* The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has dismissed the strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and all other opposition political parties to wrest power from Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

It described these parties as “literally suffering various terminal illnesses and hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), battling for their lives.”

The National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, in a statement made available to journalists said only APGA would be going into the election in a stable condition.

* The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command, Comdt. Maku Olatunde has reiterated the commitment of the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi to the well – being of officers and men.

Maku stated this on while distributing uniforms, kits and accoutrements to quarter guard personnel, guarter guard Instructors and Band Squad of the command during his weekly tactical digest at the State Command Headquarters Awka.

According to the Commandant, the issuance of new uniforms to deserving personnel is a continuation of the Commandant General’s ongoing efforts to drive reforms and recognize hard work within the Corps.

* Combined security forces have successfully raided a kidnapper’s hideout in Enugwu Agidi, Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State,
leading to the arrest of a key suspect and recovery of a substantial cache of weapons.

The operation, was conducted on Thursday, January 30, 2025 by joint troops of the newly launched ‘Udo Ga Chi’ and ‘Agunechemba’ security initiatives.

Acting on credible intelligence, the forces apprehended Mr. Chukwudi Tansi, identified as a member of a suspected kidnapping syndicate.

The raid resulted in the recovery of an impressive arsenal including two AK-47 rifles, eight pump action guns, and four locally made pistols.

Other items seized included three packets of cartridges containing 101 rounds, four empty AK-47 magazines, three cutlasses, a Baofeng radio, a motorcycle, and various charms.

* Anambra cleric and Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma (popularly known as Ebube Muonso), has warned all the kidnappers and criminal elements in Anambra State to repent, surrender, or flee from the state to avoid incurring the wrath of God.

The charismatic priest recounted how he appealed to the kidnappers to release the priest, as he is a messenger and servant of God, which they declined to do and even threatened to come after him later.

He also used the medium to issue stern warning to all kidnappers and other criminal elements operating anywhere in Anambra state to repent, surrender or leave the state entirely to avoid incurring divine wrath, emphasizing that it is no longer business as usual.

* The Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi has flagged-off the construction of 400 metres of Michael Okigbo road, Ojoto in Idemili South local government, Anambra State.

Speaking during the flag-off, the Mayor commended Dr. Okigbo for embracing public private community partnership. She described rural access roads as significant, important and economically of great benefits to not just the people of the benefitting communities but the entirety of potential beneficiaries of its social and agricultural impact.

Hon. Obi stated that the road when completed would birth a drastic improvement in the livelihood of the communities where the road is passing through

* Professional Civil Engineers under the aegis of Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE), has warned Anambra residents against patronizing quack engineers in the execution of engineering projects in the state.

The body lay down the warning during it one day awareness campaign tagged: walk against building and Infrastructure collapse, held in Awka.

The road walk was accompanied with placards with various inscription such as “Say no to quackery, avoid weak structure, choose quality, prevent collapse, choose engineers, patronized engineers, stop building collapse now, among others.

Speaking further in an interview with journalists shortly after the campaign, the Awka branch Chairman of Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE), Engr. Alex Ifeagwazi, said the Walk was to educate the public on the importance of
hiring the services of professional engineers to avoid building and other infrastructural collapsed in the state.

* A newly-employed worker in a popular hotel in Awka, the capital city of Anambra state has allegedly fled with a whopping sum of money, amounting to about two hundred thousand naira (N200,000) of her employer after her first day at work.

The Manager of the hotel, who simply identified himself as Ephraim, disclosed this in a social media post.

According to him, the lady, who hails from Ebenebe in Awka North Local Government Area of the state, introduced herself as Chinaza, but was identified as Mary Cynthia by Truecaller.

* A member of a notorious gang has been apprehended by the operatives of the newly-launched security outfit in Anambra State, Agụnechemba (popularly known as Operation Udo Ga-Achi).

The suspect, identified as Ekene Onyemekariri, who hails from Umunze in Orumba South Local Government Area of the state, was apprehended in one of the recent operations of the security squad.

This was corroborated by a video that has gone viral on social media, showing the suspect being interrogated by the security operatives that arrested him.

* A bereaved family of another victim of insecurity has announced the burial arrangements of their daughter, who was also killed by yet-to-be-identified hoodlums in the state.

This is coming as the Onyekwelu family of Amorji Village in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, officially released announced the burial poster of their daughter, Ifeoma Onyekwelu, a banker who was gruesomely murdered by suspected kidnappers despite a ransom payment.

Ms. Onyekwelu, a staff member of Polaris Bank, was kidnapped on December 13, 2024, in the Onitsha area of Anambra State and held in captivity for days. Her abductors later contacted her family, demanding a ransom.
