The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area in Anambra State, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi (Iyom Idemili), has drummed support for all the APGA’s candidates in the upcoming general elections.
The Council Boss stated that Idemili South stakeholders would work assiduously for the victory of the party at all levels and vowed to leave no stone unturned to ensure massive turnout on election day. Iyom Idemili further stated that APGA remained the party of hope for the people, noting that it was keen on rebuilding our nation.
* All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Orumba South Constituency Holds stakeholders’ meeting for the party’s flag bearers in forthcoming 2023 general election, strategise on the modalities to cruise to Victory. The meeting was attended by major stakeholders in the area as they chart a way forward for the progress of APGA in the area.
The Transition chairman of Orumba South, Hon Prince Nevile Uchendu thanked the party faithfuls for their show of love and support to the Soludo administration and noted that the meeting was necessary to encourage candidates and as well as adopt strategies that will bring victory to the party.
* The member representing Nnewi South One Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Sunny Ozobialu has urged his constituents to collect their Permanent Voter Cards in order to vote in the 2023 general elections. The legislator made the call in Awka while speaking on the essence of the PVC collection. Ozobialu reminded his constituents who registered for the PVC’s last year but have not collected it that the collection of the Permanent Voter’s Card is ongoing at the ward level where they registered to vote.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo says the Labour Party’s flag bearer, Peter Obi may win the February 25, 2023, presidential election in Anambra State. He, however, doubted the chances of his predecessor to win the overall presidential election next month. ” I wish Peter Obi the best of luck. Let him go and compete as others,” Soludo said on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday. We (APGA) are also competing in the same race. We have our own candidate (Peter Umeadi), who is also son of the soil, coincidentally from Anambra State as well, and he will do his own bit, get his own votes,” he explained
* The partnership bond between on development of export emporium between Anambra and the United States has once again been strengthened. Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR when the Consul General at the U.S. Consulate in Lagos, Mr Stevens Will paid him courtesy visit at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia called for the partnership. According to the Governor who addressed the media shortly after a closed door session with his visitor, said their discussion centered on opportunities which abound in trade investment and technology innovations.
* Residents Electoral Commissioner (REC) Anambra State, Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu has reiterated its preparedness to conduct free, fair, credible and peaceful 2023 general elections. Dr. Agwu during an interface with community youth leaders from the 179 communities in the State pleaded with ndi Anambra to cooperate with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in making sure that the electoral processes go successful
* Anambra State Police Command has intensify it’s efforts in addressing the recent security breaches in some of the hostels along Ifite and other parts of Awka the state capital. The Commissioner of Police, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations DCP John Obuagbaka met with the management of Nnamdi Azikwe University, the student union government, and the Commissioner of Homeland security affairs in the Vice chancellor’s conference hall at Unizik.
* The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Anambra State Branch has decried the insecurity of medical doctors working assiduously to save lives in Anambra State.
The association also frowns at the incessant assaults unleashed on doctors on call by patients’ relatives. The association also drew the attention of the Anambra State Government to the blight cast on medical doctors, who every now and then, receive messages of threats to their lives and those of their families in the course of duty, especially on Sit-At-Home days.
* Five people from different families escaped being burnt to death, as fire suspected to have emanated from electrical fault razed a four-room apartment at Araba Street Awka, the Anambra State capital. The incident, which started around 2: am in the morning, was suspected to have emanated from a spark from electrical connections in one of the rooms of the apartment.
* Reconstruction work has progressed on the Club street -Ngozika and Regina-Caeli -Old INEC-Y-junction road in Awka. Men of the Niger Cat construction company, the firm handling the project were seen at various points discharging their duties, as stone base and MC One have been completed from the Ngozika end of the road to the beginning of Club street by Regine-Caeli junction.
* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev Paulinu Ezeokafor was at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Ifitedunu, in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State for the burial of Late Mrs Celina Obianuju Nwankwo. Ezeokafor also urged votes to get their PVC stating that one vote can make the difference.
* The Students Union Government (SUG) President of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) Comrade Charles Ijeomah has described the constant robbery and rape cases currently rocking some lodges in Ifite as very worrisome. The SUG President noted that the students of the institution now live in fear, as no one knows when and where the miscreants will storm. While noting that such situation should not be left for the school Management or the SUG to handle, Comrade Ijeomah called on Anambra State Governor, Prof. Soludo, to urgently intervene and tighten up the security of the area.
