# Anambra State House of Assembly at plenary, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the effective security measures implemented during the Christmas and New Year festive periods.
In a motion sponsored by Hon. Jude Umennajiego representing Onitsha South two Constituency, the House, while commending Soludo urged the Governor to maintain the tempo.
According to Umennajiego, “Anambra State and indeed the Southeast region was ravaged by grave Insecurity, including kidnapping, abductions, killings, violent robberies and other vices. Criminal camps and cells were littered in several locations in Anambra State.
# Dr. Nelson Omenugha, top aide to the Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has been appointed by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide as a member of the Committee for the Crafting of the Igbo Charter of Demands
The appointment was conveyed in a letter and signed by the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta-Mbata.
In the letter made available to journalists, Senator Azuta-Mbata explained that the Committee was constituted as part of a deliberate effort by Ohanaeze Ndigbo to create a unified and well-defined position on what Ndigbo will offer to Nigeria and what the Igbo nation expects in return from the Nigerian state.
According to the letter, Dr. Omenugha, a Communication scholar, social entrepreneur and public affairs analyst, who currently serves as the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, is expected to work with other Committee members towards achieving a 5-point terms of reference assigned to it by the Apex Igbo Socio-Cultural organization, within a stipulated timeframe.
# Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state has postponed the 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony of the institution.
According to a memo signed by the register, Dr Chinenye Okeke, the event earlier slated for January 23, 2026 is now going to hold on February 13, 2026 at the various faculties.
It regretted the inconveniences the adjustment may cause the community, particularly the newly admitted students.
# The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has formally declared open a five-day training programme on Strategic Police Conduct, Emotional Intelligence, Human Relations, Communication Skills and Attitudinal Change for officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Anambra State.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, and made available to journalists, the training is holding at the Trig-Point Hotel Hall, Awka, and is sponsored by the Police Trust Fund.
According to the statement, the programme is aimed at strengthening professionalism, enhancing operational effectiveness and promoting ethical, people-centred policing.
Ikenga disclosed that the training, which is scheduled to end on January 23, 2026, has participants drawn from various departments and formations within the Anambra State Police Command. The officers are expected to benefit from intensive sessions focused on modern policing techniques and positive behavioural transformation.
# A Bill for a Law to provide for the revision, printing and publication of the Revised Laws of Anambra State and for connected purposes, has scaled through second reading.

who presided plenary, constituted an adhoc ‘Law Review Committee’ to be headed by Hon. Mimiy Ikpeazu Azikiwe.
Rt. Hon. Udeze referred the bill the adhoc committed urging them to do a detailed job work on the 221 bills of Anambra State and report back within four weeks.
# The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Family in Nawgu community of
Dunukofia Local Government Area have collectively declared that there is no vacancy in the Mayorship, citing the outstanding performance and people-oriented leadership of the incumbent Council Chairman, Barr. Chijioke Ozumba.
The endorsement ceremony, which took place at the palace of the traditional ruler of Nawgu, Igwe George Okaa-Onwuogu, witnessed a massive turnout of party members, community leaders, and stakeholders, reflecting widespread support for the Mayor’s re-election bid.

# Barrister Chinedu Ononiba has commended Njiloka Vollyball Team for clinching second position In Anambra Championship.
Hon. Ononiba who is the Chairman of Njikoka local government area while speaking in his office said Njikoka Volleyball Team has recorded a remarkable achievement by finishing second at the Anambra State Volleyball Championship, a competition that featured teams from the 21 local government areas of the state.
In her remarks, the First Lady of Njikoka, Mrs. Pamela Ononiba, disclosed that the Njikoka Volleyball Team is an offshoot of the Healthy Living Programme championed by Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the First Lady of Anambra State.
