* Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR says that human capital which is the greatest capital of the South East region should be increasingly explored to project the region to a greater economic growth. Governor Soludo stated this during the 2023 South East Human Capital Development Conference held at the International Convention Center, Awka.

* The traditional Ruler of Awka community Obi Gibson Nwosu has charged Nigerians to take full ownership of the Nation’s Electoral process in order to sanitize the system. Speaking on the need for the people to come out en-masse and take active part in next Month’s general election, Obi Nwosu charged the electorate to go to the Independent National Electoral commission INEC offices in both their Local government and electoral wards to collect their permanent voter cards to enable them exercise their franchise during elections.

* Nkwo Nnewi, the biggest automobile market in West Africa has been put under lock and key so marketers and customers and go and pick their permanent voters card (PVC) ahead of the 2023 general elections.The market which consists of the famous motorcycle spare parts, motor spare parts and the F-line were locked after resolution with the market leaders, to help give enough time for their members to collect their PVC to enable them vote in this years general elections.

* The traditional ruler of Nise Community in Awka South local government Area of Anambra state, Igwe Romanus Iloh has charged eligible voters of Nise extraction to ensure that they participate in the forthcoming elections urging them to always respect the constituted authorities. Igwe Iloh while commending Governor Chukwuma Soludo for all his giant strides in Anambra State especially in the area of road construction and reconstruction called for the inclusion of Ngene-Awka-Nise-Nibo-Nkwelle Road in the next phase of the state government’s road rehabilitation programme.

* The Federal High Court 1, Awka presided over by Hon Justice H. A.  Nganjiwa has disqualified Chief Victor Umeh from contesting in the fast approaching Feb 25,2023 Senatorial election for Anambra Central. The court, in a 3- hour judgment which was described by legal practitioners as “erudite”, disqualified Umeh on the grounds of non compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act as it concern the membership status of one to contest a party primary.

* Anambra State, men of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, have apprehended touts and illegal revenue collectors operating around Onitsha Bridge Head and Ugwu-Nwasike Ogidi areas of the State. ANN reports that the suspects were arrested for carrying out nefarious activities, attacking men of OCHA Brigade who were on duty and shortchanging motorists under the guise of government officials.

* The Anambra State government says it has established schools in 283 markets accross the State. The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh stated this during a panel discussion at the on going Human Capacity Development conference holding at the International Convention Center Awka.

She said the move is one of the measures by the Ministry to curb incidence of out of school children in the state. According to the commissioner, the ministry in collaborations with the Children and Women Affairs Ministry would apprehend out of school children in the streets and hand them over to the Ministry of Education for rehabilitation.

* The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Honourable Dozie Nwankwo has inaugurated his campaign at Ezinator in Awka South Local Government Area. His campaign train which visited the three communities that make up Ezinator, namely Ndiorah, Ndikpa and Ntokor was received by jubilant crowds who chanted songs of joy and demanded for the election of the lawmaker to the Senate.

* The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate for the zone, Uche Ekwunife PhD, continues her campaign tour of Awka South LGA with a visit to Nibo community to spread the message of consolidation and continuity. Ekwunife who was in company of the PDP Candidate for Awka North and South federal constituency, Hon Vincent Emeka Igwe and PDP State Assembly Candidate for Awka South Constituency 2, Chief Josiah Ifedi arrived the palace of the Eze Ike Nibo, HRM, Micheal .C. Ngene to appreciate him for his support and officially inform him and his cabinet about her ambition to return to the Senate.

* The Anambra Central Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon Dozie Nwankwo has hailed the judgement of the Federal High Court which nullified the election of the Labour Party Senatorial Candidate, Victor Umeh. Nwankwo who spoke to journalists shortly after the news of the judgement broke described Umeh’s dismissal by the court as unsurprising, noting that he defeated the former APGA National Chairman in the primaries and would defeat him again if he stands the election.

* The Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has welcomed the 2023 Batch A, Stream 1 corps members deployed to the state by the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC). While addressing the corps members, Soludo who was represented by the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Barrister Sylvester Ezeokenwa assured them that they will enjoy there service in Anambra.
