# Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has expressed deep joy and satisfaction over the increasing number of Anambra youths who have joined the Nigeria Police Force through the cadet scheme.

Soludo made this known on Thursday during a ceremony at which the state government handed over 30 operational vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force.

Addressing the cadet officers, Soludo described their decision to join the police as courageous and commendable, noting that such a career choice was once discouraged among youths in the state.

The Governor stated that the police institution belongs to them and encouraged the cadets to see themselves as future leaders within the force.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, described the development as a great honour to the state.

Orutugu noted that the number of Anambra indigenes commissioned as cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police was unprecedented.

# The Mayor of Idemili South LGA, Hon. Amaka Obi has sent a warm message of congratulations to Engr. Anthony Uzo Ejiofor, President‑General of the Oba Patriotic Union, following his installation as Ichie Idejimba of Oba by His Royal Majesty Igwe Engr. Chinedu Emelobe (Ezeokpoko II of Oba).

The local government boss praised Ejiofor’s strong character, selfless service, professional excellence, and dedication to the progress and unity of Oba.

Obi expressed confidence that the new title will bring him greater fulfillment, good health, and the strength to lead with humility.

# The New Face of Amanuke, a progressive pressure group committed to the growth and development of Amanuke Kingdom in Awka North LGA of Anambra State, in a show of solidarity and compassion, paid a condolence visit to the lawmaker representing Awka North Constituency, Hon. Johnmark
Chimezie Ikwunne, following the passing of his beloved mother.

The delegation includes Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, a candidate for the position of President General of Amanuke Kingdom, Chief Michael Chukwuemeka Mmekwe, who also serves as Co-Convener of the group, amongst others.

During the visit, the group presented Hon. Ikwunne with symbolic condolence items as a gesture of empathy and support during his time of mourning

In his response, the lawmaker expressed deep appreciation for the visit, thanking the group for standing with him and his family in their moment of grief.

# The Anambra Police Command, on Thursday, 8th January 2025, received 30 (Thirty) Toyota Hilux patrol vehicles from the State Government, as part of sustained efforts to strengthen security operations and enhance public safety across the State.

The presentation was made by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, at the Old Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

During the event, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, formally presented to the Governor 28 Anambra indigenes newly passed-out Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs).

CP. Orutugu noted that the addition of the patrol vehicles, coupled with the deployment of the newly commissioned officers, will significantly enhance Police visibility, response time, and overall operational efficiency across the State.

While receiving the officers, Governor Soludo urged them to uphold the ideals and values of Anambra State, charging them to truly embody the State’s slogan by being “a Light to the Nation” through exemplary service, discipline, and professionalism.

The Governor further emphasized the importance of dedication, integrity, and commitment to duty in sustaining peace and security.

# Pursuant to community-driven development, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has commissioned a newly constructed 5-kilometer road built by Chief Anthony Obele, a private individual and proud son of Ezinifite in Aguata local government area.

The project, executed through a pioneering public-private-community partnership (PPCP), championed by Governor Soludo, represents a milestone in the state’s infrastructure advancement and a powerful example of collaborative progress.

At the commissioning event, Governor Soludo hailed Chief Obele’s commitment as exemplary. He described the project as a model for sustainable community development that transcends government capacity alone. The Governor emphasized that partnerships like what happened here—blending private initiative, public support, and community participation—are essential to fast-tracking infrastructural growth across Anambra.

Chief Anthony Obele, the visionary behind the road, praised the leadership and vision demonstrated for the state, describing it as commendable. He said the current direction offers a positive outlook for the sons and daughters of Anambra.

# Forty-three students have been presented with scholarship awards worth of N100,000 by Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alumni Association (NAUAA).

The awards, covering tuition fee are renewable as long as the recipients meet the criteria each session till graduation.

The event held at the Chisco Institute was the NAUAA maiden scholarship award ceremony in fulfilment of the vision collectively unveiled by the association on June 13, 2025.

Speaking at the scholarship award ceremony, Anambra Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh said the scholarship award to deserving students was an opportunity to impact on the revolution of the society.

Chuma-Udeh charged the recipients to be useful to the society and regard themselves as debtors, who must someday, replicate the event.

Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Bond Anyaehie commended the alumini for the program, charging others not to wait for opportunities like this to assist the indigent.

# Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra has recorded increase in arrests and Conviction System bookings in the state.

Sector Commander CC Bridget Asekhauno disclosed this while hosting Assistant Corps Marshal (Operations) Hyginus Omeje who was in her office on a courtesy visit.

Asekhauno highlighted other achievements of the Command to include installation of 21 solar-powered street lights and repair of operational vehicles.

The FRSC boss however requested support for personnel transfer and posting, as well as the provision of an official operational vehicle.

Responding, ACM Omeje said the essence of the visit was to build officer capacity, reinforce FRSC’s humanitarian duties, and align with the 2026 strategic goals.

Omeje emphasized that all FRSC personnel are operational staff and should be effectively utilized. He stressed the importance of rescue operations and compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.

# Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have dismantled a suspected child trafficking syndicate operating in Aguleri, Anambra State, rescuing 33 underage girls and arresting one female suspect in a major security breakthrough.

The operation, carried out by officers attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, followed a distress alert received through the Command Control Room from relatives of three missing girls abducted in Ebonyi State.

According to police sources, the abducted girls, Divine Mbam (14), Nwagu Favour (15), and Oke Blessing (18) had been missing since September 26, 2025, before credible intelligence revealed their presence at a house located on Emma Pigin Road, Aguleri.

Acting swiftly on the information, police operatives stormed the location and arrested a 37-year-old woman identified as Ifeoma Success Anthony. A total of 33 underage girls were rescued from the premises.
