# First Power Electricity Distribution Company Limited held a high-level engagement with community leaders and other stakeholders in Anambra South Senatorial District, reaffirming the firm’s commitment to improving electricity supply across the State.

The meeting, which was held at Ukpor at the invitation of the Senator representing Anambra South, Senator Emma Nwachukwu, brought together Presidents-General of communities and representatives of all Local Government Areas within the senatorial district to deliberate on sustainable solutions to the area’s power supply challenges.

Speaking at the meeting, the Managing Director of First Power, Mr. Okechukwu Okafor, who led the company’s management team, outlined concrete steps being taken to enhance electricity delivery in the district and across the State.

Okafor reaffirmed First Power’s alignment with the vision of the Anambra State Governor to drive development through the provision of adequate and reliable electricity to all sectors of the economy, restating the firm’s role as a key partner in the state’s socio-economic transformation.

# Over 200 children of Idemili South were treated to an unforgettable Christmas experience at Solution Fun City, Awka.

The Children communities came together to share joy, laughter, and beautiful festive memories.

The event was graced by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Lady Oluchi Ibezim, who represented the wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo. She highlighted Governor Soludo administration’s commitment to the happiness and well-being of children.

# Ichida community celebrated its annual Children’s Christmas Party at Ichida Civic Centre, bringing together children from across the community for a day of fun, celebration, and goodwill.

The colourful event, was organised as part of Deputy Leader’s commitment to putting smiles on the faces of children during the festive season and the celebration was 9th edition of the event.

The Deputy Leader of Congress of Councillors in Anaocha LGA, Hon. Chinweogo Uba described the gathering as a moment of happiness and reflection, emphasizing the importance of nurturing and protecting children as future leaders.

She appreciated stakeholders, president general of Ichida, members of Congress of Councillors especially Speaker, traditional rulers and his council members for their support and dedication towards the success of the programme.

# The Obosi Night of Praise and Worship was a remarkable spiritual gathering that brought together believers from within and beyond Idemili for an unforgettable encounter with God.

The event was hosted by the President and Founder of the Eric Nnamdi Anyamene Foundation (ENAF), Hon. Eric Anyamene, whose passion for promoting worship, unity, and godliness in the community was evident throughout the night.

A major highlight of the programme was the hosting of renowned gospel music minister, Chinyere Udoma, popularly known for her powerful and spirit-filled ministration.

Her presence in the land of Obosi added great spiritual depth and excitement to the event, drawing a massive crowd of worshippers who came with great expectations.

# Eze Mbaukwu, Igwe Peter Nwokike Anugwu has bestowed the chieftaincy title of “Ukwunna” on Uzu Okagbue.

The respected and well-travelled monarch conferred this chieftaincy title on Uzu during his 84th birthday celebration, which he marked in his palace at Mbaukwu, Awka South LGA, Anambra State.

Uzu Okagbue, who was the YPP Deputy Governorship candidate in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State Governorship Election, was the Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to the immediate past governor of Anambra State.

During the conferment of the title, Igwe Anugwu described Uzu as his son and his friend. “Uzu is my son. He is my friend,” Igwe said. The Monarch also recalled how an initial plan to confer the chieftaincy on Uzu became a tool for political machinations, which prompted him to defer the honour to his birthday.

# The Anambra State Police Command wishes to remind traders, business owners and residence across the State to exercise heightened caution and strictly observe fire safety measures during the festive season and harmattan.

The Command notes that the dry weather conditions and strong winds associated with the harmattan period significantly increase the risk of fire outbreaks, particularly in markets, shops, warehouses, and residential areas.

In a press statement signed Anambra Police Command spokesman, SP. Ikenga Tochukwu, traders and residents are, therefore, advised to ensure the proper use and handling of electrical appliances, avoid the use of naked flames, and always switch off power sources when not in use. Where possible, fire extinguishers and other basic firefighting equipment should be made readily available.

The Police Command further urges members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any fire outbreak, emergency, or suspicious activity to the nearest Police Station or through designated emergency channels.

# It was an epoch making event at the newly unveiled multi million naira Permanent Igwe’s Palace, Abatete as His Royal Majesty Igwe Engr. Chinyelugo Emeka Efobi, Edeogu II of Abatete Ancient Kingdom celebrated his 5th Ofala festival to mark 20 years on the throne.

The occasion was pomp and pageantry
as dignitaries thronged the new palace to felicitate with Igwe Abatete and to witness the honoring of some deserving Sons and Daughters of Idemili with chieftaincy titles.

The event which featured celebration of Illustrious Sons of Idemili North and South attracted all the 17 traditional rulers.

Igwe Efobi urged his people to maintain that love and peace which Abatete is known for, and asked God to give longevity to all the people of Abatete.

# The Mayor of Njikoka LGA, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba has commissioned a 1km road project executed by Chief Barr. Sir J.S.C. Ekwunife (Okwuatuegwu) in Enugwu-Ukwu.

Barr. Ononiba commended Chief Barr. Sir Ekwunife for his vision and generosity, describing the road as a vital boost to local infrastructure.

In addition to the road, the Mayor also commissioned other essential community projects including the installation of solar street lights, a modern bus shelter, and a functional borehole — all donated by Chief Barr. Sir Ekwunife for the benefit of the people of Enugwu-Ukwu.

These projects are aimed at enhancing mobility, safety, and access to clean water within the community.

Barr. Ononiba used the occasion to echo the call of Governor Chukwuma Soludo for more Public-Private-Community Partnerships (PPCP).

He encouraged other well-meaning stakeholders in Enugwu-Ukwu and across Njikoka to emulate this act of service by collaborating with government to bring development to the grassroots, stressing that collective efforts are key to achieving sustainable progress.
