* An illustrious son of Ojoto, Chief Chukwudi Maduabum through his foundation, More Blessings Foundation, has empowered members of the community with different materials to become self reliant.

Some of the items include grinding, sewing, and garri processing machines, cheques, wrappers, bags of rice, tubers of yam, and two live cows

The event held in his country home in Umuezeani, Umuezema village Ojoto in Idemili South Council Area commenced with a holy mass.

The Host, Chief Maduabum, and his wife, Jane, said that the gesture was inspired by the spirit of God and has been in existence for over 25 years ago, promising to sustain the programme.

* Women Academic Doctors of Adazi-Nnukwu Community Foundation in Anaocha local government area have been inaugurated.

The foundation was inaugurated by the Chairman on the occasion, Professor Ken Nwogu at Adazi-Nnukwu town hall where he described it as a very good innovation aimed at mentoring young girls into future leadership.

He advised the young girls among them to aspire to be fit and worthy in learning and character in order to perform their fundamental role as the bedrock of the society.

In her address, the Founder of the foundation, Dr. Scholastica Iloghalu explained that WADAN is dedicated to empowering young girls in Adazi-Nnukwu through mentorship, education, and community engagement, with emphasis on fostering character, leadership, and social responsibility.

* Idemili South Council Mayor, Hon. Amaka Obi has appreciated the people of Ebenesi In diaspora for donating hospital equipments to Ebenesi Health Centre In Nnobi community.

Anambra Commissioner For Health, Dr. Afam Obidike and Idemili South Council Mayor, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi.

Hon. Obi while speaking at the event, thanked them for giving back to the community, stating that the group have embraced Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP).

Soludo in the state especially in health sector, noted that the Governor has renovated and upgraded all the health centres in the state and Ebenesi health centre wears a new look because of Solution government.

* Anambra Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, on Monday January 6th 2025, highlighted some of the notable breakthroughs recorded by the Command from January 2024 – to date.

CP Itam while briefing Journalists stated that these feats include incidents of armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, child trafficking, public disturbances, attacks on unsuspecting members of the public, security personnel, government infrastructures and other sundry offences.

“Efforts at reducing crime and criminality are yielding positive results and you will agree with me that we are changing the narrative”. The CP said

* Abagana Youth Association Lagos (AYAL) has marked the silver jubilee of Abagana Unity Cup Championship with a grand celebration at Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The event also featured the recognition of notable individuals for their exceptional contributions to the growth and sustainability of the tournament since its inception.

The Unity Cup Championship, founded in the year 2000 by Chief Denis Amobi, was created to foster unity among the youths of the community which now stands as a testament to the power of sports in bridging divides and nurturing lasting bonds of friendship, brotherhood, and mutual respect.

Speaking at the event, Chief Amobi, who was honored as the Grand Sponsor, expressed his unwavering commitment to the championship and noted that his passion for sports, particularly football, motivated him to sponsor the event annually.

* Contrary to reports that three children from the same parents were slaughtered by unknown killers, fresh facts emerged, revealing that they died of suffocation inside their father’s car, which was parked in their compound.

It has also been discovered that there were no marks on their bodies to suggest they were killed with any weapon, and they were not tied with ropes.

According to the President General of Nise Community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Anthony Nwabuona:

“We received a distress call from the head of our local vigilante group about the death of the children. We rushed to the compound and found the children lifeless. It was confirmed that they had entered their father’s car and were playing inside. They inadvertently locked the car and couldn’t open it.”

* Faithfulness and passion are critical criteria needed for a successful ministry in God’s vineyard. This formed the major highpoint of the homily delivered by Rev. Fr. Patrick Okafor at St Andrew’s Catholic Church, Adazi -Nnukwu, Anaocha Council Area during a pontifical high mass celebrated to mark the 25th priestly anniversary of Rev. Fr. Livinus Obianisi.

The mass was presided over by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, Most Reverend Jonas-Benson Okoye, and assisted by the Bishops of Ekwulobia Diocese, Peter Cardinal Okpalaeke and Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor and other priests.

For the celebrant, Rev. Fr Obianisi, the journey of priesthood is not an easy task but said he is strengthened by persistent prayers and faith in God.

* Student’s Union branch has emerged the winner of the 2024/25 edition of the Nanka Champions League after defeating Bayelsa branch by a lone goal in the grand finale played at the Neros Stadium Nanka, Anambra State.

Super sub, Obinna Ozue came off the bench to seal the win for the Student’s branch in the 76th minute of the pulsating encounter.

The win ended an 18-year period of not winning the trophy for the Student’s Union branch after they last won it in 2006. Earlier on, Ota branch won 5-4 on penalties to leapfrog Nkpor branch for the third position in the third/fourth placed playoffs after the game ended one apiece at the end of regulation time.

The sponsor, Prof. Poly Emenike congratulated the winners for emerging tops at the end of the competition, he also commended the organizing committee for planning and ensuring a hitch free competition.

* Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka LGA has celebrated her 67th Igu-Aro festival, which also marked the 14th Igu-Aro of the Traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Sir Ralph Ekpeh, the Okpalanakana-ukabia Nri.

In his address after performing the kolanut rituals, Igwe Ekpeh, prayed for continued peace and development in the community and warned against youth involvement in cultism and land racketeering, which he recalled led to the death of some youths, and nearly plunged two brother communities into war.

Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji, who identified with the community on the event, said Enugwu-Ukwu has been consistent in promoting Igbo culture, thereby bringing their people together to the admiration of other communities.

Speaking after he was appointed the “Information Minister, Enugwu-Ukwu Traditional Authority” and “Chairman of Umunri Colloquium Commission”, the former Managing Director of ABS, Chief Uche Nworah, said as “a community man”, he will use his new position to further push positive narratives the community is known for.

* Renowned businessman and philanthropist, Chief Arthur Eze, has thrown his weight behind Chief Fyneface Amaechi’s candidacy for the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Presidency.

Describing Amaechi as “short but mighty,” Chief Eze urged Ndigbo worldwide to support Amaechi’s presidency, citing his exceptional leadership qualities and ability to unite the Igbo people.

The Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Presidency election is scheduled to take place soon, and Amaechi’s supporters are optimistic about his chances of winning. With Chief Arthur Eze’s endorsement, Amaechi’s campaign has received a significant boost, and his message of unity and prosperity is expected to resonate with even more Igbo people.
