* Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has congratulated the Archbishop of Onitsha Province and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke on the forty-third (43rd) anniversary of his ordination as a Catholic priest. Soludo commended Archbishop Okeke for his dedication and commitment to the progress and development of the state. The Governor also eulogized the Archbishop’s long and distinguished career in the service of God and humanity, praising his selfless dedication to the church
* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has pledged to strengthen its collaboration and synergy with the Anambra State Fire Service to effectively combat fire incidents and ensure the protection of lives and assets belonging to both public and private individuals in the state. The Anambra State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Comdt. Maku Olatunde extended this assurance while receiving the Chief Fire Officer of the Anambra State Fire Service, Engineer Chiketa Chukwudi Emmanuel, on a courtesy visit at the State Command Headquarters in Awka. Comdt. Maku Olatunde stressed the significance of interagency collaboration in enhancing fire safety measures, refining response strategies, and promoting fire safety awareness throughout the state.
* Ndi Okpoke Age Grade, Aguleri were inducted into the prestigious Ndi Ichie Aguleri, Mgbadabuanu Age Grade Oji Ana Uno were inducted into the Ndi Ojiana Aguleri while Ndi Ochunagali Ekwolo were inducted into Ojiana Uno Aguleri. The inductions powered by Aguleri World Forum was graced by the traditional ruler of Enugwu Aguleri, Eze Chukwuemeka Eri, his Mkpunando-Otu Aguleri counterpart, Igwe Johnson Onyeaka-Mbanefo and that of Enugwu-Otu Aguleri, Igwe Emmanuel Ejiofor and other Ndi Aguleri who came to bear witness and felicitate the celebrants.
Ndi Ichie Aguleri is the decision making body in the community who oversee many issues, settles them and champions peace and progress in Aguleri.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, has cautioned against eating breakfast too early in the morning, stating that it can lead to health challenges. Speaking during a health talk at the Awka City Stadium, Dr. Obidike explained that hormones like glucagon and cortisol release stored glucose into the system, providing enough energy to last till mid-day. He said,”Eating breakfast early pumps insulin into the body, shooting up blood sugar levels, and potentially leading to weight gain and health issues.” However, Dr. Obidike exempted individuals on medication, advising them to follow their doctors’ dietary instructions. He also encouraged people to develop personalized eating plans, including intermittent fasting or skipping meals, depending on their individual capacity.
* Anambra State Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam says over two hundred suspects have been arrested in the last sixty days for various crimes. CP Itam while briefing the press at the Commands Headquarters, Amawabia on Friday July 12, warned all those who have been mislaid through thinking that crime is the only option, they should have a rethink and redress their steps.
* The new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Ambassador Greg Mbadiwe has described the University as a wonderful citadel of learning endowed with amazing infrastructures and facilities. Amb. Mbadiwe made the remarks during a brief chat with journalists in the aftermath of the tour of the Awka Campus of the University as part of activities marking the inaugural meeting of the newly constituted Governing Council of the institution. Mbadiwe described UNIZIK as a unique institution named after Dr.
Nnamdi Azikiwe, the great ‘ZIK of Africa’ with the name having a ripple and positive effects in the institution as can be seen with the infrastructures domiciled in the main campus as well as the great job done by the institution’s founding fathers and administrators in dynamics, policy and decision making.
* Anambra born philanthropist, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, has advised politicians, especially those from the South-East geopolitical zone against compounding the travails of the Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. He expressed dismay that some Igbo political elite were going about demanding the release of the embattled IPOB leader the wrong way, stressing that the overzealous politicians are acting out of ignorance and mostly in self aggrandisement. In a statement made available to journalists, Obidigbo, who is the President of Osisioma Foundation, noted that the delicate nature of Kanu’s incarceration requires quiet diplomacy to achieve political solution, without politicising the young man’s release, the way they are going about it.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Hon. Casmir Nwafor has assured the people of the area especially workers of his preparedness to domesticate Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s good governance in Orumba North through effective administration as well as well-being of the people. Speaking at the Orumba North Council Headquarters, Ajalli during a meeting with the management staff, Barrister Nwafor said that he has come to change the face of Orumba North and Ajalli in particular for the better, urging the staff to show more commitment to their duties and shun acts capable of retarding the pace of development in the area. Nwafor who revealed that he will relocate from his home town Oko to live in the council headquarters, Ajalli for work efficiency and for effective supervision, commended Governor Soludo for the numerous developmental projects he has completed in Orumba North in addition to the ongoing ones and called on the people of the area to continue with their support to the Governor.
* A 120 years old centenarian Mazi Onyekwe Akwuba the oldest man in Nteje community, Oyi LGA Anambra State has beg the governor of the state Prof. Charles Soludo CFR to urgently use his good office to intervene in his town kingship succession process which he alleged some powerful people in the town want to torpedo advising him to ensure that the long existing zoning arrangement which will make it possible for only candidates from Ifite Nteje the zoning quarter it is their right to produce the next monarch of the town do so as other two quarters namely Ezi and Ikenga Nteje has produced in the past.
* The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Anambra State has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to save the life of Mrs Nkemakolam Nnamani brutalused by his notorious anti-tout squad. Mrs Nnamani was abused, manhandled and brutalised by the State Anti-Tout Squad for advising them to stop assualting,beating and molesting an aged woman at Upper Iweka area of Onitsha, Anambra State. But CLO in a statement which was made available to the media in Onitsha said the pathetic health condition of the woman is detoriating that if urgent and immediate step is not taken,her leg may be amputated.
