# The People of Achalla community in Awka North LGA of Anambra state have elected Chief Charles Okadigbo as the new President General of the town.

Ndi Achalla came out in their numbers thronged to Udoka primary school, Eke venue of the exercise which was fixed by the Anambra state government through an official letter from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

The Chairman of the electoral committee, Chief Pat Anago who said they relied on and used the 1986 constitution of Achalla community, declared that Chief Charles Okadigbo scored a total of Nine Hundred and Twenty Three votes and has been elected President General of Achalla Improvement Union.

In an interview, the new President General of Achalla Improvement Union, Chief Charles Okadigbo thanked the people for having faith in his capacity to lead them and promised to reconcile all camps and attract more development to the Awka North Local Government Area capital.

# The Chairman of Idemili South LGA, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi has commissioned a potable borehole water project at Iruowelle village, Awka-Etiti.

Speaking during the event, Dr. Obi said, the solar-powered borehole water, was the idea of the past Iruowelle Chairman, Chief Nwokeike.

The Mayor applauded him for his selfless service to the people and humanity at large, adding that he has done a lot not only for the people in the village but also for the community.

The local government boss maintained that the project is in line with the commitment of her administration to the provision of essential infrastructure and improvement of living standards at the grassroots.

# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has urged Nigerians to see this year as a new opportunity to redefine their collective bond as a Nation and view the challenges of the past years as great lessons to attain greatness by approaching the new year with positive mindset and hope.

In his New Year Message, Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that Nigeria has witnessed heightened activities in social, economic and political lives of the people, evident in severe economic hardship and insecurity which confronted the masses in many ways, while encouraging Nigerians to be steadfast, prayerful and law-abiding and believe that the year, 2026 will be a turning point and eventful for them in all ramifications.

The Anambra State Number One Lawmaker, who reassured Ndi Anambra that the State Legislature will embrace her legislative activities this year with renewed vigour to ensure that meaningful development and overall good governance continue to thrive in the State, expressed satisfaction that the 8th State Assembly has continued to take a lead in legislative business among other law making bodies in the country in terms of enactment of quality laws and resolutions.

Udeze extolled Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s exploits in all sectors such as the improved education system with the establishment of free education, healthcare delivery, security architecture, massive road infrastructure, youth empowerment among other landmark achievements and called on Ndi Anambra to intensify their support to the present administration this year, to enable Governor Soludo to further his transformation agenda in the State.

# Onwa Dezemba Novelty Match, organized by the Anambra State government, ended at Awka City Stadium. Governor Soludo, accompanied by his wife, Geputy Governor, and other top government functionaries, did the kick-off.

The game ended goal less in full time, as
Ex-Rangers won 5-4 on Penalties.

Anambra State Football Association Chairman, General Chikelue Iloenyosi chaired the committee, described the game as a reunion.

# The senator Representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Dr. Tony Nwoye has congratulated the Igwe of Ifite-Ogwari, Igwe Dr A.I Ofuebe, on the occasion of His 2025 Ofala festival and 25 years on the Throne.

Senator Tony Nwoye who graced the occasion, described the age-long historic celebration as a platform for the sustenance of peace and unity in Ifite-Ogwari, Omanbala Region and Anambra state in general.

Nwoye also extended his greetings to the people of Ifite-ogwari and stressed that the Igwe Ofuebe remains a rallying point for sons and daughters of Ifite-Ogwari.

While pointing out that the festival is symbolic, noted that the cultural heritage of the people of Ifite-ogwari is remarkable, historic and commendable.

Highlights of the event were the conferment of Chieftaincy Titles to Great Sons and Daughters of ifite-ogwari and friends of the Community included Sir Dr Iyke Oliobi, who was conferred with Ikemba Gburugburu of Ifite-Ogwari and many others.

# Ndiokpaleke Community in Orumba North LGA has presented the prestigious Impactful Leadership Award to Chief Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo, Chairman/CEO of Seahorse Oil Lubricants, in a grand ceremony.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Ebuka Onunkwo expressed his gratitude for the gratitude.

The President General of Ndiokpaleke, Engr Arinze Orji, lauded Chief Onunkwo’s philanthropic endeavors and encouraged him to continue his political aspirations, acknowledging his impactful contributions to the community and Anambra at large.

# The Mayor of Anaocha LGA, Hon. Rome Ibekwe, led the Anaocha LGA leadership to the Ofala Festival of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Christopher Okpala (Ezennebo III of Akwaeze).

During the vibrant cultural ceremony, Hon. Ibekwe commended Igwe Akwaeze for his steadfast commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Anaocha as the Chairman Anaocha Traditional Rulers Council.

The Mayor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to sustained development across Akwaeze and the entire Anaocha LGA.

In response, HRM Igwe Christopher Okpala expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Ibekwe for his relentless efforts in advancing the development of Anaocha. The monarch pledged the full cooperation of the Akwaeze community throughout the Mayor’s tenure.

The event highlighted the strong synergy between traditional institutions and local government in fostering unity and progress in Anaocha.

# The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu graced the 2025 Uli Day Celebration, the annual cultural and unity festival of the sons and daughters of Uli Ancient Kingdom.

The event, organised by the Uli Progressive Union (UPU), brought together ndi Uli at home and in the diaspora for reflection, interaction, and renewed commitment to the growth and development of the community.

The celebration featured captivating cultural displays that vividly showcased the rich heritage and identity of ndi Uli, while fostering meaningful interactions between community members and their leaders, further strengthening unity, mutual understanding, and collective responsibility.

In his remarks, Senator Emmanuel Nwachukwu commended ndi Uli for sustaining the Uli Day Celebration as a vital platform for unity, self-assessment, and progress. He described Uli Day as an important annual moment for the people to reflect on their past, evaluate the present, and collectively chart a realistic and sustainable path for the future through dialogue, encouragement, and shared sacrifice.
