*Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR says those who have something to offer should offer it through public service, stating that public service is the biggest philanthropy. Soludo stated this when the Presidential Candidate of the New National People’s Party, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso who paid him courtesy visit at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia 

* Police in Anambra State have arrested a six man robbery gang, which specializes in robing people around Ogidi area in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

The state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga who revealed the arrest of the gang said the arrested members have confessed to their culpability in several operations. He said: “All the suspects confessed to the crime and they are helping police operatives with more information which serves as a guide to arrest other gang members and recovery of other stolen items.”

* The lawmaker representing Awka South constituency 2 in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye  joined the people of Namkpu village, Mbaukwu in marking their annual Ezinwafor day. Speaking during the occasion,  Hon. Okoye stressed the need to strengthen the igbo traditional institutions and encourage the inculcation of ideal cultural values on the younger generation. He further used the opportunity to array his achievements since assuming Office in 2019 and urged the support of Mbaukwu and the entire Obizi community towards his second term bid. 

* Home Sample Football Club has won the 2022 Urum football tournament organized by the Urum Development Union, UDU, in collaboration with Urum Anike Youth Council Worldwide. Home Sample FC won the opponent, Urum Development Union Awka Branch FC, in the grand finale of the tournament through a penalty shootout which ended 3:2 after playing 1:1 in full regulation time. The Urum 2022 Football tournament which took place at Community Primary School field, Urum, Awka North Local Government Area, featured total of four football clubs which include Home Sample FC, Urum Development Union Awka Brach FC, Jamaican FC and Future Hope FC.

* Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige has described the presidential  candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi as his brother, saying he (Ngige) knows his capacity of leadership.Ngige stated this on Tuesday, at his hometown, Alor, Idemili South local government area, Anambra State, during the annual distribution of Christmas largesse by his Chris Ngige Foundation to APC members, the indigent, widows and aged persons.

* The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) Mr. Ossy Onuko has called on Ndi Anambra to keep supporting the Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration in its effort to make the state a secure and livable homeland. Mr. Onuko who stated this while speaking to newsmen in Awka over the recent killings in some places in the state, including Awka noted that Governor Soludo is determined to rip the state of all agents of darkness and their cohorts wherever they are.

 

*The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Awka North and South Federal Constituency in next month’s general elections, Hon. Obi Nwankwo, has urged people of the constituency who registered in the continuous voter registration exercise and yet to collect their cards, to do so as deadline for collection nears. Nwankwo who stated this in Awka, observed that with with deadline issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the collection of PVCs across the country fast approaching, eligible voters in Awka North and South who are yet to collect theirs should do so quickly in order not to miss out on the forthcoming polls.

* The operatives of Anambra State Police Command have arrested one Francis Obiano (28) and a few others for armed robbery attacks and car snatchings from unsuspecting law-abiding citizens.

* The Candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial race and House of Rep Member, representing Dunukofia, Njikoka, Anaocha Federal Constituency, Hon. Dozie Nwankwo, Onyendozi, has in a public statement condemned the senseless murder of Engr. Iyke Okolo, President General of Obosi Development Union (O.D.U). Onyendozi who condemned the heinous act  through his Media office, expressed grief and sadness over the unwarranted, senseless and indiscriminate killings in Anambra State, and recently the snuffing of life from Engr. Okolo.

* The House of Representatives ambition of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) standard bearer, Barr Johnmary Akachukwu Maduakolam received a boost as stakeholders in Ihiala federal constituency resolved to send the UK trained lawyer to the green chamber of the National Assembly.

Speaking at the annual old boys association meeting of St. Jude Secondary School, Ihiala; Hon Barr B C Ottih revealed the position of the stakesholders. Hon Barr Otti pointed out that the only candidate visible in the constituency is the YPP candidate who has been telling the people his program and agenda for the constituents.

* The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has kicked off its operation for the year 2023 on a positive note as it takes mobile MAP metering to its customers in Anambra State, ensuring that they are able to access prepaid meters within 48 hours. The exercise, which allows customers to pay and get metered, and reimbursed with the value of the cost of meter through energy over a period, is a conscious way the company has adopted to close the existing metering gap in its network.

*PPRO Anambra state DSP Tochukwu Ikenga said investigation revealed that the man (Mr. Udoka Eze) aged 50, whose body was dumped in his red Toyota Camry car apparently by his killers, reportedly returned for Christmas. Late Udoka Eze hails from Iyiafor Village, Owerezukala. He was confirmed dead by a doctor when taken to the hospital and the body has been deposited in the morgue and investigation has since commence. 

* Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR has commissioned an auditorium renovated by the alumni association of Boys Secondary School, Igboukwu. Soludo in his speech at the event which also featured commissioning of a water facility stated that advanced Public Community Private Partnership is the way forward for development and that the resources available to government cannot do development work alone.

* The Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) has declared that it will do everything possible to fish out Killers of the President-General of Obosi community in Idemili-North local government area of Anambra state. National president of ASATU in a condolence message made available to our correspondent, said ASATU expressed rude shock over the murder and sudden death of their member, who was allegedly shot dead by rival cult members at a petrol station in the state.
