* The first lady of Anambra state Mrs Nonye Soludo has described Miss Kamsiyochukwu Umeh, the Anambra-born top scorer in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, as a perfect picture of Anambra’s revered excellence. Mrs Soludo made this known in a statement released in Awka to celebrate the teenager who hails from Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area.

* Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR has congratulated the Archbishop of Onitsha Diocese and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke, on the occasion of his 42nd Anniversary of his Priestly consecration. Archbishop Valerian Okeke was ordained to the priesthood on July 11, 1981 by Cardinal Francis Arinze who was then the Archbishop of Onitsha.

* The Anambra State Government has held a one day engagement meeting with the Association of Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria, Anambra state chapter with a call for synergistic collaborations to enhance service delivery in the health sector of the state. Addressing the participants, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike represented by the Director of Medical Services in the Ministry, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu said the meeting was to review the state of the health care service delivery including on quality and coverage.

* Following the recent JAMB declaration of Miss Nkechinyere Umeh from Anambra State as the highest scorer with cumulative mark of 360 in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has congratulated the remarkable student on doing the state proud with her exceptional performance. In further celebration of Miss Umeh’s feat, Governor Soludo announced a well-deserved scholarship for her to study any course of her choice at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in Anambra State.

* The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency, ARTMA, Engr Emeka Okonkwo, has advised the motoring public in Anambra State to shun the attitude of giving money to unscrupulous officials of the agency on the road when accused of any traffic offence. The Managing Director who gave the advice in a media programme in Awka, recently, urged the accused motorists to insist on going to the agency’s office, saying that all accusations must be accompanied with a proper and complete video clip that must show where and how the offence was committed.

* Gaius Chibueze, a popular entrepreneur and Bitcoin chief, says he will still sponsor Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma to study overseas despite admitting to a panel of independent investigators set up by the Anambra State Government that she forged her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results. Gaius, who claimed President Bola Tinubu forged his academic certificate, advised Nigerians not to destroy a little girl’s future because of a forged certificate’ .

* School teachers, under the umbrella of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), have appealed to the State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo to lift the ban his government placed on meetings of the State Wing of the Union in the State. The leadership of the Union made the appeal when they visited the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, at her office in Awka, to tender their unreserved apologies for what their members did that resulted to the ban.

* The traditional ruler of Umuoba Anam in Anambra East Local Government Area, Igwe George Ekwealor has appealed to Ndi Anambra to keep supporting the Anambra state government in its efforts to make the State livable, secured and prosperous homeland. Ekwealor who made the appeal while speaking in his palace at Umuoba Anam, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his numerous developmental strides across the state and noted that the Governor needs to be supported to continue his good works in the state.

* Anambra State Head of Service Barrister Theodora Igwegbe says her commitment to repositioning the state public and civil service is not negotiable. Speaking shortly after receiving a Professional Service Award of Excellence from the Rotary club of Awka GRA, as part of activities marking the investiture of Rotarian Benitez Ibeanu as the Twenty-second President of the Club, Barrister Igwegbe said that already, her office has commenced series of trainings for both public and civil servants across the state for optimal performance.

* The new Anambra State Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Olufemi Adeoye has commended Anambra state Football Association Chairman, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi for giving the state a huge facelift via football. He disclosed this when Iloenyosi paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Amawbia. He expressed his satisfaction and confidence in the way Iloenyosi has gone about his duties and promoting football at the grassroot.
