* The lawmaker representing Ihiala Federal Constituency at the National Assembly Rt. Hon. Dr. Paschal Agbodike has said that it is possible that Anambra can be the safest state in Nigeria, if all hands are on deck to fight insecurity to standstill.
Rt. Hon. Agbodike who spoke in Awka while fielding questions from newsmen, opined that the governor has launched Operation Udo Ga Achi and not Operation Violence which implied that everyone should join forces with the state government to restore lasting peace in the state because he believes that security is everybody’s business.
Agbodike stated that Anambra State is not the worst hit in insecurity as other states, according to him, have security challenges but Governor Soludo, he said has assured that through collaborative efforts Anambra can be the safest state in the country.
* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor says the greatest thanksgiving one had to give was to be on good terms with God.
The Bishop, who admonished Christians to always appreciate God for His blessings, recounted the Biblical story of 10 lepers, noting that God expected thanksgiving from man.
The Prelate while speaking at St Francis Catholic Church, Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State, during a thanksgiving celebration of the family of Sir Charles Omalu, encouraged Christians to always be thankful.
* The Solution Students Movement of Nigeria, a coalition of student leaders in Anambra State has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his outstanding achievements in governance.
The delegation included Student Union Government (SUG) President of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Ezehiri Josaphat Chinonye; the immediate past SUG President of Nwafor Orizu College of Education Anambra State, John Mary Nnanwuba; and the Vice President of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Coordinator of Solution Student Movement of Nigeria, Amb. Chidi Favour.
The group paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) at his office in Awka to express their support for Governor Soludo’s developmental agenda.
Speaking during the visit, the Managing Director of ACTDA Mr. Ossy Onuko appreciated the students for their commitment and enthusiasm in supporting Governor Soludo vision for a liveable and prosperous homeland.
* Newly matriculating students have been
warned against cultism, examination misconduct, certificate forgery and other vices.
The Acting Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu gave the warning on Friday at the official matriculation of year one students into the institution, marking the formal end of the 2024/2025 admission exercise.
Ikechebelu underscored the importance of academic excellence, urging students to take their studies seriously.
The Acting VC said while exam malpractice would attract suspension for up to three years and even expulsion, students found to have registered with fake certificates would be expelled from the University.
* The Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Ernest Ezeajuh has urged corps members in the State to support and promote indigenous products, particularly Made in Nigeria goods.
Ezeajuh who represented Soludo while speaking at the Swearing In Ceremony of 1,830 Batch C, Stream Two corps members at NYSC Camp Umuawulu/Mbaukwu,Awka South Local Government Area of the State, the governor urged them to be torchbearers of national integration, tolerance and unity upon which the nation’s progress rests.
Ezeajuh said such support would grow the state economy, empower local entrepreneurs, and create sustainable jobs for the people.
The Chief of Staff encouraged them to utilise favourable youth development opportunities in the state, contribute their talents and participate actively in programs that would build their future.
* The Chairman of Idemili North local government area, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka
has registered two thousand five hundred (2,500) persons into Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme (ASHIA).
Nkwoka while speaking at the event which was also used to mark his hundred days in office, held at Idemili North Council Secretariat, Ogidi, revealed that those registered includes the elderly, children aged five years and below and security personnel.
The Mayor maintained that the event was targeted at providing qualitative health care service for the local government area through ASHIA.
Highpoints of the event included the commissioning of a new minibus for use as ambulance, and unveiling of unified sign post and painting of primary health care centres in the council area.

* The Mayor of Idemili South local government area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his administration’s commitment to education and social development as the world celebrates 2025 International Day Of Education today.
Hon. Obi said that Governor Soludo’s intervention on education sector is a testament to his dedication to secure a better future for the youths and the state, stating that it is rare to see such strong commitment to education sector and appreciated Mr. Governor for taking this bold initiative.
The Mayor highlighted the Governor’s prioritization of education, healthcare, and economic growth, positioning him as one Nigeria’s most progressive state leaders.
Hon. Obi added that Ndi Anambra does not only have access to free education but also access to quality healthcare, adding that Governor Soludo has created an education system that empowered youths and makes them employable and less prone to desperation.
* No fewer than 37 suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested in Anambra State by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
This was disclosed in a statement made available to newsmen, in which the Commission also disclosed that the suspects were arrested in a sting operation at Commissioners’ Quarters, Dr. J. O. Ukwutinife Close, Ifite, Awka, the capital city of the state.
The statement also revealed that the operation was carried out by the operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Commission.
* Indigent elders in Anambra State who are not affluent enough to maintain a decent livelihood in old age, thus wallowing in penury and deprivation, have been given hope to enjoy the rest of their days in happiness.
This beacon of hope was shown to them when a Charity Organization, known as Heavenly Elderly Charity Arena Foundation was inaugurated for charity work in Anambra State.
The founder of the organization, Chief (Mrs.) Veronica Ulunwa Ikokwu, an America based business woman, who has the virtues of sensitivity, compassion, humanitarianism and magnanimity, brought the charity organization into Anambra State and resolved to replicate the charity found in its counterparts in America where she studied and majored in such projects, in her academic adventure.
