* The Government of Anambra State has denied allegations of activities of its revenue agents being responsible for the recent tragic road accident involving a trailer and other vehicles that sadly caused loss of lives at the Eke Awgbu area of the state. While also expressing its sympathy and condolences to the victims and families affected by the unfortunate incident, the government categorically debunks the baseless and malicious claims being circulated by certain opposition elements suggesting that the accident was caused by revenue agents of the state, derogatorily referred to as “Soludo Boys.”.
* The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, led a delegation of top management officials on a condolence visit to the family of the late DSC Stanley Anikpe. The visit was in response to the tragic demise of DSC Anikpe, who lost his life in the collapse of a two-storey building under construction at Ekeoyibo market, Amawbia, in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday, 4th July 2024. Comdt. Maku conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, describing the death as a shocking loss not only to the family but also to the NSCDC.
* The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has removed the Name of Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa as the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) citing Court Order as the reason on their web portal. This came after a long legal tussle that went up to the Supreme Court and back to High Court, then to the Court of Appeal. INEC also updated the Name of Chief Edozie Njoku as the Authentic National Chairman of APGA.
* The Traditional Ruler of Ebenebe, Igwe Chris Nnaegbuna, has commended Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for completing the Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Ugbene-Awba-Ofemili road project, which had suffered long abandonment since its commencement. The monarch, who spoke to newsmen in his palace in Ebenebe, explained that completing the project, which was started by a former Governor, Peter Obi in May 2007 and suffered long abandonment, is a sign of Prof Soludo’s love for the people of the agrarian communities. The royal father, speaking through the Palace Public Relations Officer, Chief Ezekiel Okafor, noted, “Prior to the completion of this road, this part of the state had suffered untold hardship.
* Onitsha Country Club, Fegge, a new indoor sports hall building furnished with state-of-the-art sporting facilities has been commissioned by the Senator Representing Anambra South Senatorial zone at the National Assembly, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah. Performing the ceremony, Sen. Ubah, commended the members and executive of the club for their efforts towards reviving sports in the state, pledging to support the club towards restoring the glory of sports in Anambra State.
* Anambra State Government has advise property owners along Amawbia-Agulu-Nanka-Ekwulobia-Uga Road to start relocating somewhere else to avoid being adversely affected by the road dualization project. in an announcement signed by Anambra
Commissioner for Information Hon. Paul Nwosu stated that the law demands that property along federal highway must be set back by 47.5 meters from center of the road. Anything short of that is a violation of the law and such a property will be regarded and treated as an illegal structure. By this notice, Government wishes to minimize avoidable losses on the part of those that could be affected.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Ihiala LGA, Hon. Anayo Orjiakor has charged the 25 newly sworn-in councilors of the local council to be ambassadors of Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration at the grassroots level. Hon. Orjiakor gave the charge while inaugurating the councilors representing various wards in the local government as a way to drive the Solution campaign to all the nooks and crannies of the communities in the local government area.
Performing the Inauguration at the Council headquarters at Ihiala, Engineer Orjiakor tasked the newly inaugurated Ward Councilors to take the message of disruptive change to the grassroots in order to improve the living conditions of the rural populace and align with the Governors broad development agenda.
* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has received the royal blessings of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Romanus Iloh, (Ise Nise), the traditional ruler of Nise town, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State. Igwe Romanus Iloh, bestowed his blessings on the Corps during a condolence visit by the State Commandant, Comdt. Maku, to the palace in Nise on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
The visit was to commiserate with the royal family over the demise of Prince Azubuike Iloh, the crown prince of Nise.
The traditional ruler praised the Corps’ efforts in maintaining law and order, protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, and urged them to continue their good work.
* The attention of Anambra State Government has been drawn to the recent correspondence by ‘Meat Nigeria’ to members of the public, inviting them to a purported 3-day International Exhibition scheduled to hold on 14th -16th November, 2024 at Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka, using a forged letter headed paper of the Anambra State Ministry of Agriculture without their consent. According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Forster Ihejiofor, titled, ‘PUBLIC DISCLAIMER ON USAGE OF FORGED MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE HEADED PAPER BY MEAT NIGERIA 2024’, the blatant forgery of the Ministry of Agriculture headed paper by MEAT NIGERIA is illegal and designed to deceive gullible Nigerians, is totally condemned by the Ministry of Agriculture.
* In order to keep abreast of dos and don’ts, the Onitsha Unit Coordinator of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (Ocha Brigade), Mr. Ejike Odife has underscored the importance of regular parade and lecturing men of Ocha Brigade. Mr. Odife who is in charge of Borromeo Round About, Upper Iweka to Niger Bridge, Ogbaru local government area and Owerri Onitsha Road made the disclosure shortly after weekly parade and lectures conducted by his unit. He, therefore, noted that as agency responsible for clamping down the defaulters of various environmental laws, it is imperative that staff of Ocha Brigade mostly field workers should be updated on the dos and don’ts.
