* Anambra Progressive and Good Governance Association has warned the State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, to restrain his aides from dishing out information that is targeted at misinforming the public. In a statement by its President, Barr. Ifeanyi Nweke, the group warned that the Aides to the governor and members of his ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), unjustly attack members of the opposition parties instead of collaborating with them to develop Anambra for the benefit of all.
* The member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Hon. Peter Aniekwe has commissioned a water borehole he built for the people of Nando in Anambra East Local Government Area. Commissioning the facility, Hon. Aniekwe who thanked the people of Nando for their support, noted that the federal constituency lacks a lot of basic things and that potable water is one of the most critical needs in their area. He further explained that water is part of the things the people of Nando are lacking, hence the construction of the borehole.
* An indigene of Umuatuegwu Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Comrade Ezeamakam Moses, has said that Okija is the safest community in the state.
Ezeamakam Moses who stated that irrespective of the happenings around Anambra, Okija community has not recorded any incidents of Kidnappings, armed robbery or any life-threatening incident in the past one year and six months now.
* Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye treated the tricycle operators in the State (popularly known as Keke Drivers) to sumptuous delicacies and conviviality, to set the tone for the new year. Speaking at the event, Commissioner Adeoye described tricycle operators as integral part of the society, stressing that they also deserve to be treated with respect, given attention, and accorded every right every other citizen of the country enjoys.
* The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, has reminded Christians that in spite of brokenness, man still has values in the hands of God, the potter.
Speaking at the Cathedral Church of Saint John Ekwulobia during rededication service for members of Aguata Diocesan Men’s Fellowship and Mothers Union, Bishop Ezeofor, who centered his message on “Broken for the better”, said God is interested in, and can make something new out of man’s broken life if allowed by man.
* Anambra State government through the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) has banned open defection around the UNIZIK Junction. Angel Network News reports that the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ACTDA Osita Onuko, disclosed this to at the weekend. Expressing dismay over continued indiscriminate open defecation in the capital city, especially in gutters around the UNIZIK Junction, Onuko recounted ACTDA’s persistent efforts in cleaning the area. He revealed the Agency’s latest decision to station some officers of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade) in the area for strict enforcement against such acts, henceforth.
* Soil-Cement Stabilisation will commence on the ongoing Awkuzu-Umunya road this week. Earth work has been completed up to Umunya end with drainage construction completed on both sides of the road. Angel Network News reports that presently, sand filling is ongoing on Nengo River axis of the road where culvert has been completed on both sides of the river.
* The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, has indicated interest to contest the state’s 2025 governorship election. Ubah stated this in a chat with some journalists in his Nnewi country home on Sunday. He pledged to do a single term in office to complete the turn of the Anambra South Senatorial District in the spirit of the gentleman’s agreement guiding the zoning and rotation of the governorship position of the state since 2014.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has concluded plans to build a 10-storey hotel in Awka, the state capital. Angel Network News gathered that it would be part of his administration’s efforts to catalyze the economic transformation of the state. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Osita Onuko, disclosed this while speaking recently.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Local Government Area, Comrade ThankGod Anago says Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s free education policy will revolutionize Anambra State’s education sector. Comrade Anago who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Mgbakwu, described the free basic education policy of the current administration in the State as phenomenal, noting that it has boosted the state education sector and increased school attendance by students and pupils.
