* Knights Of St Christopher, Diocese of the Niger, family day celebration and rededication was another opportunity to celebrate the new year, re-examine their relationship with God and commit themselves to greater service of humanity. In a sermon to mark the service which took place at the All Saints Cathedral Onitsha, the Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo who listed steps to receive God’s favour to include faith and confidence in God, asking for God’s help among others, charged the soldiers of Christ to aim at living godly and acceptable life. The over two hundred knights who were fully dressed in their regalia, took oath of allegiance to Christ thus rededicating themselves amidst prayers and special thanksgiving by the knights.

* The President-General of Ogbunka Development Union in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Jude Chukwubueze, has banned youth activities in the community till further notice. Angel Network News reports that the ban came following violent disruption of election of the youth association by some members of the group. Chief Chukwubueze said the ban is part of measures to restore law and order in the community, and called on relevant authorities and groups in the community, to support the effort and set Ogbunka on the path of sustainable development.

* Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has explained that one of the measures to redeem basic culture and revered traditions is for parents and guardians to be intentional in teaching their children to appreciate the beauty of who they are and where they come from. Mrs Soludo who was speaking in Awka, noted that the existential threats faced by native languages and traditions can be averted if parents and custodians of traditions can take more conscious steps to save the drift. 

* Anambra State government has inaugurated students’ wing of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade known as OCHA-NANS. Angel Network News reports that the inauguration ceremony which took place at Nnamdi Azikiwe University recently tagged “Towards Clean And Healthy Campus” is targeted at ensuring that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision and mission for a better Anambra is adopted and implemented in all aspects of human endeavour. Addressing the students, Comrade Celestine Anere expressed delight with the enthusiasm of the students in aligning with the state government’s policies and programmes and revealed that the campaign for a cleaner and greener state cannot be carried out by only the government alone. 

* Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command has arrested seven persons parading themselves as private security guards. Speaking on the arrest on Sunday in Awka, the newly deployed Anambra Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Olatunde Maku vowed to sanitize the operations of Private Security Companies in the state. Angel Network News reports that Comdt. Maku cautioned companies and individuals in the state to desist from establishing a private guard company without following due process. 

* The Transition Chairman of Anaocha LGA, Hon. Gerald Ikechukwu Ozoh has reward ‘Road Traffic Volunteers Officers’ who ensure smooth passage of vehicles during the festive season. The Coordinator of ARTMA Anaocha LGA, Mrs Nonye Ezenwankwo, thanked the TC Chairman for delivering on his promise. She also appreciates his efforts and supports to ARTMA in the council  area.

* The Coordinator of Anambra North Soludo Ambassadors, Hon. Nwachinemere Kingsley Nnanna has said that the group are ready for the massive rally. Nwachinemere made the statement during the strategic meeting of Anambra North coordinators of Soludo Ambassadors hosted by Deputy National Coordinator, Ambassador Chibuzor Ekwenye at Umueri Recreation Club, Otuocha.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Ben Obidike has applauded the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Global Fund for the ongoing reconstruction of the State Pharmaceutical Central Store in the State. Angel Network News reports that Dr. Obidike said this while inspecting the ongoing reconstruction of the State Pharmaceutical Central Store to modern Central Store in Awka. The Commissioner said the ongoing reconstruction is in partnership with Global Fund, UNICEF and the State Government. 

* The crises rocking Tansian University, Oba campus is far from over, as Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, chairman of Ranent Industries Nigeria Ltd has again asked the National Universities Commission NUC to shut down the campus. Ezeonwuka in a Press Statement said it has come to a point where the current management of the university have perfected an evil plan to take over the property, which he said he used to secure the university’s licence for the founder, late Rev Fr Johnbosco Akam.
