* Following the planned demolition of 13 Filling Stations at Ekwuluobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to compensate adequately, the owners of the 13 functional filling stations in the area. The proposed demolition of 13 functional filling stations, according to the Anambra State Government, was to make way for the construction of a flyover in the Ekwulobia area of Anambra State.

* The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has pledged its desire to collaborate more with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in stemming the tide of road traffic crashes across the state.
Mr. Osuala Edwin, the NSCDC Anambra State Commandant stated this at the FRSC command Headquarters in Awka. Mr. Osuala who described NSCDC and FRSC as partners in the business of saving lives and property, said aside familiarizing with the Sector Commander, the need for stakeholders to collaborate and support FRSC in its bid to curb road crashes can not be overemphasized.

* A middle-aged man has been blinded by a deity, popularly known as Ita for allegedly fingering and defiling his neighbor’s one-year-old daughter in Onitsha, Anambra State. The suspect, identified as Friday Ameh was said to have been dragged to the deity in Ikem village in Nando, Anambra East Local Government Area of the state after denying committing the crime. The suspect, in a viral video was seen being interrogated by the Chief Priest of the deity before the villagers who gathered at the shrine to watch the drama.

* A teenage girl in Anambra has abandoned her newborn baby in a hospital and fled, immediately after delivery. The girl was alleged to have left the baby in the hospital, prompting the owner of the hospital to take the baby to the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo. Obinabo has become popular for her role in ensuring the welfare of women and children, including protecting the rights of vulnerable people.

* The students of Mater Amabilis Secondary School, Umuoji, Anambra State, after fierce competition from 20 top schools across the country, came first position at the 2023 National Entrepreneurship Exhibition and Awards organized by the Nigerian segment of the Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE). The event, held from 25th to 28th June, 2023, at the Area Council Service Commission House in Garki, Abuja, showcased the innovative ideas and entrepreneurial skills of the participating teams.
ANN gathered that the remarkable achievement of Mater Amabilis Secondary School has earned them the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the upcoming SAGE World Cup in Italy later this year.

* Leadership Summit has been held for delegates of Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria, CYON, across Awka Diocesan Parishes at Archbishop A.K. Obiefuna Retreat Pastoral and Conference Centre, Awka. The theme of the Leadership summit was ”Youth Apostolate; Placing the Common Good above Personal Interest”. The Diocesan Youth Chaplain, Rev Fr. Paschal Udo, in his remarks, acknowledged that being a youth was not easy.

* The newly elected Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Orumba North Local Government chapter, Chief Cyril McCarthy Nwobu has held a meeting with the members of the local government executive and the Ward Chairmen with a call on them to adopt a new approach towards rebuilding and repositioning the party in the 19 political wards and the local government. Nwobu who started the meeting with the accreditation of members, informed that the essence of the meeting was to familiarize himself with the local government executive and the Ward Chairmen in readiness for the upcoming inauguration of the local government executive and Ward Chairmen which he said would come up on a date to be announced later pending the inauguration of the Local Government Chairmen by the State Executive of the Party.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Hon. ChuksBrown Igboañua has congratulated the management, staff and students of Mater Amabilis Secondary School, Umuoji, for coming tops at the just concluded 2023 National Entrepreneurship Exhibition and Awards, organized by the Nigerian segment of the Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE), held in Abuja.
Students of Mater Amabilis beat their contemporaries from about twenty top secondary schools in Nigeria to win gold, where they displayed their innovative ingenuity and entrepreneural prowess. Speaking on the outstanding performance of the school, Hon. Igboañua said the student has once again proved Anambra state remains the light of the nation.
