* The gruesome murder of Ward one chairman of Young Peoples Party (YPP), Nze Joe Mohale Ezenwegbu of Etti village in Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State by men of the underworld in the late evening of Saturday, November 11, 2023, continues to unsettle the residents of the Community, due to what can be described as slow investigation activities by the Security architecture charged with investigating the assassination. To this extent, a socio-cultural group, Nanka Forum, has called on the police and the Department of State Services to double up their efforts in solving the mystery around the murder of Mohale. This call was made through a press statement released by the group and signed by the Administrators of the group, Ikenna Ellis Ezenekwe and Barrister Chinwike Ezebube and dated January 12, 2024.
* Media guru and activist Dr Chuma Harris-Odili has officially lunched an online media outfit, Hardcore news in Awka, Anambra State. Association of Digital Media Core Advocates (ADMCA), during the unveiling of the online media organization also trained journalists and social media influencers, urging them to seek knowledge on media laws for better practice.
* A group of Estate developers under the name Living God Estate has cried out to Anambra State government to come to their rescue as people of Umuazu Umuogali village Oba, who allegedly sold plots of land to them are now disrupting ongoing developmental works at their Estate. The Living God Estate developers revealed this while fielding questions from journalists at Zone-13 headquarters Ukpo.
* The traditional ruler of Umunze, Igwe Promise Eze has urged Engineer Ezekiel Iheazor the newly elected President-General of the community and his officials to work hard to ensure peace, unity and progress. Igwe Eze while addressing Iheazor tasked them to tackle the challenges confronting the community.
* Work is still in progress on the Unizik-Y junction-Goodwill-Junction-Isuanaocha Road. Presently, earthwork is ongoing at the Y junction-Goodwill junction axis of the road. ANN reports that men of the Niger CAT construction company were seen with heavy duty equipment leveling and compacting the road for stone base and asphalt, having completed drainage construction on the axis.
* Engineer Ezekiel Iheazor has been elected as the President-General of the Umunze Progressive Union, (UPU) a community in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra state. In his acceptance speech after the election which was monitored by the officials of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, the newly elected President-General of Umunze Progressive Union, Engineer Iheazor, described his victory as an act of God, while thanking the people of Umunze for the confidence reposed in him. He promised that the newly elected executive will carry everybody along and ensure meaningful development in Umunze, expressing satisfaction with the developmental strides of Governor Soludo in the state as well as the outstanding leadership which Prince Uchendu has continued to exhibit in Orumba South.
* The people of Ogbunka in Orumba South LGA recently converged on Umunnebo village to pay their last respects to their late traditional prime minister Chief Mathew Ezeabikwa. The Late Chief Ezeabikwa, an Engineer, retired as a Teacher at the Federal College of Education, Technical, Umunze and contributed to the growth, development and peace of the community. He died at the age of seventy-two. The traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Johnmark Anyaoha in company of some traditional rulers in Anambra South Senatorial District led by their Chairman, Igwe Clifford Okeke of Nawfija received the body of the late Chief Ezeabiakwa at Nka Palace, Ogbunka where a brief commendation service took place.
* To mark the 91st birthday of a renowned Diplomat and Statesman, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has commissioned the Emeka and Bunmi Anyaoku Foundation Center, Obosi. The Center houses a museum that exhibits cultural artefacts from Anambra, Nigeria and the multi racial Commonwealth countries . It also has a library of books and materials, which include some of the personal papers of Chief Anyaoku, from his days in office, as Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.
* MD of Awka Capital Development Authority (ACTDA) Mr Osita Onuko has said there was no going back on the policy to give Anambra a healthy, environmentally friendly and befitting capital city. Angel Network News reports that the ACTDA boss stated this while reacting to the outcry over the demolition of shanties and business sites standing on roads, walkways and unapproved locations within the capital city. Onuko said his agency had carried out sufficient sensitisation and issued repeated warnings to the traders to vacate unapproved locations to no avail adding that the loss to the affected persons was unavoidable.

Holding a dear place in our hearts as a son of Anambra and as a global icon, Chief Anyaoku’s influence reaches across continents. Each encounter with him fills me with inspiration, and I find myself sincerely aspiring to a fraction of his grace and dedication as I grow.
Chief Anyaoku’s life has been marked by his service on a global stage, exemplified by his diligent representation of the Commonwealth’s 54 member states, underscoring his priceless global contributions. It occurs to me that we have not celebrated this hero of ours enough. Today is thus significant; it is a day for acknowledging his immense achievements and expressing our profound gratitude.
I fervently encourage everyone to visit this remarkable center to truly appreciate its magnificence and the essence of the man it celebrates. It is incumbent upon us to promote our culture and successes globally; if we do not champion our own narrative, who else will? Soludo said.
