# The Mayor of Idemili South LGA, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi, has congratulated the National Chairman of APGA on the conferment of chieftaincy title as the “Otulugo Aguleri” by the traditional ruler of Aguleri kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Dr. Michael Idigo.
Hon. Obi in the same vein felicitated with Igwe Dr. Michael Idigo on Ovala festival, described the festival as very important in preserving our culture and traditions.
The Council boss said Ezeokenwa has shown himself overtime as a man of the people, stating that she was not surprised that Aguleri has found him to be the Otulugo of the kingdom.
While saying that the title was affirmation of Ezeokenwa’s responsible leadership, she prayed for more strength upon him as he continues his selfless service to the people and humanity in general.
# It was a sigh of relief for many and jubilation across Uke Community in Idemili North LGA as Prof Chiemelu Emegoakor and Dr Emma Nwokedi sponsored a multi million naira free Medical Outreach where many less privileged persons who could not access proper medical treatment due to paucity of funds were major beneficiaries.
Speaking during the free medical outreach at the Primary Healthcare Center Uke, Prof Chiemelu Emegoakor from Omimi village Uke said that the free surgery and free medical outreach was something he had been doing for the last four years with his colleague and brother Dr. Emma Nwokedi who is also a native of Uke community.
Prof. Emegoakor further advised that
people should be health conscious and learn good health behaviors particularly once they get up to 40 years.
# Idemili-South council headquarters’ playground was cultural performances as communities showcased that which makes Idemili-South uniquely different from other local government areas in Anambra State.
The maiden Idemili-South cultural festival which was also a rain of encomiums and endorsement of the council chairman Dr. Mrs. Amaka Obi for another term in office following a consensus opinion that she has taken Idemili-South Local Government Area to greater heights, was equally an occasion for the Mayor to begin the new year with campaign on promotion of Igbo language and culture through the maiden cultural carnival.
The groundbreaking event which had in attendance the traditional ruler of Nnobi community His Royal Highness Igwe Engr. Nick Obi, who also doubled as the royal father of the day, chairman of the occasion High Chief Hamilton Emeka Ezeonu (Ikemba Idemili) and his wife Lolo Thelma Ezeonu, the Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment comrade Don Onyenji, pioneer chairman of Idemili-South Local Government Area Chief Abasili and a host of other heavyweight stakeholders of Idemili-South added glitz and glamour to the cultural displays.
# Idemili South Mayor Hon. Amaka Obi has unveiled cultural carnival at the council secretariat, Ojoto.
Speaking, Hon. Obi said, the event is designed to revive the area’s rich cultural heritage and stimulate economic activity across the communities.
On his part, the Chairman of the occasion, High Chief Emeka Ezeonu appreciated Hon. Obi and all the members of the committee for organising a wonderful carnival, stating that he will continue to support the event.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to major stakeholders and presentation of gifts to winners of each category.
# The Ichie Akubudike Foundation, under the leadership and chairmanship of its Founder, High Chief Martin Nwabueze,
distributed palliatives to over 3,000 beneficiaries.
The items shared included 10kg of rice, 10kg of beans, 2 liters of groundnut oil, and cash gifts, bringing joy, relief, and renewed hope to countless households during the festive season.
Speaking during the second batch of the New Year palliative distribution, Chief Collins Nnama Nwabueze, son of High Chief Martin Nwabueze, described the initiative as a true reflection of love, unity, and shared responsibility. He emphasized that compassion must move beyond words and be demonstrated through practical, meaningful actions that touch lives.
# Chief Primus Odili has graced the Nando United Brothers Association (NUBA) party, bringing smiles to the faces of the esteemed members.
NUBA, a group of successful Nando billionaires, has been working tirelessly to bring development to their hometown, Nando.
In his speech, Chief Odili praised NUBA for their selfless efforts in driving progress in Nando. ‘I applaud you for what you’ve been doing for your town for years,’ he said, acknowledging their contributions to the community’s growth.
Odili encouraged NUBA members to keep up the good work, emphasizing the importance of community development. He also commended the leadership of NUBA for their exemplary leadership and promised to continue supporting their initiatives.
# All Progressives Grand Alliance stakeholder, Chief Dozie Nwankwo has appealed to the people of Anambra Central Senatorial District to come out in large number and work democratically and sincerely toward returning APGA to the hallowed red chamber of the Nigeria National Assembly (The Senate) come 2027 National Assembly Election.
Hon. Nwankwo who representated Dunukofia/Njikoka/Anaocha Federal Constituency, made the appeal at Akwaeze Kingdom in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, as part of his new year 2026 message.
Speaking to journalists at Akwaeze town during the birthday celebration of Nze Pa Edwin Obi Igwegbe and Lolo Florence Obi Igwegbe who clocked 100 years, and 80 years respectively, Nwankwo said “I am appealing to the good people of Anambra Central to return APGA to The Senate in 2027.
# The two-time Chairman of Orumba South LGA, Hon. Cyprian Okereke, has been honoured with a prestigious chieftaincy title, “Ogbuehituruagwa 1 of Ihite.”
The title was conferred on Okereke by the traditional ruler of Ihite Community, Igwe Sir Timothy Okwudirichukwu Ifurunwa (Ogbuodudu 1 of Ihite), Ofala Festival.
While presenting the title, the Igwe described Hon. Cyprian Okereke as a distinguished and worthy son of Ihite who has served the people diligently in various capacities, especially during his time as Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area. He praised his contributions to community development and urged him to continue with his good works.
Responding after receiving the honour, Hon. Cyprian Okereke expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Igwe and the entire people of Ihite for finding him worthy of the title. He described the Igwe as a leader with great vision and commitment to the progress of the community.
