Awka North TC Chairman Comrade Anago has received the State Woman Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA,  Mrs. Esther Onyekesi at the Local Government Headquarters Achalla during her familiarization tour of all the APGA women leaders of the fourteen  wards in Awka North. Anago described the visit as a welcome development and motivation to their women who are gearing up for the re-election of Governor Soludo for a second term in office. He encouraged APGA women to continue to share and propagate the solution message through the Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo Initiative for a livable and prosperous homeland.

* Anambra Commandant of The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Comdt. Maku Olatunde has pledged to join forces with the Ministry of Youth Development to steer youths away from  social vices. The partnership aims to sensitize youths to shun violence, social vices, and criminal activities that can hinder their potential and harm their communities. Comdt. Maku Olatunde, and the Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Agha Mba both reaffirmed their commitment to the partnership during a meeting at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Awka.

* Nkiru Okoma Foundation has launched its inaugural competition for secondary schools in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, marking a significant milestone in its effort to promote education and skills empowerment. The competition, which was held at Obosi Town Hall, featured spelling bee, quiz, and skills’ hunt for junior and senior secondary schools in the community. 

Addressing the students, the Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi said the competition will encourage the students to learn more; to know that hard work pays and also to foster a spirit of healthy competition in them.

* Anambra State Police Command intercepts the video of a protest against police action and wishes to state that the Police team and the Officer mentioned in the video have been identified. The Police Command also invites the victims to come forward to help facilitate the necessary action involved in the investigation. Reacting to the video, Anambra Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, calls for calm and urges citizens to utilize the channels of the complaint against Police Officers rather than being unruly as seen in the video blocking the express road thereby Infringing on the fundamental rights of others which is the very course citizens want to protect and seek for Police that is civil and professional in discharging their duties. 

* Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) through its Development Control Unit has removed and dismantled illegal structures and shanties at the the Government Residential Area (G.R.A), back of the new Government House and Lodge Awka, Anambra State Capital. The Deputy Commander of the Development Unit, Mr. Nkwachukwu Okonkwo, speaking to newsmen shortly after the exercise said that what they have done is part of the development control mandate of the agency to ensure that buildings and structures are legally constructed and at the right place. Okonkwo explained that the agency has earlier given stop work order to those trying to connervialize the G.R.A but they ignored the order and continued with their work, adding that their officials had been attacked by some people working in one of the buildings they served a stop work order.

* Awka North Councillors have been inaugurated by the Hon.ThankGod Anago the Transition Committee Chairman who tasked them on effective service delivery.

Inaugurating the council members at the local government secretariat Achalla, Comrade Anago charged them to show commitment and give priority to service delivery in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration’s policy of building livable, secure and prosperous homeland.

* The embattled workers alleged to be ghost workers earning salaries without being staff members of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, has called on the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to urgently intervene on the matter to avoid break down of law and order in the state.

The workers made their position known when they stormed the Local Government Service Commission Headquarters in Awka, on Wednesday to protest what they unanimously described as “misinformation”, unpaid salary of three months and other conditions affecting their existence.

* Dubai Hostel Ifite Awka, Awka South Local Government Area has finally collapsed less than 78 hours after Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) evacuated all occupants of the building. Reacting on the development, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ACTDA, Mr. Ossy Onuko appreciated God that no single life was lost in the collapsed building, and commended his team for being responsive in the discharge of their duties. Mr. Onuko wondered the magnitude of fatalities that would had been recorded, had his team did not evacuate occupants of the building and showered encomiums on Governor Chukwuma Soludo for providing them with enough logistics and support for them to execute the job effectively and efficiently.

Union Mr. Uchenna Malobi expressed gratitude to the TC Chairman for choosing Umudioka community as the first to benefit from his groundbreaking projects thereby setting a precedent for success. They also commended the mayor for ordering the immediate commencement of the renovation of Afoigwe primary school major BLock that housed seven classrooms and construction of a perimeter fence at Abo primary school all in Umudioka community. 

* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha and the Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke as an outstanding Prelate whose spiritual standing and drive have greatly aided the growth and development of the Catholic Church. Felicitating Archbishop Okeke on behalf of the State Legislature as he marks his 43rd Priestly Anniversary, Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that the Catholic Prelate has distinguished himself among his contemporaries through promotion of practical evangelism and sound church administration.
