* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus C. Ezeokafor, has lamented the high level of hunger and rising insecurity in the country, attributing it to hunger and poverty.
According to the Bishop, who spoke in Awka, the inability of the government to provide basic necessities of life such as food had led to a situation where people had become desperate and willing to engage in any activity to survive.
He regretted that the current economic situation in the country had made it difficult for people to afford basic necessities, including food.
* Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has congratulated his counterpart, Governor Peter Mba of Enugu State on his developmental strides, revealing that they are in tandem with similar positive developments being implemented in Anambra State also.
In his congratulatory message signed by Mr. Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to the Governor, Soludo stated the Mba has transformed Enugu in less than two years in office.
As President Tinubu commissions projects in neighbouring Enugu State, political observers suggest that Soludo’s balanced approach, embracing federal presence and supporting projects by fellow Southeast governors could serve as a boost for Southeast regional cooperation in navigating federal-state relations effectively beyond party politics and partisan affiliations.
* The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State, Maku Olatunde, says the Corps will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to promote peace and security in the state.
The Commandant Maku said this on Friday while on a supervisory visit to Area E-Command Headquarters Nnewi, as part of his ongoing efforts to engage with officers, men, and key stakeholders at the grassroots level to explore potential collaboration opportunities.
The State Commandant, accompanied by Deputy Commandant of Corps; Prominence Ukaobi, the command 2ic, and other senior officers, charged officers and men in Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Ekwusigo, and Ihiala Divisional office respectfully to intensify their efforts in protecting critical national, state, and local government assets, while adhering to the rule of law and standard operating procedures.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has expressed a warm welcome to President Ahmed Tinubu, on his visit to the Southeast region, saluting his liberal leadership style.
The President was in Enugu State to commission developmental projects completed under Governor Peter Mbah’s administration.
The visit of Tinubu to the Southeast for project commissioning demonstrates the federal government’s attention to our region’s development.
* An activist and National convener of the Recover Nigeria Project (RNP), Comrade Osita obi, has threatened to stormed the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry Uke, Anambra state in protest, if the Spiritual Director of the Ministry, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma (Ebube muonso), failed to apologize to Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, within a period of 14-days.
The ultimatum was as a result of the ongoing media war between the Minister of God and the governor over the worsen insecurity in the state.
Rev. Fr. Obimma, during his New message called on the governor to address the security condition or resign for someone else to address it.
Comrade Obi, in his further reaction while addressing a press conference in Awka, on Saturday, over what he described as unfortunate development, urged Fr Obimma to support the governor to fight the ugly trend instead of attacking him.
* Two Nnewi indigene and governorship aspirants of the Labour Party (LP) for the Anambra State 2025 election, George Moghalu and John Nwosu, may likely meet to harmonise their interests before the primary election.
Moghalu, the immediate past Managing Director of Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), disclosed this at a press conference in his house.
Moghalu described Nwosu as his brother and in-law, saying the possibility of them meeting to harmonise interest to avoid waste of resources and also ensure the protection of Nnewi interest was inevitable.
* A Non Governmental (NGO), Chibuzor Njideofor Foundation (CNF) in Nnewi, Anambra State has moved to change the lives of youth through sports.
The foundation celebrated talented footballers, referees, coaches and clubs over their excellent performances at 2024 edition of Nnewi Unity Cup sponsored by the founder, Dr Chibuzor Njideofor.
In his remark, Dr. Njideofor said he was interested in soccer because he has been a coach for three consecutive seasons at Nnewi and won titles, and would therefore continue investing into it having also a football academy in conjunction with Fidelis Ilechukwu, Coach of Rangers International, Enugu.
* A community leader and Vice Chairman of Obunagu Achalla village inEnugu Agidi community in Njikoka local government area of Anambra state, Ozo Ozoemena Obiora Okeke has narrated a frightening plot allegedly by some of his kinsmen to kill him.
Okeke disclosed that at the center of the grouse of those after his life remains his dogged fight to prevent them from illegal and corrupt sales of large acres of land belonging to the four villages that make up Enugwu Agidi town.
Speaking with newsmen at his country home, Okeke, revealed startling incidents that led to his kidnap twice between last year 2023 and 2024, saying that it was God who saved his life, apart from payment of ransom to suspected Fulani herders.
* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor, has commissioned a water borehole at CAPAD Filling Station, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State.
Commissioning the water facility built to enable the filling station to serve its teaming customers optimally, the Catholic Bishop said the Church was in the oil business purely to serve humanity.
The Bishop assured the customers of the station that as a Church, the issues of tampering with meters and selling with an intent to cheat them would not be tolerated.
* The All Soludo Support Groups (ASSG), led by Sir Chinedu Nwoye (Glamour), has unanimously endorsed Chief Dr. Jude Emecheta to represent Anambra South Senatorial District in the Senate, following the demise of late Chief Ifeanyi Ubah.
The endorsement was made during a crucial meeting of ASSG representatives, where they expressed unwavering support for Dr. Emecheta’s senatorial ambition.
Emecheta reaffirmed his loyalty to APGA leader and Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, and pledged to collaborate closely with the Governor to advance the party’s vision.
