* An elder statesman Chief Rommy Okoli has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to partner Anambra stakeholders in the interest of development of the state and prosperity of the People instead of engaging them in needless fighting. Angel Network News reports that Okoli, a former executive chairman of Nnewi South Local Government Area who spoke to journalists in Awka recently expressed worry over what he described as saddening and negative socio -political development in Anambra.
* Anambra State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), Mrs Blessing Iruma has appealed to community stakeholders to prioritise the security and welfare of corps members serving in their communities in order to maximize their potential. Angel Network News reports that the NYSC Coordinator stated that they have initiated efforts to rekindle the spirit of corps members to perform community development services which she said is a strategy to create lasting legacies in their host communities. Mrs Iruma who made the appeal while speaking in Nibo, Awka south council area of the state, maintained that harnessing the potential of corps members remains a catalyst for the development of the communities and its citizens.
* Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye has commissioned the Police station built in Ozubulu by the Chairman and Founder, Ebubechukwuzo Foundation, Chief Alloysuis Ikegwuonu. CP Adeoye who described the edifice as gigantic and up to standard, urged the Ozubulu police division which covers Ozubulu and Ihembosi communities to ensure security of life and property of the people in the area and that innocent people are not detained there. Angel Network News reports that While appreciating the benefactor, Adeoye recalled that he was at the community earlier in the year to commission a security post for vigilante operatives, noting that it goes a long way to show that they look out for one another.
* The Anambra State Road and Traffic Maintenance Agency, ARTMA, has lamented over the continuous turning of roads into parks while there were designated points created for the purpose. ARTMA recently visited the Onitsha-Owerri road by Upper Iweka, where they warned the bus drivers to be law abiding. The agency also installed road signs with the inscription, ‘No Loading. Use The Parks’ According to the Managing Director of ARTMA, Engr. Emeka Okonkwo, after proper enlightenment, the agency would impound defaulters without an option of fine. Vehicles would be impounded for 7 days for first offenders and 14 days subsequently.”
* The Women Initiatives For Greater Anambra (WIGA) has congratulated the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa on the auspicious celebration of his birth anniversary. The Women Initiatives For Greater Anambra in a congratulatory message signed by their convener, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi said Ezeokenwa has proven to be a sagacious leader, who continues to work tirelessly for the progress of the party.
* Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo has expressed the need for elected political leaders who occupy elective positions, not to avoid the people who voted them into office or make themselves inaccessible. In a brief media chat with newsmen, the philanthropist and major APC stakeholder in Anambra State stated that political leaders who began to avoid the people after they were sworn into office, have failed to understand the purpose for which they were elected into office.
* Nkpor community in Idemili-North Local Government Area of Anambra State has declared total war on criminal elements in the area. The declaration which came on the heels of cult clashes, robbery attacks and other forms of criminal activities in the community, was the collective resolve of the people to reduce insecurity to the bearest minimum as well as enthrone a tranquil atmosphere devoid of panic for indigenes and residents of the community.
* Former lawmaker who represented Onitsha North constituency at the Anambra state house of assembly Barr. Chugbo Enwezor says the suspension of Igwe Neni by Governor Chukwuma Soludo is unjustifiable, has no basis in Law. Enwezor also said that the government’s action was ill-conceived. “Such decisions were not well thought-out. It is an infringement on the fundamental rights of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who is a distinguished Nigerian by the provisions of the constitution and the Igwe of Neni who conferred the title”. The former lawmaker described the suspension as “eratic, illegal, highhandedness and conscription of freedom” by the governor. Regretting that such mundane things should preoccupy the governor, Hon. Enwezor also emphasized that the traditional rulers in question have absolutely no need to apologize to anybody.
