* Obinikpa Football Club has emerged victoriously against Ajango FC at the Amaokpala Community Football Tournament for the 2023/2024 season and won a cash prize of 500,000 naira. The tournament played at Holy Ghost Academy Pitch, Amaokpala in Orumba North Local Government Area, was organized by Amaokpala Development Union, Diaspora Branch.
* Anambra Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Anthony Ifeanya has charged the state workforce to assist Governor Chukwuma Soludo in his drive to achieve his mission and vision for the state by being productive and content creators. Angel Network News reports that the Commissioner gave the charge while briefing the staff of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources on the ministry’s breakthroughs in 2023 as he unveiled 2024 set targets.
* The Traditional ruler of Omasi community in Ayamelum local government, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Okeji has conferred the chieftaincy title of “Igiligi Omasi” to Anambra State Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Sir Ifeatu Obi-Okoye for his outstanding performance. Speaking during the conferment, Igwe Omasi said that the council singled him out because of his sincerity of purpose and unprecedented achievements, noting that honouring Chief Obi-Okoye would make other political office holders to know that their track records are being documented.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Local Government Area, Hon. ThankGod Anago has urged the new President General of Mgbakwu Town Union, Mr. Chukwu-Basil Nwokeoma and his executive to use their new positions to foster peace, unity and progress in the community. Angel Network News reports that Anago while speaking to newsmen shortly after the Mgbakwu Town Union election which was held recently, urged Mr. Nwokeoma to see his victory as an avenue to unite Ndi Mgbakwu at home and in the diaspora.
* The Ministry of Information Anambra State has started the 2024 work-year with a special mass and prayer sessions. Angel Network News reports that the mass was held in the office of the Information commissioner in Awka, the state capital. In his sermon, Fr. Chigozie Jidere of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ngozika Estate, Awka prayed for God’s guidance and direction on the workers. The Commissioner, Sir Paul Nwosu, while giving thanks to God for the new year described it as a year of promise and abundant favour from God.
* The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike has paid an unscheduled visit to Ogidi General Hospital in Idemili North Local Government Area and Enugwu-Ukwu General hospital in Njikoka Local Government Area. Dr. Obidike while speaking said the visits offered him the opportunity to ascertain the commitment of health workers in the two secondary medical facilities especially during this festive period.
* The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has reassured his constituents that he would not relent in putting in efforts that would not only support the sports sector but would also encourage the youth and various communities to always organize sports events in their various localities. Ubah made the remarks during the final match of the 2023/2024 Umuanuka Otolo Unity Cup Tournament held at the field of St Peter’s Catholic Church, located in his community, Umuanuka Otolo Nnewi.
* The second Ife Awkuzu Annual Summit have ended with a call on every member of society to become part of the development process as governments cannot do everything alone.
Anambra State Commissioner For Lands, Professor Offornze Amucheazi made the call at Awkuzu Civic Center, Oyi Council Area during the 2nd Ife Awkuzu Annual Summit organised by Ifee Awkuzu Development Association. Ife Awkuzu Development Association focuses on identifying and promoting positive values among young people and encouraging them to become change agents in their communities and the nation.
* Igwebuike Anam Age Grade, one of the numerous age grades that makes up Anam clan has commissioned 128 high capacity solar street lights donated to the eight communities of the clan. Angel Network News reports that the commissioning which was done during their Annual General Meeting which was equally an avenue for them to present meritorious service awards to some of their members who have done exceptionally well in serving the interest of the age grade and Ndi Anam in general.
* Chief Johnpaul Ezenwaka has been elected the new President General of Aguluezechukwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. Chief Ezenwaka polled a total of 513 votes. The election conducted by Mr. Ethelberth Obi chosen by the community as the Returning officer for the election also saw the election of Mr. Uche Chiadi as the First Vice President after polling 640 votes and Mr. Ejike Okoye emerged Second Vice President with 540 votes.
