* Famous politician and businessman, Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu has applied for heavy security operatives around to enable him to be in his Osumenyi community in the Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State. To perform some function early in January 2024

Ukachukwu who recently married Miss Universe Nigeria, Mitchel Ihezue, in separate letters to heads of security agencies in the state, said he would need the security operatives because of insecurity in the area.

* A member of the Igwe’s cabinet in Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Uche Nworah has reacted to the incident of violence during the community’s masquerade festival. The festival is an annual event, where masquerades assembly at the village square in a whipping contest. This year’s event however ended in violence as fight broke out, while many spectators fell victim and were whipped by masquerades, leaving many injured.

* Dr. John Chukwudi Metchie, the President-General of Umueri community in Anambra-East Local Government Area of Anambra State, who also doubles as the Prime Minister of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) has defined stewardship for Nigerian leaders. This definition of a transparent and accountable stewardship was the crux of the matter as Metchie presented his scorecard to the people of Umueri. 

* Member representing Awka South one constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Nigeria Henry Mbachu has  co-sponsoring free fuel to over 500 vehicles and individuals. Mbachu who was joined by member House of Representatives for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Prof. Lilian Oby Orogbu said the gesture was aimed at easing economic hardship among his constituents.

He said the gesture which started at Epo Filling Station, Awka, would extend to other strategic stations.

* Former managing director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Chief George Moghalu has said that imposition of candidate will ruin the chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in producing the next Governor of Anambra state come 2025.

Apparently referring to the growing influence of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah (who recently defected to the APC) in the party, Moghalu said a tenant cannot sack the landlord. Moghalu who was former national auditor of the party in a chat with newsmen noted that the issue of integration does not arise “because you can only talk about integration for someone outside.”

* Professor Stephen Uchenna Ufoaroh, Former Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (ASUU-UNIZIK), has emerged the new President General of Ifitedunu Town Union, in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State. ANN reports that the election which took place at the community’s civil centre was conducted with the option A4 voting system used by the electoral committee for all the contested posts, as indigenes queued behind their preferred candidates and were counted, while the election was supervised by the State Government through the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.

* Nigerian billionaire Prince Arthur Eze has reconciled with his two nephews, Prince Olisa Eze and Prince Onyeka, whom he claimed had offended him for an extended period. Arthur announced that he had forgiven his nephews at the 40th memorial service of his late father, Prince Michael Anekwe Eze at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Oranto, Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Anambra State. The billionaire had accused his nephews of fraudulently diverting money from his business for their personal use.

* The Founder of Volic Group of Companies Limited and I. G. Aguowo Health and Academic Foundation, Ichie Ignatius Onyekachukwu Aguowo, recently won “the Philanthropic Person of the Year 2023 Award” by the FREENEWS Magazine. The Magazine said it recognised Aguowo as one of Nigeria’s greatest giver, affirming that his heart and his generosity are as expanse as the size of a vault.

In his response, Chief Aguowo, said that giving back to the society especially, at this present hard times in Nigeria, gives him a sense of purpose in life.

* As a way of thanking God for gifting him with the fruit of the womb, (twin babies, both boys), which has eluded him for years now and also for appreciating the executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their steadfastness, the former National Auditor of the party, Sir Paul Chukwuma, on Saturday, 16th December, shared over 800 bags of rice, as well as cash gifts to all the local government areas and the state executives of the party.
