* The management of Rainbow Heritage Group, an Estate Development Company, has assured Professor Charles Soludo of their support in actualizing his vision of making Anambra state a livable and prosperous homeland in Nigeria. The Commercial Director of Rainbow Heritage Group, Mrs Prinye Ngelale disclosed this during the official unveiling of “The golf residency Awka, an estate owned by the group.

* Nawgu community in Dunukofia Local Government Area has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for approving contract for the construction of Ukpo junction-Nawgu-Isuaniocha-Ikem Nando road.

Angel Network News reports that President General of Nawgu Development Union, Prince Frank Nwegwu, who conveyed the commendation said awarding the construction of the road is a great gift to the community.

* Umuayom village football team has emerged champions of the first Ife Igbo Peace Cup for villages in Awka Community after six weeks of hostilities. ANN reports that Umuayom lifted the cup after a 2-1 win over Umuzocha Team in the final game decided at the Awka Township Stadium on New Year day. Umuzocha had opened the scoring in the  first half of the encounter but the more tactically superior and determined Umuayom brought the game to osriry before the interval and went ahead in the second half to decide the keenly contested game.

* In a dazzling display of elegance, Miss Christabel Nwaogu from Amaokwe village, Amaokpala in Orumba North Local Government Area has been crowned Ada Amaokpala 2024, after emerging the winner of the community’s beauty contest. The event which is the second edition showcased the beauty, intelligence, and poise of the young women from the community who participated in the contest. 

* The rich cultural heritage of Aguleri people was highlighted during the cultural carnival of Umunta Royal Family, Aguleri in Anambra East council area. The glamorous event which took place at Ama Umunta Royal family square with the illustrious sons and daughters of the family and their in-laws both at home and in diaspora in attendance, provided another opportunity for social interaction and bonding among the Royal Family.

* The North American chapter of 1994 class of Saint Charles Special Science School, Onitsha has embarked on medical mission at Achalla Community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State. The first edition of the health programme was hosted by Achalla Improvement Union, and had as its theme, Health and wellness, a top priority. Before the commencement of the programme, the President General of Achalla Improvement Union, Mr. Nnamdi Ikwunne, led representatives of the team on a courtesy visit to the Traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Ositadimma Nwokedi.

* Mrs Nonye Soludo has challenged youths to invest the data, time and resources to advance their talents and skills. Mrs Soludo gave the charge during the graduation ceremony of over one hundred and seventy-six youths trained in different skill areas by a non governmental organisation, Dalchi Foundation at the skills acquisition centre, Umueze Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

* Women have been urged to sustain campaigns and sensitization against abuse and exploitation of the girl child. The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare Mrs Ify Obinabo made the call at inauguration of Mrs Ifeoma Nwokedi as the President General of Women Wing of Achalla Improvement Union, launching of the Union’s Sienna car, solar lights initiative and end of year children’s forum.

* The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has threatened to shut down operations in Anambra State in a bid to recover debts owed her members by Anambra State government. The debt amounting to about N900 millon Naira was for the supply of Automotive Gas Oil also known as Diesel used to power streetlights before the contracts were terminated by the Soludo administration.

Mr Chinedu Anyaso, Chairman of the IPMAN, Enugu Depot in charge of Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu States announced this in Awka. 

* The Justice Development and Peace Caritas Catholic Diocese of Nnewi has solicited the support and cooperation of government officials towards the success of its Community Resilience Engagement and Management project in Anambra State. Its Director, Rev Father Ben Chima Okolo, made the appeal when he led other members of the organization and representatives of communities on an advocacy visit to the Director Planning in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Arthur Iwuanya.

* Sports Writers Association of Nigeria and Management of Rangers of Enugu have showered encomiums on Polly Emenike, Chairman of NEROS Pharmaceutical for sponsoring the Nanka Champions League for 40 years. ANN reports that the finals of the 40th edition of the Nanka Champions League was held on January 1 2024.
