* The All Progressive Grand Alliance has commended the Supreme Court Judgement of 12th January 2024. Angel Network News reports that the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Mazi Ejimofor Opara while reacting on the outcome of the election stated that the judgements of yesterday (12th January) at the Supreme Court have again shown that there is a reawakening that has justified the continued faith in the greatness of Nigeria. According to Ejimofor, “The Justices of the Supreme Court have once again strengthened our drive towards democratic consolidation, and I must say this is coming at a time when various insidious predictions have been made by some groups and persons who had at some point in their political history enjoyed the benevolence of the judiciary.

* Anambra State Central Mosque, Awka has held this years Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration and Emblem Appeal Week. Angel Network News reports that the that Hausa community during Fridays jumat prayer turn-out in their large numbers as prayers were offered for the fallen heroes, their families, the Anambra state government, the Nigerian Military and paramilitary personnel. The Chairman, Northern Traditional Council and Sarikin Hausa of Awka, Alhaji Garba Haruna who led the community in the special prayers said that its important to remember the efforts of those who fought gallantly for the nation.

* the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye sacrificed his night sleep to ease the traffic congestion on Zik’s Avenue within the Awka capital territory, by repairing the failed portions of the road overnight. The Commissioner, who had observed the persistent gridlock encountered on the road by motorists took a decisive action to alleviate it and therefore directed the Command’s Works Department to immediately carry out palliative repair on the failed portions of the road.

* The lawmaker representing Orumba South constituency Hon. Emma Nwafor joined the Ezira community to pay last respect to HRH Igwe Samuel Okechukwu Uche (Ezedioramma 2). The late Monach who died at the age of 61 until his death was the traditional ruler of Ezira. Hon. Nwafor In his condolence message, enjoined the Uche family and the entire Ezira people to be consoled in the Lord. He charged them to remain resolute believing that God knows the best.

* Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Youth wing says the massive community development projects commissioned by Governor, Chukwuma Soludo during the yuletide celebrations, were proof that Ndigbo are harkening to the calls to take their destiny in their hands in ensuring the development of Alaigbo. Speaking on the development in a chat with newsmen in Awka, the Acting National Youth Leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide youth wing, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu described Ndigbo as lovers of humanity and peace, had from time immemorial, been responsible for creating the liveable society they yearn for in the Southeast, despite decades of obvious abandonment by successive Federal governments.

* Work is in progress on the 6.4km Akwaeze-Adazi-Enu-Nnokwa road. Angel Network News gathered that men of BENEJAF construction company, the firm handling the work were seen carrying out earth work and drainage construction simultaneously. The President General of the Adazi-Enu community, Mr Emmanuel Ejidike while speaking to the ABS, expressed happiness that the road has been awarded and work progressing on the road.

Ejidike appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for remembering them and said that the contractor is doing well.

* Stakeholders of Labour Party in Anambra South senatorial zone have condemned the state governor for rebuking a bereaved family, and alleging violation of Anambra burial laws.

In a strongly worded communique issued after a crucial meeting in Awka, the Anambra South Senatorial Zone Labour Party Stakeholders, led by Honourable Paul Obu, the Minority Whip in the Anambra State House of Assembly condemned the actions of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

The party said the governor should rather be consoling the family, instead of rebuking them over the method they choose to celebrate their departed mother.

* Over one hundred indigenes of Awka, the Anambra State capital, got enrolled into academic scholarships and skills acquisition programmes floated by their kits and kins resident in United States of America (USA) and Canada under the auspices of Awka Development Union USA & Canada. The beneficiaries, who cut across the 33 villages in Awka the Anambra State capital city, would be studying medicine and other professional courses in universities across the country, while those selected for skills would in the next one year or more become successful bakers, information technologists, electrical engineers, data managers, fashion designers, among others.
