joined military personnel and residents at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, for a solemn Mass dedicated to Nigeria’s Armed Forces.

The mass, held in honor of the nation’s fallen heroes, emphasized the bravery and sacrifices made by servicemen and women to preserve national peace.

Speaking at the mass event which is a cornerstone of the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day activities, aimed at fostering unity and national security, Governor Soludo reaffirmed support for military and paid glowing tribute to the courage of the Nigerian military, stating that the event serves as a profound reminder of the selflessness of those who have died in service to their country.

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor spoke on baptism, juxtaposing it with Armed Forces celebration and remembrance day which are about saving lives, calling on the people to resist the temptation of focusing on the self instead of the common good.

In addition to honoring the deceased, the ceremony featured prayers for the safety of active personnel and their families.

# Sen. Tony Nwoye Joins Former School mates at Metropolitan College Onitsha & commissioned some legacy projects completed by the College Old Students Association (MCOOSA).*

The projects, which were part of the activities marking the Old Students reunion anniversary include the renovation of some School building, renovations of the College entrance Gates, Building of new Security Post and the redevelopment and repainting of the College walls.

The Senator, while commending the Leadership of MCOOSA for the laudable projects, charged alumni to always contribute to their alma mater. He said the government both at the Centre and State alone can not carry the burden of education, hence collaboration from individuals, cooperate bodies and non governmental organisations.

Nwoye also highlighted several interventions he has made in Education as a Lawmaker in Anambra North Senatorial District and promised to do projects in the College and also to help the College regain its lost glory. He said we must do everything possible to revive the College and to make it habitable for Students.

# Anambra governor’s wife and founder of the non-governmental crusade, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, Mrs Nonye Soludo has explained that the rising figures of cardiovascular-based deaths call for a conscious and more intentional medical and habitual discipline.

Mrs Soludo who was speaking recently in Awka, noted that the seeming neglect by many people to go for routine heart checks, has helped the increase in most cardiovascular diseases, including heart failure, cardiac arrest and stroke, which are the commonest among them.

Speaking on the dangers of cardiovascular diseases, Mrs Soludo explained that it is important for everyone to understand that deaths from cardiovascular diseases are usually quick and undefendable, especially when they are in their acute stages.

She noted that most cardiovascular diseases can be prevented by addressing habitual risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diets and obesity, physical inactivity, and harmful use of alcohol.

# The local government Chairman of Idemili South, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi join the comprehensive health outreach organized by the Awka-Etiti Improvement Union Women Wing, Lagos Branch, in collaboration with the Awka-Etiti Health Committee at the Nkolofia Health Center.

Speaking at the outreach, the Mayor said yhe outreach was a timely and impactful initiative that provided valuable health services and education to our people, reinforcing the importance of community-driven healthcare.

“I commend the conveners for embracing the Public Private Community Partnership model of our dear Governor and for their foresight, dedication, and commitment to the well-being of Awka-Etiti indigenes, as their efforts greatly contributed to the success of the program.

“I also encouraged our people to always prioritize their health by embracing healthy living practices, regular medical check-ups, and preventive care, as good health remains the foundation for personal and community development”. Obi said.

# Billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Chief Ikenna Okafor, has awarded scholarships and provided free healthcare services to residents of Akwaeze community in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The initiative, carried out under the Idi Ezeani Nzekwuabuo Foundation, a charitable organization established by Okafor in memory of his late father, Chief Paulinus Okafor, benefited over 200 students across various levels of education.

Chief Okafor, who is also the Chairman of Keves Global Leasing Limited, an oil servicing company based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said the annual scholarship scheme covers both indigenes and non-indigenes of Akwaeze.

During this year’s programme, 41 primary school pupils received ₦40,000 each, 57 secondary school students were awarded ₦80,000 each, while over 100 students in tertiary institutions—including public and private universities as well as seminaries—received scholarships ranging from ₦400,000 to ₦1 million.

# The Local government Chairman of Aguata, Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike, accompanied by some councillors and team members, paid an appreciation visit to the Chairman of Tiger Foods Limited, Chief Celestine Ebubeogu (Ide Akokwa), and his brother, the Managing Director of Tiger Foods Limited, Mr Don Ebubeogu.

Speaking at the meeting, Ofobuike said

“From sponsorship of the maiden Aguata Marathon, to support for the Aguata Business and Leadership Summit 1.0, and so many other impactful partnerships, I cannot fully appreciate Chief Celestine and Mr Don for all they represent. For us in Aguata LGA, Impossibility is Nothing” the Mayor noted.

# A leading contender for the traditional stool of Ndiowu community in Orumba North LGA of Anambra State, Chief Chibuzo Okekeifi, has outlined the motivations behind his decision to vie for the revered position.

Okekeifi cited passion for community development, integrity, and decades of service to his people.

The retired businessman with over 40 years of professional experience in the United States, said his aspiration to become the Eze of Ndiowu is driven by a deep desire to restore unity, stability, and sustainable development in the community, which he believes has suffered prolonged leadership vacuum and internal divisions.

According to him, his track record of service, character, and pedigree—well known to many indigenes at home and in the diaspora—uniquely position him to provide purposeful leadership if given the mandate.
