* The Managing Director of Anambra ICT Agency, Mr Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, has said that Africa is quite endangered in the area of artificial intelligence as developed countries are building multi-billion dollar industries and positioning for such investments. Agbata stated this when Anambra ICT Agency played host to relevant stakeholders and Tech experts in and across the state in a hybrid workshop at the Agency’s conference hall in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
* The Jordan Nwora Foundation has presented a customized Basketball Jersey to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in appreciation for his support to sports development in the state. The colourful occasion was held at Onitsha Shopping Mall Arena, during the grand finale of the one-week annual elite basketball camp for basketball players between the ages of fourteen and eighteen, drawn from the five south east states and the south-south.
* The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State ICT Agency, (ANSICTA), Mr Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, has called on other States governors in Nigeria to emulates their counterpart, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on his administrative agenda of making Anambra a digitalized state in the country. He noted that if the policy is been copy and fully implement across 36 states of Nigeria, the issues of security challenges confronting the country will be curbed.
* The Chairman, Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka, has called for the prudent management of local government accounts with a view to promoting accountability in the Councils finances. As custodians of the assets of local government councils, the Chairman urged them to end all manner of civil/executive financial recklessness and charged them to synchronize their operations with those of the auditors to nip in the bud all financial misappropriation endemic in the System.
* Anambra State Police Command has reacted to the trending report of the arrest of some suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its security arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The media space was flooded with publications alleging that three IPOB/ESN members were arrested at Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State. The publications were coming at the week when a self-acclaimed Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa was said to have declared a 7-day sit-at-home in all the five states of the South-eastern Nigeria.
* A Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court, sitting in Anambra State, has ordered the remanding of one Mrs Ekpereamaka Okonkwo, 39 years and her husband, Mr Okechukwu Okonkwo, 36 years, in prison. The woman was last week arrested, after her brothel was bursted by youth of Oba community in Idemili North Local Government Area, for using underage girls for prostitution.
* Residents of of Awka the capital city of Anambra State have commended the state government for the improved electricity supply recorded in the State over the last few months.
The residents, who attested that they now enjoy about 22-hour power supply on the average on daily basis, said they never believed that such constant power supply could be possible in Nigeria, as such was only associated with developed countries of the world.
* In keeping with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to make Anambra a technologically-vibrant state, the ICT Agency being the Agency mandated to drive this vision, recently collaborated with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) to integrate technology in Project Management. Prior to this collaboration, the Department of Strategy Execution and Evaluation (SEE) charged with the responsibility to monitor ongoing state projects and evaluate finished ones in the State, had paid a courtesy visit to the State ICT Agency to make known their duties.
* In line with Governor Soludo’s Green and Clean Initiative, Orumba South Council Chairman, Prince S.N. Uchendu has enjoined communities to desilt drainage channels along their road corridor. The Councilor Representing Umunze Ward 1 took the lead by galvanizing his Community members through the support of the Council Chairman by clearing, carting away debris, and cutting of over grown grass along the LGA headquarters down to Nkwo Market, Umunze.
* Anambra Police Command has warned against false insecurity alarm adding that the Command shall invoke cyber laws on culprits.
The Police Command was reacting to a recent false security alerts/messages and doctored old videos of security incidents which it described as targeted at causing tension in the State.
Consequently, the Command spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement said police shall invoke relevant cyber laws on persons found wanting in this regard and warned perpetrators to desist from the acts forthwith.
