* The letter requesting for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will get to the Attorney General of the federation, Alhaji Abubakar Malami, in a matter of days. This was the statement of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo while appearing on Channels Television flagship programme, “Politics Today” anchored by Seun Okinbaloye
* The senatorial ambition of Senator Uche Ekwunife, has suffered setbacks, as some of the Communities in her Constituency are chasing her away from campaign grounds .
The communities are telling her they don’t want her representation again, saying the person they want to represent them is Senator Victor Umeh. According to a reliable source, she ran for her dear life in some of the communities, including Akwu Ukwu and Nnokwa among others.
* Public Affairs Analyst and the former Managing Director of Anambra State Signage Advertisement Agency ANSAA Chief Jude Emecheta has described Governor Soludo as a pan Nigerian noted that his call for unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu reflected the wishes and desire of well meaning Ndigbo and peace loving Nigerians.
Chief Emecheta noted that there is absolute need for Nnamdi Kanu to be released from detention as his freedom would help to restore effective security and sustainable peace that will help to achieve a liveable and prosperous Anambra State and Southeast Zone.
* Prof. Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Ikechebelu, FAMedS, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) has just been re-appointed for another term of two years on the saddle as the DVC (Administration) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State. The reappointment took effect at the 217th Senate meeting of the institution held at the University Auditorium.
* Goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed by a fire outbreak in Isuanuocha in Awka North Local government area of Anambra state. The incident which started at about 12am took the assistance of neighbors in the area before the fire was put out after several phone calls to the Anambra State Fire Service yielded no result. The shop owners had gone home when a security man on duty noticed the brazen fire from one of the shops and started alerting the people.
* Anambra state government has charged communities to take responsibilities for the security of contractors and equipment sent to work in their various communities. The Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma gave the directive in his office when he had meetings with Stakeholders and Community leaders from Ogbaru Local Government Area.
* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Hon. Uche Okafor has described the former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku as the pride of the African nations at the International Community. Felicitating Chief Anyaoku on his ninetieth birthday, Right Hon. Okafor noted that the elder statesman discharged his duties at the Commonwealth creditably and was recognized by various organs of the International Community.
* The FC Ogbalu’s Annual Memorial Lecture will hold on Tuesday next week in Awka.
Members of the late Chief F. C Ogbalu Annual Memorial Lecture Planing Committee disclosed this when they visited the Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service Mr Chido Obidiegwu and his management team in Awka. The team led by the Dean, Faculty of Arts of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Greg Obiamalu said the lecture series is scheduled to hold at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University University Auditorium.
* Anambra State Traditional Rulers have advised the general public to make out time for the collection of their Permanent Voter’s Cards as 2023 general elections draw closer.
The royal fathers gave the advice in an interview with journalists in Awka. While speaking on the need, the traditional ruler of Umuoba Anam Community, Igwe George Ekwealor and his Umuona Community counterpart, Igwe Humphrey Ejesieme, said that as the elections draw nearer, Nigerians have yearned for security and economic stability, noting voting in a good leader, will address those challenges.
