* Oraifite Women in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State under the aegis of Oraifite Women Based in Awka have condemned the burning to death of a woman, Mrs Blessing Nwanna by her husband, over allegation of infidelity.

Spokesperson of Oraifite Women Based in Anambra, Dr Helen Obi, who is also a
senior lecturer in the Faculty of Law, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in a press briefing said the women plan to visit the commissioner for women’s affairs to ensure that the matter is not swept under the carpet.

Obi said the deceased who is a mother of six hails from Oraifite and was married to her husband, Sunday Nwaka, a native of Abagana, where they both lived until Tuesday evening when the man poured fuel on her and set her ablaze after a heated argument,leading to her death.

* Anambra Government has warned communities in land dispute against taking laws into their hands, stating that
any form of violence that may lead to loss of life will not be tolerated.

The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim gave the warning at the Government House Awka,
during a meeting with stakeholders of Omor and Anaku communities over land dispute.

Dr. Ibezim who is the Chairman of Anambra State Boundary Committee, while speaking, made it clear that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is committed towards instituting lasting peace and harmony amongst communities across the state where there is crisis.

The Deputy Governor urged Omor and Anaku communities to give peace a chance and learn to tolerate each other as brothers that they are. He assured that the state government through the boundary committee will immediately wade into the matter to avoid escalation, even as he order both communities to seize every activity on the said land.

* Officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) have visited the site of a collapsed three-story building under construction near Diamond Pizza, opposite Five Star Restaurant, along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in Awka, Anambra State.

The building, which was at the roofing level, collapsed at approximately 5:25 PM on Wednesday.

According to an eyewitness, Mr. Daniel, a resident in the area, he heard a series of thunderous sounds and rushed out to investigate, only to witness the building crumbling to the ground.

Rescue operations are currently ongoing, casualties already pulled from the rubble.
Passersby and commuters also joined in the efforts to assist those injured.

The agency has immediately constituted a panel of inquiry to determine the remote and immediate cause of the collapse.

* The Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in Anaocha Local Government Area, Sir Anthony Ugorji has called on Ndi Anambra to keep supporting the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in view of his excellent performance in various sectors of the economy, including human infrastructure.

Speaking to newsmen in his Nri Country home, Sir Ugorji noted that what Governor Soludo has done in less than three years in office is unprecedented in the history of the state and urged APGA faithful to work towards re-electing Professor Soludo in the November eighth election.

Ugorji cautioned politicians against heating up the polity with unfounded and unnecessary propaganda and urging residents of Anambra to continue to support the current Anambra State Government.

* A team from the Anambra State Hospital Management Board, led by Dr. Frank Ifeanaeme, State Hospital Administrator, has paid a courtesy call to the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Blessing Ekene Iruma, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp in Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South LGA, today.

The meeting provided a platform for the two agencies to discuss areas of mutual benefit, fostering a collaborative relationship between the hospital management board and the NYSC.

In attendance were other key officials, including Camp Director Mr. Augustine McNorris Ogiator, Head of Publicity Mr. Felix N. Obiekwe, Mr. Victor Ngaji, Hospital Board’s Human Resources Desk Officer, Mrs. Ego Ebele, Hospital Board’s PRO, and Mr. Chukwudi Onwujekwe, PA to the Hospital Board Administrator.

* An Nnokwa indigene, Mrs Janefrances Mbadugha is seeking financial support  for treatment of  kidney failure.

Aged forty, Mrs Mbadugha has been hospitalized and receiving dialysis but  her situation is deteriorating to the extent that only kidney transplant will save her life.

The hospital has billed twenty million naira for the kidney transplant. She is appealing to the public, organizations, spirited individuals and government at all levels to come to her aid.

* As Anambra government declares unending war against kidnappers, cultists, drug peddlers, drug addicts, fake native doctors and other daredevils terrorizing the citizenry following the launch of Operation Udo Ga Achi security framework and Agunechemba respectively, the State Chief of Protocols and Deputy Chief of Staff Chief Chinedu Nwoye Glamour has stated unequivocally that criminals can not stop Anambra State from growing and developing in all spheres of her corporate existence.

Glamour who spoke to newsmen said Governor Chukwuma Soludo has reaffirmed his commitment towards the protection of lives and property in the state with the introduction of a multi-faceted comprehensive technologically based security approach to addressing security lapses in the state.

He explained that Operation Udo Ga Achi is about the communities taking ownership of the security situation in their respective domains as the governor has distributed about 200 smart security vehicles, trained and deployed about 2000 security personnel to communities and equally assured the people that Anambra will win the war against those who have set up criminal enterprise in the forests and bushes.

* The member representing Anambra East Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Obi Nweke has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for signing into law Anambra Homeland Security, as well as the launching of Operation Udo Ga Achi in the State.

Speaking to newsmen in Awka, Nweke noted that Governor Soludo is both innovative and strategic in the execution of policies and programmes of his administration, adding that the State Homeland Security bill will give necessary backing to Operation Udo Ga Achi for it to function effectively and optimally, and also within the ambits of the law.

The Anambra State Lawmaker who is the House Committee Chairman on Public Petitions, expressed optimism that insecurity will now be a thing of the past, calling on ndi Anambra to join hands with the State Government to rid the State of all forms of social vices, as security is a collective responsibility.

* Traditional religionists in Anambra State have staged a protest and petitioned Governor Chukwuma Soludo over his recent pronouncement aimed at checkmating practitioners of African Traditional Religion (ATR).

The protesters expressed deep concerns that the governor’s statement targets ATR practitioners unfairly, violating their constitutional rights and Nigeria’s secular nature.

The petition, signed by Agbogidi Okafor Ezeani Chikwe of Onuigbo Onyenachiya Center For African Spirituality, highlighted that Nigeria is a secular state, as explicitly declared by the Constitution.

* The Ocha Brigade has led a large-scale cleanup exercise in Onitsha, reaffirming their commitment to making Anambra State the cleanest and healthiest place to live.

Key areas such as Ochanja, Main Market, Ibrufish, and Head Bridge were thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, showcasing the brigade’s unwavering dedication to maintaining public health and environmental sustainability.

Residents were full of praise for the Ocha Brigade’s efforts, calling them the “light of Ndi Anambra” for their tireless work in creating a healthier and more livable state.

During the exercise, the Ocha Brigade emphasized the critical role of cleanliness in fostering good health and community well-being.
