* Anambra State Government has given obstinate and uncooperative traders forty-eight hours from Friday the twenty-sixth day of January to immediately move to the recognized Fruits and Vegetables Market, Ogbaru. In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Markets, Mr. Evarist Uba, the state government warned that where the traders fail to do so, government will be left with no option than to seal up illegal markets where they operate.

* To improve healthcare service delivery at the grassroot, Aguata-Orumba Women Organization of Southern California, United States of America, has provided Comprehensive Primary Health Center, Logbu, Umunze ward two with assorted drugs, two solar light panels with stands, a generator, a stabilizer, a plasma TV and an antenna. Other items include thirty pieces of plastic chairs, a table, a sumo water pump, a role of sumo rope, a role of electric wire, fifteen length pipe and two storage tanks 

* The Anambra State Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Sir Ifeatu Obi-Okoye has expressed absolute confidence in the upcoming re-run in the state.

Chief Obi-Okoye made this statement during the strategic meeting held at Nnewi North Local Government secretariat. The APGA Chairman said that we are highly confident of achieving victory in Nnewi North, South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency coming up on 3rd February, 2024.

* Anambra state commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Anambra State Command, Mr. Daniel Onyishi has called for the cooperation of community leaders to end the menace of trafficking in illicit drugs in the state. Mr. Onyishi, who was speaking when he led a delegation of the management staff of the command to pay a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu, asked community, religious, political and opinion leaders not to see illicit drugs trafficking as a business but as a crime that destroys communities and societies.

* Mrs Chinenye Okonkwo, a 37-year-old widow of Umuodilogu Kindred Oraifite, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, has appealed to the Anambra State Government and human rights organisations to assist her in recovering her late husband’s property from his siblings. Addressing newsmen on Saturday, 27th January 2024 at Oraifite, Mrs Okonkwo said her late husband’s siblings encroached into their land, carried the blocks for their proposed building and sent her and her five childre on exile.

* Anambra State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has reiterated the call for ndị Anambra to prioritize their health. She made the call during the launch of her healthy living programme, “Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo” in Njikoka Local Government Area. Addressing youths and residents, Mrs. Soludo who joined virtually, expressed her passion for health and highlighted that healthy living is the greatest wealth one can attain through regular exercise.

* The Catholic Bishop of Aguleri Diocese, Most Reverend Denis Isizoh said Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu started as Saint Paul’s Senior Seminary, Igbariam in 1924 but later moved to Enugu due to some prevailing circumstances encountered by the early missionaries but said that they were able to ordained many priest before their sojourn to Enugu. Most. Rev. Isizoh while speaking during the foundation stone laying of new Saint Paul’s Minor Seminary, Igbariam in Anambra East Council Area, went down memory lane to recall the journey of the seminary, stating that the pioneer seminarians began their philosophical studies while new intakes combined their studies with the Teachers Higher Elementary Courses. 

* Oyi LG Boss, Hon Emma Nweke to maintain friendly environment, the over 15yrs old heap of refuse dump along Umudioka Awkuzu-Igbariam road has been cleared. Addressing the people during the evacuation, Hon Nweke enlightened the people on the need to create a clean environment devoid of illegal disposing of wastes.

He tasked the people to take ownership of their environment by serving as watch dogs against the people that litter the environment with wastes.

* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has joined millions of Nigerians across the nation in celebrating the Super Eagles’ emphatic 2-0 victory on Saturday over fierce rivals Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in the Round of 16-match of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The governor, reacting to the emphatic victory on Saturday, described the Super Eagles’ performance as “heroic, scintillating, and a display of true Nigerian spirit.”           

He commended the team’s tactical discipline, relentless attacking play, and formidable defending, which ultimately secured a well-deserved win at the historic Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
