* Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner in Anambra State, Dr Elizabeth Agwu said they have mobilised both human and material resources, including security for a credible House of Representatives rerun holding across 21 polling units on February 3rd, 2024. Angel Network News reports that Dr. Agwu disclosed this at a media interactive session held at INEC headquarters in Awka, the state capital. Dr. Agwu assured the residents, especially voters that their votes would count, adding that none would be intimidated, molested or disfranchised.
* Anambra State Government are making plans to develop cluster sells points withing Awka capital to accommodate displaced street traders. Angel Network News reports that to this end, government have designated various temporary locations for the traders who had been causing obstruction in major roads across the capital city to continue their businesses pending the completion of the sells points. The Head of Development Control, Awka Capital Territory Development Agency, ACTDA, Mr Charles Ekwunife stated this when he led a team to sensitize members of the public on government policies towards making Awka a mega city.
* The Member representing Awka North and South Federal Constituency Professor Oby Lilian Orogbu has mourn the passing of Rt. Hon Anayo Nnebe, the former Speaker of Anambra assembly. Prof. Orogbu described the late Nnebe as a visionary leader who had a clear agenda for the development and welfare of the state.
* Members of Ulonese Umudioka Awka has paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) Mr. Ossy Onuko in his office in Awka, Anambra State. Leader of the delegation, Chief Fidelis Nwokike (Ojemba Awka) said it was a visit of solidarity to their illustrious son from Umudioka who has done and is still doing extremely well as posterity will judge him right.

* The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it will be calling 15 witnesses to prove the N4bn theft charges it filed against a former governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano. The prosecuting counsel for the EFCC, Slyvanus Tahir (SAN), disclosed this on Wednesday shortly after Obiano was arraigned on nine counts before the Federal High Court in Abuja. After Obiano pleaded not guilty to the charges before Justice Inyang Ekwo, the prosecutor said the EFCC was ready and eager to prosecute the case, noting that 15 witnesses were on hand to prove the case.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu has described the January twenty-third meeting of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and traditional rulers of Anambra State led by the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, as splendid revelation in solidarity. Nwosu said Governor Soludo convened the get-together attended by ninety-four traditional rulers as a part of the consultative meetings with stakeholders to review the progress of the state.
* A bill for a law to establish private collages of Nursing sciences and midwifery in Anambra state and other comnected thereto has been read for the third time and passed into law at the Anambra State House of Assembly.
* Anambra State Government has commended the State Fire Service for its proactiveness in averting the fire that erupted at Valuation House, Awka. The state government issued the commendation in a press release signed by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Honourable Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche. The Anambra State Fire Service had averted the fire incident which was said to have begun around eleven o’ clock in the morning on Tuesday at a two-story plaza in the area.
* Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described Catholic Bishop Of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye and the Catholic Bishop of Aguleri Diocese, Most Rev. Dennis Isizoh as a true men of God.
